Chapter 367: Something Fishy's Afoot (1)

A trace of impatience flashed pa.s.sed the eyes of the tall, slender man wearing a mask as he hurriedly walked towards the group.

"Did you just arrive? Have you eaten yet?" Vv gave Ches.h.i.+re Cat, who was also known as Wei Wei, a once over. When Vv saw the snack in Ches.h.i.+re Cat's hand, his brows knitted together slightly.

Wei Wei looked a little embarra.s.sed by Vv's eagerness and concern. He managed to put on a somewhat forced smile and said, "Brother, why are you here?"

Ches.h.i.+re Cat was actually Vv, the renowned cosplayer's, little brother?

Shen Jingbin alternated her attention between the two siblings as she eyed them with interest.

"Vv, I'll lead the rest of them off if you have something to take care of here. Remember to give me a call if anything crops up, or if you plan to leave." Xiangpeng felt a tug of pain when saw Vv run off without a word. He hurriedly rushed up to convey his parting words before leading the rest of his VIPs towards the autograph area.

Luo Feng, who'd tried to make a move on Shen Jingbin previously, tilted his head and gave a snort as he walked by the couple. It was almost as if he was acting like it was Shen Jingbin's loss.

"Eh, was that Luo Feng? Do the two of you know him? And that other person was… Vv? Could it really be Vv?" Black Kite belatedly asked as she stared in the direction that Luo Feng had walked off in. She then looked back at Vv who was still standing off to the side, and she nearly went bug-eyed.

Wei Wei was just about to explain things, but Vv, who was looking a little impatient, pulled off his mask and said, "You're not going back today, right? Have you booked your hotel? You can stay at my place if you haven't booked a room."

"I've already booked a room, so I won't need to trouble you."

"Which hotel are you staying at? Let me have a look to see if it's up to snuff. If it's not, we can get it changed; the earlier, the better."

"Can you stop trying to meddle in my affairs? I can sort things out on my own!" Wei Wei suddenly shouted, his voice laced with dissatisfaction.

"Wei Wei!" Vv's expression didn't look any better now either.

Wei Wei looked away from Vv and refused to say another word.

Unable to understand why the two siblings had begun quarreling all of a sudden, Black Kite foolishly a.s.sumed that it was because she'd asked an inappropriate question. Her voice with tinged with fear as she said, "I'm sorry, Mr Vv. Did I ask something I wasn't supposed to? I may blurt out inappropriate things at times. I hope you'll forgive me if I've offended you in any way."

Fans would always subconsciously walk on eggsh.e.l.ls when speaking with their idols for fear of accidentally incurring their displeasure. At the moment, Black Kite was more or less of the same mind. Although she didn't exactly know what she'd done wrong, apologising to her idol was definitely the right move!

Wei Wei chose this time to speak up. "You don't need to apologise to him, Black Kite. You've done nothing wrong." His voice sounded a little calmer now, but he still bore a look of hostility when he faced Vv. "There's no need for you to feel so anxious. I came to B City to meet my friends. You've got your own things to take care of, right? You don't need to worry about me."

Vv said nothing and just stared fixedly at Wei Wei for several seconds before giving a sigh as if he'd decided to compromise. "Fine, I'll take care of my own matters then. Let me know when you decide to leave. Also, be sure to inform me of where you're staying and where you're going if you go out to have fun at night. Auntie went out of her way to call me and tell me to look after you since you were coming to B City. I can't very well disregard what she says."

"Alright then, you guys go have your fun. I'll be on my way." Vv donned his mask once again and made to leave. As he did so, he noticed Shen Jingbin and Zhao Chengning who were off to the side and looking as if they were enjoying the show. His brows furrowed and he thought for a bit before giving Shen Jingbin a pat on the shoulder.

"Miss Shen? Could I trouble you to follow me for a bit? There's something I wish to discuss with you." After he spoke, he noticed a flash of displeasure on Zhao Chengning's face. "Mr Zhao, would it be alright if I had a word with your girlfriend?"

Zhao Chengning had no intention of allowing it, but he gritted his teeth and nodded when he saw his girlfriend winking at him.

And so, under the watchful gazes of everyone present, Vv pulled Shen Jingbin off to the side and said, "Miss Shen, are you amongst the friends Wei Wei's planning to meet today? If so, I hope you can help me look out for him."

Shen Jingbin raised a brow. "You want me to monitor him?"

"Nothing like that. He's a little meek, so I'm worried that something untoward might happen to him when he isn't paying attention in B City."

"Why ask me?"

"You're the only one I know out of everyone present," Vv helplessly said.

A thought occurred to Shen Jingbin when she thought back to how Huajuan was head over heels for this person. "How do you plan to thank me for helping you?"

Vv froze for a moment before his expression turned serious. "What do you want as thanks?"

"Do a recording for me later on. I'll decide its contents… Relax, I'm a good person, and I won't make you spout nonsense. You should know that one of my friends is a fan of yours; the recording is for her."

Vv mulled over it for several seconds before reluctantly agreeing. He handed her a name card. "Alright. My number's on this; please give me a call if anything happens. As for the recording we talked about, send me a private message via Wechat after you've decided on the script and I'll record it for you."

Shen Jingbin took the name card from him and flashed him a brilliant smile that dazzled Vv for a brief moment.

"It's a deal."

The two of them then proceeded to shake hands to symbolise their agreement.

Everyone else who was standing beside the stage could only see the legendary Vv and Shen Jingbin standing very close together as they talked about something. Following that, Shen Jingbin took something from Vv, and they shook hands, looking as if they'd come to some sort of agreement. After which, Vv turned back to glance at them before he took his leave.

"Hey Nutty, what did you and my brother talk about?" Wei Wei asked a little anxiously when Shen Jingbin returned.

Shen Jingbin brought up the name card in her hand and gave an even smile. "One of my friends is a fan of your brother. Before this, I asked your brother if he could give me his number, which he refused. But, he decided to give it to me now on account of you. You brothers are quite close; it looks like he considers anyone who's a friend of yours as his friend as well."

Wei Wei face turned an unnatural shade of red.

Zhao Chengning: Is it really a good idea for you to be asking for another man's number in front of me?!

Shen Jingbin gave Zhao Chengning a placating tug of his hand and whispered into his ear, "There's something fishy going on between these two brothers! Let me sate my curiosity! Muack muack!"

Zhao Chengning helplessly put a hand on his forehead. He looked into Shen Jingbin's eyes and saw that there was an inscrutable glint to it. Suddenly, he felt like he'd been made privy to yet another hidden aspect of her personality.
