“President, what do you mean? I am loyal to Thunderbolt Corp and no one else. Why would I be investing in another company?”

Huang Dong tried to explain himself. Cold sweat rolled down his back as he faced Huo Yunting’s unreadable expression.

Huo Yunting kept a thin smile on his face that told nothing about what he really felt inside.

Given the circ.u.mstances and the accusation he was facing, it was hard not to think about the things he had done.

“I see, that’s a shame. I thought President Du’s project is not bad. I would have agreed to work with him had he not offended me. Does this mean… that you will not be working with him, Huang Dong? Will I get the chance to change my mind about his project?”

Huo Yunting raised an eyebrow. “Secretary Lu, inform President Du about this. Tell him I’m inviting him to golf tomorrow and discuss about the cooperation between our companies. I have no problem with financing the project.”

“Yes, sir.” Lu Zhaoyang picked up her bag and walked outside.

Huang Dong watched her leave without a word. How did Huo Yunting find out what I was doing with President Du?

For now, he could only accept and go along with whatever the president was planning.

Lu Zhaoyang returned soon enough with a thin smile on her face. “Sir, President Du said he had already signed an agreement with Huang Dong. However, if you are willing to pay the penalty of him backing out of the agreement, he is happy to discuss about cooperating with Thunderbolt Corp.”

“President, it wasn’t me! That person is not me!”

Huang Dong stood up and shook his head to express his innocence.

Lu Zhaoyang returned to her seat with a professional smile on her face. “Why are you so agitated, Huang Dong? Do you not understand what the president is saying? Thunderbolt Corp never specified that its shareholders cannot get involved in other projects. What the president is saying is that if you need help, he is happy to provide you with support in terms on finance and connections.”

She had begun to understand what Huo Yunting was trying to achieve when she stepped outside to make the call.

Huang Dong could hardly believe Lu Zhaoyang. He looked at Huo Yunting discreetly. Is that what he meant?

Huo Yunting hummed in agreement. “I bear some responsibility for your situation as well. The shareholders must find their dividends lacking if you’re thinking about starting another venture. You are one of the company’s oldest stakeholders, and you deserve all the financial and social support I can offer.”

Huo Yunting raised his gla.s.s and took a sip. “Please consider it, Huang Dong. The money will be ready for you.”

“I wouldn’t dare to ask for such a favor, Mr President!”

Huang Dong raised his gla.s.s and finished it in one gulp, now beginning to believe that Huo Yunting was genuine in making his offer.

He had been very careful. Surely no one would know about what he had done.
