Lin Yazhi was standing right beside Lu as she read the card silently, she grimaced upon seeing the sender’s name and coughed awkwardly as she walked back to her seat, “Okay, time to work. Time to work.”

Lu had enough being the center of attention. She threw the card into the bin and sat down with grace.

“Secretary Lu, won’t you take a look at the back of the card? Who knows, there might be a phone number!” someone kindly reminded.

“Not interested,” mumbled Lu as she glanced at the outrageous, ridiculous gift on her table.

It was quite an eyesore to her, it was distracting.

Not only it was distracting, it was nerve-wracking! Imagine if Huo saw this pompous gift on the table, when the little “rumor” he got yesterday could already set him on fire!

More importantly, who was Jingzhi? Lu did not recall anybody with this name.

She tried searching that name in her mind as her sight wandered upon the roses; the more she thought, the more frequent her sight went back to Lin Yazhi whose shoulders seemed to quiver from time to time.

Lin is looking weird today… not only she did not go further into the gossip, there’s also something bothering me about her.

Wait, that night, at the Mayor’s birthday party…

“Lin, could you get over here?” Lu said kindly, with a gentle sway at her.

“Zhao Yang, why?” She walked to Lu, bewildered.

“Could you please do me a favor? Take this bouquet of roses back to your family and tell this Mr.Jingzhi of yours, that I have no interest in dating a pimp.”

“Nani? What on Earth are you saying, dear? I’m busy, very isogas.h.i.+ desu!” Lin Yazhi mumbled gibberish and went back to her seat like a Road Runner.

Very good acting skill indeed.

Lu thought as she looked at this little brat scratching her head, playing dumb.

She wielded the bouquet and pondered.

Love at first sight? We barely spoke for like a minute? Not sure if I should feel flattered or creeped out by his “love”.

And she took the roses away with her.

The moment the door was shut, the entire Secretary’s Office blew up as the girls gathered at the center for their girls’ talk, whispering with their back arched, peeping outside from time to time, like a sleepover.

Lu walked along the corridor as she dropped the beautifully wrapped roses into the tall bin. She turned to the President’s Office to retrieve the few doc.u.ments she left yesterday.

She briefly knocked and entered the h.e.l.l again, only to see the devil having his eyes glued at the screen. Well, that spelled salvation for her, at least her body would be spared. She just collected the doc.u.ments and rearranged it into numerical order to let the devil lay his signatures.

“Ahem, sir, need signature. Now.”

Huo frowned upon her, “What’s the rush? You want a date tonight?”

“…”

There we go again. I had heard about men having menstrual cycles too, it must be true.

However, on second thought, Lu remembered what caused his rage again.

“Well, investigate all you want. I swear I don’t know this Lin Yazhi guy. I’m totally innocent.”

Lu seriously could already imagine the president had been watching her through the security camera at her office.

“Oh, you knew his name? That’s fast of you, Lady Holmes.”

“Just a guess.”

“Only if you have such instinct on a man’s heart.”

Huo Yunting withdrew the pen from the rack and gracefully signed above his t.i.tle.

“I have no interest in that. President Huo, I am your secretary, not your mind reader. My job scope does not include guessing a man’s heart,” said Lu calmly with a flat tone, although she felt unease at this. Everything had made sense for her, no wonder Madam Xue called her to show “concern”.

Huo did not reply. He tossed his pen into the rack and rested against his throne, watching the screen blankly again. Lu then obediently left the room with the signed doc.u.ments, before speaking out at last, “Something feels fishy.”
