Chapter 245: The Shadow Calamity XXII

This was an enclosed room sealed with high magic.

Six Level 1 Demon-hunting Sorcerers gathered around a huge round table.

The Demon-hunting Sorcerers were carefully studying a string of complex mission distribution from a Level-3 sorcerer’s crystal ball at the center of the round table.

The Level-3 sorcerer didn’t seem to have any lower body, as if they were in another dimension. His upper body was floating a few centimeters above the table. There was a black circle at his base, giving off a faint gray aura. There was a cobra on his shoulder, hissing with its tongue out.

“This exploration spell is too complicated for the likes of you, so I had to cut it up into six portions. Each one of you will be responsible for a node. After you have gathered the data back to Battle Command, I will personally cast a spell to retrace the coordinates of the Infinite Crimson Sun Seal.”

Moments later, the Level 3 Demon-hunting Sorcerer said calmly,” You should practice here first. After a few days, I will issue you a new order based on the Battle Command’s intelligence reports.”

After the high-ranking sorcerer had left, the six sorcerers couldn’t help but start to size each other up.

Dressed in a loose black sorcerer’s robe, with blonde hair fluttering underneath his cape; there was a pale-grey spiral pattern on the Mask of Truth on his face while a bright red and green feathered plump Myna was perched on top of Grimm’s shoulder. He quietly looked at the other five people.

On his left was a brunette Bright Sorceress about one and a half meters in height. She wore a pointy tall hat. Her watery eyes were gazing upon the Myna on his shoulder curiously.

Both the sorceress’s and the myna’s eyes met momentarily.

There was a Dark Sorcerer to Grimm’s right. There were six Jack-o’-Lanterns...o...b..ting the Dark Sorcerer. Each of the pumpkins carried a sinister smile and were laughing in a deep tone. He wore a loose dark robe like Grimm’s. There was an orangey presence to him. His face was covered.

The Demon-hunting Sorcerer opposite Grimm had a long, white beard. There was an elk standing behind him. The antlers of the elk were faintly and constantly vibrating. It appeared to have some talented skills in the spatial field.

The remaining two Bright Sorcerers looked very old with wrinkled skin. They wore flawless white robes and a pointy tall hat. As they clutched onto their magic staves, their frames were slightly hunched. They looked very calm and wise.

There were both Bright and Dark Sorcerers in the room. The atmosphere was a little dull.

Moo…

The elk mooed in a low voice as it opened its mouth to speak in the sorcerer tongue. “Since we’ve been a.s.signed to this mission together, let us first confirm the coordinates of the hexagram based on the Sacred Lava Mountain’s surroundings, lest we get confused and break apart later on.”

After the elk had finished talking, the white-bearded sorcerer waved his hand. A crystal ball projected an image of the sacred lava mountain that was located within the peris.h.i.+ng volcanoes.

“Caw! Caw! My master chooses this place.”

The Myna went ahead and pointed at the crystal ball’s map before the rest of the sorcerers could speak.

The place where the Myna had chosen was the entrance that opened up during the battle between the Lava Giant King and the three Stigmata Sorcerers last month. There wasn’t anything special about that place relative to the other five locations.

The rest of the sorcerers took a glance at the Myna but said nothing. They proceeded to point at their chosen locations.

Later, when the six Demon-hunting Sorcerers had selected their own positions, they started to mark down their starting coordinates and used them to simulate their missions.

As Grimm started to simulate the mission using Myna’s chosen starting coordinates, he furrowed his brows and whispered at Myna,” What’s the matter? Why did you choose this location?”

“Caw! Caw! When the battle at the Sacred Lava Mountain started, wasn’t this the place that they detected the invasion of the Amonros? If things go south, we would have an escape route set whether if we were to abandon or continue with the mission.” The Myna’s eyes widened up; they were filled with pride.

Grimm pursed his lips. So that’s why.

There was no day and night cycle within the enclosed room. A magical chandelier provided the lighting for the room.

Grimm did some mental calculations. After about seventy-nine and a half hourgla.s.ses had pa.s.sed, the enclosure surrounding the room suddenly flickered before shutting down. An image of the sorcerer who was in charge of the mission began to appear on the wall. He said in a frantic manner, “The time is now, go!”

The six Demon-hunting Sorcerers who were adept in the spatial field cast their spatial magic almost in unison. In a burst of time-s.p.a.ce ripples, they vanished from the enclosed room.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom…

Other than the surrounding areas of the void fortress, the whole peris.h.i.+ng volcanoes were bursting with violent energy ripples as if the world was about to end. Chaos was everywhere.

As if by intention, the void fortress that hovered right on top of the sacred lava mountain blocked off the sun, casting a huge shadow that covered the sacred mountain.

After leaving the void fortress, Grimm looked around. Groups of Amonros were locked in fierce battles with the Lava Giants and Demon Hunters.

These little creatures that were brutal and vicious in the shadows appeared fatigued in the peris.h.i.+ng volcanoes. Their battles were based on their strength in numbers.

In contrast, the Lava Giants were drawing up the world’s fire energy to slay their enemies in thunderous screams of bloodl.u.s.t.

“Hmm? Vaiduryarion Amonros and the Neon Green Amonros!”

These Amonros were products of years of evolution meant to deal with the Lava Giants here. They were quite effective as the Lava Giants had a hard time fighting them off.

Within the chaotic fiery world, Grimm was merely an inconspicuous member who flew past the supporting Demon-hunting Sorcerers and the Lava Giants that were slaying the Amonros. He did not cast any powerful spells to keep his mana in check.

Slowly, after almost one whole hourgla.s.s had pa.s.sed, Grimm purposefully and carefully reached a lava lake at the foot of the sacred lava mountain.

Compared to the rest of the place within the sacred fiery mountains, there were far fewer Amonros at where he’s standing.

He raised his head and saw the opening which was left by the battle between the three Stigmata sorcerers and the King of Lava Giants.

“Caw! Caw! Look, Master! I told you this place was the best!” After the Myna spoke smugly, it used one of its claws to take out a heart of the lava, given by Nairo from the dimensional gap. It put its eyes nearer for a view. A golden hue filled its eyes; saliva was dripping down from its beak.

Grimm did not say a word. He stood on top of a protruding rock on the lake. The rising heatwave brushed against Grimm’s body.

He quickly tore open a dimensional gap and took out an energy stone that had a concealment magic array that was made out of six different types of energies.

He cast out a consecutive burst of spatial spells. After piercing six holes on the rock beneath his feet, he started to organize his magical array patiently without caring for the fierce battles that were going on hundreds and thousands of meters from him.

Moments after, Grimm let out a sigh of relief. As the magical array became activated, the area rippled in a wave-like manner. The s.p.a.ce above the rock became empty; Grimm’s body disappeared into thin air.

Splas.h.!.+

Suddenly, not far from Grimm, a huge wave splashed across the lava lake, throwing the boiling hot golden lava toward Grimm. It was caused by a Lava Giant that crashed into the lake.

“D*mn!”

Grimm hastily retreated from the rock to avoid the splash. He left the boundaries of the concealment magic array.

After surveying his surroundings, there were a few Lava Giants and Amonros chasing in the sky, but they did not notice Grimm’s tiny body.

“Gah!” Myna let out a sharp screech. It quickly got hold of his heart of the lava that almost fell to the ground and stored it in the dimensional gap.

As the lake gradually turned calm, Grimm quickly went into the magical array again after noticing the ripples in the middle of the lake, a sign that the Lava Giant was about to emerge.

Like a clear wave of water, Grimm’s body disappeared again.

Splas.h.!.+ The Lava Giant that had fallen into the lake was tearing out the charred remains of Amonros that were hanging on to its body. It flew into the sky again after letting out a thunderous roar.
