Chapter 1147: Heavy Bin Boxes

Translator: Halcyon Translations Editor: Halcyon Translations

“I’ll show you how to open these Heavy Bin Boxes,” Lu Li offered.

“That’s not the difficult part. Should we really open them? The grand master will definitely find out, and if she refuses to take them, our efforts would be wasted.”

Water Fairy had already calmed down; she didn’t feel like this was a good idea.

These Bin Boxes were the result of using Theft. The lower quality ones were called “Broken Bin Boxes”, which were followed by the “Old Bin Boxes”, “Sealed Bin Boxes”, “Heavy Bin Boxes”, “Big Bin Boxes”…

Perhaps there would be better bin boxes in the future, but Lu Li didn’t know about them yet.

These boxes had lockpicking level requirement, and most dropped the same few items, including silver coins, gems, potions, and spell books. There was even the potential for some very precious equipment, for example, Shadow Dagger, Teebu’s Blazing Longsword and Alcor’s Sunrazor…

“If you immediately give it to her after you open it, of course she would find out, but once you leave it out long enough, she won’t realize it. Of course, you can’t touch the things in the boxes.”

Clearly, Lu Li wasn’t fooled by the beauty of the NPC.

In fact, he had chosen this mission for another reason.

Lu Li understood how to make sure that there were no valuable things in the bin boxes that were handed in. Many people didn’t want to complete the quests because of the cost and the possibility that they would be missing out on what was inside the Heavy Bin Boxes.

This was how people were, even though Lu Li himself knew that the chances were slim.

However, no matter how small the chances were, people couldn’t help but think about it and weigh out whether the quest was really worth it.

It wasn’t until one day when someone discovered a little secret.

Someone had accidentally opened a Heavy Bin Box that he had just stolen. It only contained a Healing Potion and some fabric, but because his bag was full, he didn’t take the items within. The Heavy Bin Box remained with the other unopened boxes.

What was even more unfortunate was that he didn’t get to hand in the quest in time because he had other things to complete first.

He handed in the quest two hours later, so the reputation reward for him was insignificant. However, this was besides the point – Fahrad still took the bin box that he had opened.

Because this was a one-hour quest, most players would have tried to hand the items in as early as possible. Who would wait for two hours to hand in the quest?

After Water Fairy heard about Lu Li’s theory, she thought this was too wild, but she also knew that he wasn’t one to speak carelessly. Regardless if the information was true or not, it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try.

They could just open the box without touching its contents.

The Heavy Bin Box in Lu Li’s hand showed a level 50 bronze equipment with horrible Attributes. It was hard to understand why these game designers had even bothered spending time to design this rubbish. He carefully closed the boxes and left the box in his bag.

Later, when he handed in the quest, he could just pa.s.s these items up in a certain order.

Water Fairy’s boxes also contained nothing of value. These bin boxes were different to treasure chests. The treasure chests in Dawn rarely gave rubbish, but this was the complete opposite with the bin boxes.

Since they had to wait for two hours, both of them continued to steal away.

What was more troublesome was that their bag s.p.a.ces were limited. Sometimes they would steal so much junk that they had no s.p.a.ces left to store their bin boxes. At the same time, bin boxes that had been opened could not be stacked, which worsened the situation.

Lu Li had about a hundred s.p.a.ces in his bag. He had specifically cleaned out his bag before he came, but it wasn’t long before it was filled with junk again.

As the number of boxes in their bag continued to grow, so did the variety of items within.

Besides those precious items that only existed in the legends, a Ruby would be the most valuable item. Every time they saw a Ruby in a box, Lu Li would remove it and the box would disappear.

Rubies were medium-tier materials that were quite valuable and useful for many different trading skills. These types of boxes were too valuable to be handed in for quest purposes.

Water Fairy had opened a “Thief’s Diary”, which was a light book that recorded a nameless Thief’s knowledge of the cla.s.s. It was a single use item and disappeared after it was read. The item increased the profession level of a Thief skill, so it was a rather decent item.

The most common way for players to level up their skills these days was to use skill points.

Another way was to use the skill repeatedly. At this point, it seemed unrealistic to attempt to level up a skill by practice, unless it was one that was commonly used at all times. Lu Li’s Shadow Strike was a good example of this.

The last tactic was through reading these items left behind from others.

Lu Li and Water Fairy had spent their time listening to Fahrad’s nonsense. It was pointless at first, but they soon realized that her words contained knowledge of the Thief cla.s.s. If you paid attention and listened, your skill profession level would also increase.

Lu Li had read the “Thief’s Diary” in his previous life like a novel.

There was only one book, so Lu Li wouldn’t ask to have it for himself. It wasn’t a boring book either, and if they opened enough boxes, there was bound to be another one lying around.

They often found books during their theft. Most were worthless, but Lu Li didn’t dislike these things. He planned to collect all of them and read them at a later point in his spare time. As a poor kid who liked books, it was an enjoyable for him to read and gain knowledge about the game at the same time.

Amongst all the collectable readings that could be obtained from the Theft skills, the most famous piece in Dawn would probably be “A Hot Romance”. It told of the love story between General Marcus Jonathan and the female Mage Narnie, about how they hunted Murlocs together and eventually fell in love.

It was a well-written piece of work and drew people towards it, but unfortunately, it was split into many parts.

Some Thieves only read the first part and totally fell in love with the series. They stole like crazy, determined to try and steal the remaining stories.

Unfortunately, even until the time when Lu Li reincarnated, the story was still incomplete. No one had collected all of the pieces.

After two hours, there were more than a hundred boxes in Lu Li’s bag. Water Fairy had slightly more that Lu Li. Her bag s.p.a.ce was about the same as his, but she had a bracelet that gave her extra bag s.p.a.ce. Female players had some advantage in these aspects.
