The next day, when Huo Yunting woke up, the woman beside him was gone.

He looked around the silent bedroom, and felt a little unsure of her whereabouts.

He wanted to know if she was downstairs, right now. He picked up her bathrobe from the floor, casually wrapped it around his waist, and then went downstairs.

Lu Zhaoyang was having breakfast when she saw him. She nearly threw up the milk in her mouth, managed to swallow it just in time, but into the wrong place.

“Cough cough cough!”

She racked a few loud coughs, and then a large hand began to pat gently on her back.

What is with him walking around almost fully naked? Does he really not mind that the bathrobe covers only his private parts?

She looked around at the servants in the dining hall, and found that they were all looking away with unusual interest at something that was not Huo Yunting.

The man himself sat down beside her and eyed the cup of milk that she placed on the table. He called to the servants, “Get another cup!”

She had just cracked the sh.e.l.l against the table when the egg was s.n.a.t.c.hed from her.

Huo Yunting took it and began to peel. He looked like he was treating the job seriously.

There are more eggs left. Why must he take hers?

A new cup of milk was soon served to her. Lu Zhaoyang ignored him and began to sip on it slowly.

When she placed her cup back down, a cleanly peeled egg dropped into her bowl.

It was perfectly peeled, and looked very enticing.

Nevertheless, Lu Zhaoyang eyed him skeptically. “Did you wash your hands? Are they dirty?”

“This is my first time serving a woman, and you’re complaining about my hygiene?”

Huo Yunting’s eyes narrowed in mirth as he tapped on her bowl. “Try it!”

“If you love it so much, you can have it yourself. I’m stuffed!”

She stood up and left, but not before grabbing one of the unpeeled eggs in the sharing bowl.

Huo Yunting looked at the peeled egg in her bowl. It laid there quietly, taunting him.

He stood up abruptly, breakfast untouched, and went to work sulking.

When he pa.s.sed by the secretary office, he lingered to look around.

Lu Zhaoyang was at her desk, inspecting some doc.u.ments.

Tsk… So you still have the mood to work?

This woman, she’s grown bold.

Lu Zhaoyang had only missed work for two days, but her backlog was already piling up. As expected, being lazy had its consequences.

Just as she was deeply absorbed in her work, someone dropped a handful of melon seeds on her desk. She frowned and looked up to see Lin Yazhi. “Thank you, but now is not the time to eat melon seeds and chat.”
