Chapter 1519: Thoughts on the Brink of Death

Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios

After speaking, Bai Yaoyao cut off the rope with the dagger, causing her to fall down.

She was in so much pain as the winds scratched her face. Her arm was aching tremendously from the gunshot, and yet, she felt at peace.

She wasn’t afraid of dying. At that moment, memories of the past twenty years of her life flashed through her mind.

In the end, only one person remained in her head—Duan Yanhao.

Despite regretting being unable to find him and see him one last time, she was contented being taken care of and loved by him this past year.

After a long time, Bai Yaoyao finally regained consciousness and was in a daze. She found her surroundings very foreign. Everywhere around her were rocks, as though she was in a rocky cave.

When she moved, her head throbbed excruciatingly. She shook her head to ease the pain and coughed incessantly. Every cough made her feel as though her internal organs were falling out of her body.

After her mind cleared up, she recalled what had happened at the cliff. Her face stiffened. Taking a look at her arm, she realized the bullet seemed to have been removed. Her wound had been bandaged up.

She began to think rationally. Where was she, and who had saved her?

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, a silhouette blocked the sun rays entering the cave. Bai Yaoyao raised her head, and her heart skipped a beat. Her body was shaking.

Her lips trembled, and she was at a loss for words.

“Yaoyao, you’re awake. That’s great.”

Duan Yanhao dropped the wild plants and fowl he caught onto the ground. He strode forward and wrapped Bai Yaoyao in his arms.

Duan Yanhao embraced her so tightly, wis.h.i.+ng that Bai Yaoyao could stay by his side forever.

Bai Yaoyao couldn’t control her tears. With her uninjured hand, she patted Duan Yanhao’s back and was overwhelmed with emotions. She choked up and couldn’t speak at all.

When she was falling off the cliff, the person she wanted to meet most was Duan Yanhao. The only thought she had in her mind was seeing him again.

She hadn’t expected herself to still be alive and even see him when she woke up.

“Yaoyao… Yaoyao?” Duan Yanhao called Bai Yaoyao several times. His gaze was deep, and his voice was hoa.r.s.e, sounding as though he had missed her greatly.

He hadn’t realized how much he missed her, but when he had been ambushed and was on the brink of death, he finally found out how deep his love for Bai Yaoyao was.

Humans only understood their emotions during such crucial moments.

During their fights for their loves, he fought extremely hard to retaliate against the ambush. He didn’t want to die and leave Bai Yaoyao all alone.

He didn’t want her to be sad.

He thought that Yaoyao’s heart was already so fragile, and she couldn’t suffer anymore. He feared that she wouldn’t be able to hold on any longer if he lost his life.

He was also afraid that she would be all alone in this world without a place to call home. He thought that he must stay alive and treat Bai Yaoyao well.

Listening to his voice, she felt so warm. He had already become a part of her, and she couldn’t chase him away anymore.

Shortly after, Bai Yaoyao bawled as she leaned against Duan Yanhao. She took in deep breaths and smelled his unique scent. She choked up and was completely overwhelmed by her emotions.

“Yaoyao, I’m here. I’ve always been here for you. I couldn’t bear to leave you. It’s so great to see you again.”

Duan Yanhao felt dampness on his shoulder and back and knew that she was crying. Her tears seemed to burn his back, making his heart ache for her.
