Upon realizing this point, Erin decisively took advantage of the hostility between them, led those creatures into the deep maze, and sneaked into the lowest floor in the maze, leaving them to fight against one another. Then, she defeated the great lich that guarded the crystal and was transported here after picking up the crystal.

Seems like the whole situation really has something to do with the crystal.
