Her bosom rose and fell tumultuously in rage, as she felt something seeping out of her lips. She imagined her saliva, yet it tinted her finger scarlet upon touch.

“Are you out of your mind? What if people see us?”

Once the mark of owners.h.i.+p had been engraved on her lips, the devil felt more relieved, “So what? I just want everybody to see us now. So that someone could be aware that to whom she belongs!” He smiled and halted for a few moments as something fun came into his mind. His smile blossomed, “Lu Zhaoyang, please. What do you expect from the world when you were kissing the other man with the same lips I kissed? Even if you are fine with that, Huo Chen probably isn’t, especially after my confession. So I suggest you to not degrade yourself further.”

“Like your mother,” said Huo as he stormed away from her, with his profile slowly diminis.h.i.+ng into the darkness of the night.

Lu Zhaoyang stood still like the Amah Rock, with tears soundlessly dripping off her slightly smudged make-up. A few moments later, she began rubbing her lips with her fingers, trying desperately to remove the bloodstain as her legs slightly trembled at the thought of her dreamboat so far, faraway. It took her quite some time at the empty ground before she finally managed to lift her broken heart to return to the Huo family’s mansion.

On her way back, she thought a lot, although those thoughts felt more like the white noises in her blanked mind.

Huo Yunting might be harsh with his words, but it was a fact ultimately undeniable that, she could no longer be with Huo Chen. She should realize that she could never be Huo Chen’s woman, therefore she should never again live with their fantasies.

She managed to return to the mansion yet the appearance of the mansion itself was already painted by a kind of monstrous fear as she approached it disheartened. She strenuously pushed open the front door of the mansion. The thick front door of Huo’s mansion made out of rosewood felt strangely heavy and difficult to open with her hands. She antic.i.p.ated, among the strange gazes of people she knew, the cold gaze that stood condescendingly. She imagined the phony concern, harsh comments and disdainful gossips.

She panted and took her heels off, only to discover the silent living room dimly lit by the chandelier.

n.o.body was there.

Feeling salvaged, she walked up the stairs, reckoning another trial awaiting her inside her room. She turned the doork.n.o.b of her room.

It was a fortunate discovery that Huo Chen was not there, who had probably left the mansion for the night. To her surprise, it was Madam Xue on the sofa instead. Lu’s eyes enlarged, before she pulled her expression straight.

Her mother bolted up from the sofa, “Yang Yang…” Upon looking at her haggard daughter with wounded lips, swollen eyes and the dried stream of tears on her cheeks, she dawdled to Lu and led her to the sofa, “What happened to your lips? Why are you crying?”

“I-I’m fine, mommy. I just bit on my lips accidentally while I was taking a walk out there, though I felt I was overreacting tonight… Well, you know your daughter. I am very weak to pain so I cried when I bled.”

She forced her smile but her smudged face was suggesting otherwise.

“I see…” Madam Xue was fully convinced, knowing her daughter’s weakness to pain. She caressed the freezing hand of her daughter carefully.

“Sweetie… would you mind telling your mommy… if you know the second master before this…?” Their interaction blatantly did not look simple as between acquaintances to her. Lu had foreseen the inquiry—Huo Chen was overdoing his care as her boyfriend, as he basically gave himself away when he demonstrated his knowledge even on her likings.

She could have fabricated a good lie but she was too drained to be the friendly star at a media press, “I don’t.” Lu let go of her mother’s hand and directly headed to the bed. She took off her slippers, “Mother, I’m tired. So, good night.”

Madam Xue sighed upon seeing her daughter sinking into her blanket. She had a lot of questions to ask but the press was apparently off. “Maybe I was overthinking…” She muttered.

Well, it would be good news if I could earn Huo Chen’s support.

Thought she as she tiptoed away.

The moment the door was shut, tears broke loose again.
