There was a loud “thwack” as an arrow slammed into the frame of one of the wheels of the wagon.

Cheng Cheng reacted a bit slower than the other two, but his face went dark as soon as he realized what just happened.

They had no idea about the intended object of the arrow––what they saw was that the arrow was aimed towards Jiang Pengji. They immediately jumped to the conclusion that someone had attempted to murder her.
