The Great Worm Lich Chapter 94 - Snack

A beaver was an amphibian mammal which looked like a rat. It had sharp teeth, webbed rear feet and expert in swimming. Such an animal usually lived in a deep lake or next to a pond. After they settled down, they would spend the rest of their lives building a dam using saplings, branches or a branch material by intertwining them which was amazing. It caused the water level of the pond they were living in to continuously increase. Sometimes the dam that they built could reach hundreds of meters in size.

Under human civilization’s influence, the Amazon River had vast watercourse whereby flood would hardly happen in the jungle even if it was the monsoon season. However, since the beaver changed the water level, it was a different story since the dam would crash.

“I heard about beavers from my biology teacher. Isn’t it a rare animal, why are there so many of them gathered here!”

“Because this is the Amazon Tina, it’s speculated that there are up to tens of millions types of animals living in a group while many of them are yet to be discovered by humans..”

A giant hornet with a spike on its mouth and tail flew by flapping its four wings far away above the rainforest as Zhang Lisheng was speaking. It was going towards the beavers in the lake.

“Lisheng, that giant bee looks like the one that you killed a few days back. I guess they’re also a living thing that has yet to be discovered by humans,” Tina said softly in shock watching the giant hornet that was flying into the group of beavers that caused a big commotion far away. It was killing the beavers mid-air and sucked their flesh and blood dry until only their skins were left.

Zhang Lisheng was shocked to see the strange hornet for the second time. He knew very well that eating the strange hornet was beneficial to his wizard worms. However, after looking at the extremely agile and strange hornet that was flying in the air, Zhang Lisheng gave up the plan to attack the strange hornet. He lowered his voice and the words slipped, “The Amazon didn’t create such a monster, perhaps it’s a monster from a supernatural realm that the ‘bookmark’ brought. Stop thinking so much, it’s too dangerous here, let’s go right now,” He then controlled his wizard worm to sneak into the rainforest silently.

The dense trees in the jungle were like a s.h.i.+eld separating the inside and outside of the jungle into two different worlds. The heavy rain did not go through the dense treetops, they became raindrops on the ground. The sun could only s.h.i.+ne through the green leaves, it became dimmed with only spotted lights s.h.i.+ning into the rainforest. In the dimmed jungle, Island Dragon extended its slender body and carried the three of them to walk along the lake’s sh.o.r.e.

“We’ll avoid that giant hornet and walk to the lake’s inlet. It should be easier to find the city if we walk along the watercourse.”

Since ancient times, humans had gotten used to living where the water was. What Zhang Lisheng said undoubtedly made sense. The two ladies’ eyes lit up and went ‘hmm’ at the same time. As they were walking in the dimmed jungle for a while, there was a shout that went ‘yaruchichiga…’ and sound that went ‘pupu…’ that was getting closer and closer into his ears. Zhang Lisheng’s body became stiff and controlled Island Dragon to stop walking.

“It’s a human’s voice, it’s the natives who are speaking!” Tina who was behind him said, “We’ve finally encountered a human. That’s great, we’ve gotten out of the jungle…”

“It’s true that we’ve finally encountered a human but they could be the kind of human who eats another human.”

“It doesn’t matter if we encountered cannibals when you’re here with us. Moreover, such a thing is highly impossible. Let’s talk to them, perhaps there’s a city nearby.”

“They’re here without us initiating to talk to them. It’s better if we hide and see what they’re after,” Zhang Lisheng had gotten off Island Dragon’s back and walked quickly behind a huge tree. The two girls could only follow where they got off the wizard worm and hid next to Zhang Lisheng. Tina said softly, “Sigh Lisheng, people can tell from a glance that you’re Chinese after getting to know you. You’re so careful and overly cautious.”

“Thanks for your compliment but keep quiet, Tina,” Zhang Lisheng said and began to softly chant a witchcraft incantation, controlling Island Dragon to go invisible and crawl onto a huge tree. The special ‘pupu…’ sound that came from a human stepping onto a wet jungle ground was getting louder while the natives’ shout was getting louder too.

Soon, the three of them who was hiding behind the tree faintly saw a skinny silhouette. What appeared before them was a naked silhouette on top with blood spots and dirt all over his body. He was using both of his arms and legs, crawling and rolling in the jungle with the attempt to escape with all of his might. The silhouette tried his best to run further away but he was exhausted all of the sudden and fell onto the ground. He slid a few meters out on the slippery muddy ground and crashed into a dead tree. There was a soft bone cracking sound in his body.

Not long after the skinny silhouette fell, two tanned skinny natives came swinging on vines from far away. They had strange accessories hanging on their neck while they only had a soft leaf and hard sh.e.l.l covering their private parts. In the dimmed and dense jungle, they shouted ‘ohohoh…’ as they hopped to their prey with fire in their eyes.

Soon, the over ten natives gathered to their tribe’s scout side and looked at the skinny silhouette that was not moving on the ground. Their leader pulled out a bone blade while smiling cunningly, a strange ‘tss…’ sound came above their heads when he was about to sever their prey’s head.

The two natives were tossed out by an invisible force later on. In midair, their bodies were torn apart like a piece of torn cloth. Their organs and blood were flowing out. At the same time they died, the other three natives showed pain on their faces all of the sudden. However, the expression did not last for even a second. The three natives seemed to have all of the water sucked out from their bodies whereby they turned into rotten skin.

Meanwhile, the native leader who pulled out a bone blade was puzzled with what was happening. He lost the bottom half of his body while he waved both of his hands on his upper body while looking lost. He lied on the ground looking at his organs that were spilled all over the ground and groaned continuously.

Half of the over ten native hunters were killed in an instant. At that moment, the survivors noticed a giant lizard with a long body and cold eyes appeared next to them while munching. The remaining natives were stunned, ‘wawa…’ they screamed and threw the poisonous darts in their hands towards the giant lizard. They scattered and ran into the jungle.

It was clear that they knew it was impossible for them to kill the monster before them when there were only a few of them left. The only thing that they could do to keep themselves alive was to run away with the help of the dense trees in the rainforest. Unfortunately, it was impossible for them to turn their body into nothingness no matter how fast they were moving and no matter how familiar they were with the jungle. All of the natives suffered a fatal attack by Island Dragon which could run in a straight line no matter how complicated the terrain was when they ran less than 30 meters away.

“We’re safe now,” Zhang Lisheng walked out of the big tree after he successfully killed the natives with high efficiency by controlling his wizard worm calmly. He revealed a smile of satisfaction absorbing the natives’ negative emotions coming from their fear of death and helplessness. Meanwhile, Tina who was behind him stared at the young man’s back in shock. As if she had just realized after witnessing this genocide, how merciless the man before her really was when he encountered enemies, even if those were just potential enemies.

Trish, on the other hand, was shrieking her lungs out, “Dead, they’re all dead. Yes, these natives were chasing after someone but… but we have no idea who they’re chasing after. Perhaps it’s… criminal or… or… Oh G.o.d, how… how could you kill so many people before you even asked anything…”

Zhang Lisheng ignored the girl’s shriek, he walked and squat down next to the native leader whose body was sliced into half. His mouth was still opening and closing like a fish, Zhang Lisheng pulled off the bunch of accessories on the native’s neck.

“They’re cannibals, cannibals who bring ‘snacks’ with them,” He turned around and walked to Trish who was still shrieking and said expressionlessly, “He’s only left with half of his face, he has a rare red-wine hair just like you. Do you recognize him?”

The two girls looked at the thing Zhang Lisheng held in his hand in shock. It was the head of a red-haired young man with a thick tree-climbing rope pa.s.sing through his ear. His skin and flesh were clearly cooked before and the flesh on his face was eaten entirely. Trish held her shriek back and went blank for a long time. All of a sudden, she s.n.a.t.c.hed the head off Zhang Lisheng’s hand, “No, oh G.o.d no… no… no…”

“Take a closer look, the light here’s weak,” The young man had finally shown kindness and reminded.

“It’s Henry, Henry did hemangioma surgery on his left eye before. He has a… a very small scar at his eye,” Tina held Trish tight and said while shaking. Zhang Lisheng held his head down and looked at the rather small oval-shaped human head that was completely dehydrated and an obvious, tiny dent on the head’s eye. He said softly, “I’m so sorry.”

“No, oh G.o.d, oh G.o.d no…” Trish seemed like she did not know any other words at the moment. She shrieked her lungs out for a while and suddenly, she walked to the native leader while carrying her brother’s head. The native leader’s pupils had fully dilated and he was left with his one last breath. Trish held the bone blade up and stabbed him with all of her might. Soon she stabbed the half body into a pile of b.l.o.o.d.y, mushy meat.

“Trish… Trish my dear please stop…” Tina was in great shock and she wanted to stop her immediately but Zhang Lisheng stopped her, “I think it’s better that she let it all out.”

Tina stopped walking after hesitating a bit, “I didn’t expect the Amazon to really have cannibals. I was secretly judging you for killing, I didn’t expect…”

“I would still kill these natives even if I didn’t see the head. They’re too dangerous since we can’t communicate with them.”

Tina removed her thoughts of Zhang Lisheng being cruel when he spoke, “Oh yea, there’s that person who the natives were going after. I wonder how he is now?” She tolerated the disgust she was feeling forcefully and ran to the escaper who looked like a skeleton under the tree. Tina did not hold the person up recklessly after getting close to him. Instead, she kicked him carefully, “Hi sir, do you understand English?”

The escaper’s head was shaking but he did not respond, Tina realized his neck was broken when she took a better look. She sighed and walked to Trish. She squatted down and hugged her close friend who had collapsed after letting out all the rage she had, “Don’t be sad Trish, Henry’ll rest in peace in heaven. He’s watching you from above, don’t let him worry…”

Hearing her best friend’s comfort, ‘wuwu…’ Trish went as she cried in devastation. Tina could not help but cried with her while hugging her head hearing her cry.
