When Ji Ziming returned, Pei Ge was standing at one side, looking after their children, who were playing on a display bed. Her purity and naivety warmed his heart.

“You’re back.” The woman smiled at him when she saw him back. “What took you so long?”

“Are you worried about me?” He smiled, the small argument he just had with his mother forgotten. His endearing gaze was focused on this woman, unmindful of those around them.

Pei Ge rolled her eyes. “There are so many people here; is it appropriate for you to flirt like this?”

“What are you afraid of? You’re my woman.”

She was speechless. Whenever he talked like this, she truly wanted to ignore him, but he would always act as if nothing had happened.

“Since our children love it so much, we’ll just get this bed.” The man looked at the two, adorable kids on the bed, who were unwilling to leave it, and waved at a staff standing at the side. “Send this bed to my place.”

“Yes, sir.”

“You’ll spoil them like this,” she admonished softly.

“What are you afraid of? Aren’t you around?”

She smiled with her face full of bliss. She looked quietly at the man with endearing eyes and said after a while, “Ziming, I noticed that your side-profile is really das.h.i.+ng!”

“The front of my face is better-looking!” he countered.

“Annoying.” Pei Ge turned around to look away.

Once these four were done with their shopping, they drove to the aquarium, which was owned by the man’s family. The facilities in the aquarium were the best in the capital. Not only were there nationally protected animals in it, the way they raised them were rather professional.

The employees there knew beforehand that their boss would be bringing his wife and children for a visit, so they had been busy preparing all the animals and the facilities since morning.

Ji Ziming parked his car in the place’s carpark and the four entered the aquarium under the warm greetings of the staff. Everywhere inside were service guides, and some staff was even a.s.signed to instruct them on how to use the facilities.

The moment Ran Ran stepped into the aquarium, her attention was drawn to a dolphin on a blue roof, and she whined at her mother to let her have a closer look at it; the latter could only oblige. Thus, their family of four headed to the dolphin exhibit.

Once the dolphin performance ended, the girl ran on stage and had a closeup interaction with the dolphin she had taken a liking to. The sight of a child and fish frolicking was just so breathtakingly beautiful.

The dolphin exhibit echoed with the two kids’ laughter.

“Mom, mom, look, look! The dolphins can laugh!” The girl pulled on her mother’s arm excitedly and told her to look at the pair of dolphins frolicking on the surface of the water. The water splashes made her even happier.

The family of four left the dolphin exhibit and headed to the jellyfish exhibit before going to the fish bay…

By the time they left the aquarium, the sky was already dark. Pei Ge held her kids’ hands and stood at the entrance, waiting for the man to drive his car over.

She was chatting happily with her children when a black Porsche came from the other side of the aquarium with its headlights off and drove straight to her.

Since she was chatting with her kids, she did not notice the car driving toward her at full speed.

By the time she noticed it, the car was only five meters away from her. She quickly pushed her daughter out of harm’s way, while a staff member of the aquarium carried off her son. Just as the employee reached out to pull her away, too, there was a loud thud. In the next second, Pei Ge was seen lying, unconscious, on the ground not too far away from the aquarium.

The Porsche drove past her without stopping.

When Ji Ziming drove over, he saw his woman lying on the floor. Alarms went off in his head , and though the two children’s cries were piercing his eardrums, he had never been as calm as this before.

“Who did it?!” He interrogated the female manager, who was now holding his daughter. The chilliness he exuded made the other too afraid to speak properly.

“S-Sir, I… I saw a black Porsche but didn’t see the person driving it clearly.”

“Send your madam to the hospital. You’re responsible for finding the recording for this incident and giving it to me.”

He pursed his lips as his face became ashen. The way he clenched his fists was as though he were a devil from h.e.l.l. His sharp and intense gaze kept people at bay.

The ambulance arrived in two minutes tops, and before getting in his car, he looked at his crying children and instructed, “Take good care of them and wait for my call.”

“Yes, sir!”

The doors closed, and he looked at his woman lying on the gurney. The splotches of blood on her s.h.i.+rt were piercing to his eyes. Who on earth dared to do this to his beloved right under his nose? Was that person against her or him, or did that person do it for revenge or benefit?

His mind was a mess. He was unable to protect his woman well and could not even guarantee her safety. Something happened to the woman he loved right under his nose.

The man pursed his lips and looked at the medical officer administering emergency treatment on his woman. He seemed to be the one suffering right now instead of the woman lying on the gurney from the way his face grimaced and contorted.

Over ten minutes later, a doctor with a crown of silver reported, “Sir, ma’am’s condition is no longer life-threatening.”
