Kraft gave the opening shot as the leader of the Star Foxes.
It looked and even sounded like a simple gun shot but everyone in the team had already seen the explosive powers of a single bullet especially when they were supposed to work harder than the Commando Mages and knew the effects of it happening.
Even though they were supposed captured villains of Ress, that does not discount the fact that they were still humans. The Star Foxes still needed to work hard to reach a certain level and their motivation to come up to the top was different from the others especially when Kraft was the leader of their gang.
The bullet flew quite a distance despite it being shot out from a gun instead of a rifle. However, the moment it impacted on to one of the Dune Sh.e.l.l Orcs, the radius of the explosion was significantly bigger and exceeded the expectations of the Star Foxes.
The shockwaves even reached them and the bamboo forest that it even forced one or two Star Foxes to cancel their casting just to hold on to the Bamboo for support.
"Whew. Looks like Peppers would have appreciated such a magnificent art scene. Too bad she is not here." Kraft said as he smiled when he saw the second part of the spell starting to take effect. This was because he had combined two spells together and the latter was something that he had invented when he was bored training the Star Foxes.
The bullet that he shot was not some 9mm calibre bullet but a three layered bullet with the inner two portions filled with something that Jin might have been familiar with. The middle layer was a timed spell aegis barrier that was used by Peppers who was able to absorb all sorts of damage from its surroundings and explode the energy barrier to ensure that things die after that.
But what was ingenious about this particular bullet that Kraft had shot was that the final innermost portion of the bullet was not some simple explosive spell either.
For the inverse of an outward explosion was a black hole.
But the reason why he used the aegis to protect the black hole spell rather than activating it was mainly due to its activation time. The spell activation needed time and an immense amount of energy to cast the spell and Kraft did not have that kind of energy to cast three spells at once. So why not use the explosive spell he cast to power it up? That was what he thought.
He a.s.sumed that if it did not work, at least the first explosive spell would be a glorious scene to look at. In fact, he was actually dying to use such 'creative' use of spells for the longest time ever but there was never an outlet for him to do so.
This was the first time that he was able to do so and to see his experiment come to fruition. Hence, the explosive spell went off first, killing many within its intended radius and injuring thousands with its power and shockwave but at the core of it, the aegis absorbed the bulk of the energy, causing it to explode once more.
Kraft had also tweaked it so that the barrier did not only explode outward but also threw its energy in all directions, allowing the aspect of the black hole spell to activate as well.
Hence with one bullet, Kraft had caused a devastating amount of damage on the Dune Sh.e.l.l Orcs, followed by a delayed explosion and subsequently a blackhole that starts to suck the and decimate the surrounding Orcs.
And because of the amount of energy that the Black Hole had been activated with, it was lasting longer than Kraft had expected as well as its size. The Dune Sh.e.l.l Orcs who were within its vicinity were all panicking and attempted to run away from it.
With the rear of their army in chaos, the Star Foxes had started to unleash their own brand of grand scale magic. Earthquakes happened to not only stop the Dune Sh.e.l.l Orcs in their tracks but also drop hundreds in the crevices made from the spell. Lava blast spells were subsequently released through those crevices ensuring those who were in the crevices were killed and overflowed to the land.
That was where the Star Foxes specialised in wind and air manipulation spread the everflowing lava, creating a Lava Hurricane, killing the Dune Sh.e.l.l Orcs before they had any time to react. That was where the Water based Star Foxes started to cast their storm spells alongside the Star Foxes who used Lightning.
The rain drops turned into deadly icicles with the aid of the Ice Mages within the group and it was further compounded by the hurricane that plagued the Dune Sh.e.l.l Orcs.
"See! When you put your mind to it, you all can definitely achieve it!" Kraft clapped loudly as the scores of Dune Sh.e.l.l Orcs were eliminated from the combination of grand scale spells that the Star Foxes had made. However, such usage of spells had forced the Star Foxes to be in a state where they would need time to gather their magic again before they could cast them again.
The only problem with that was they did not have such luxury since the casting of such spells had revealed their positions to the enemies.
Hence the only retaliation that they can do is through the limited bullets and rifles they were left with. While Jin did give them an emergency mana boosting item, they knew that this was definitely not the time to use it. After all, despite the thousands of Dune Sh.e.l.l Orcs they had killed, another thousand few were there to replenish those ranks.
The only respite they had was that Kraft had aimed for the rear end of the army (or that was what they believed), and the Star Foxes would at the very least buy some more time not just for themselves but also for the Bamboo Village that they had been ordered to cover.
