She deleted her browsing history as usual and watched the television for a while before packing her laptop and going to bed.

Huo Yunting came back around midnight. He was probably quite drunk, for he simply took a shower and went to bed without a word.

Working days were actually more enjoyable for Lu Zhaoyang. At the very least, she did not have to face Huo Yunting every moment of the day at home.

Lu Zhaoyang went through the doc.u.ments on her desk. She was signed in to her personal mailbox the entire time.

Just as she was deeply engrossed in the papers, she heard a soft notification sound from her laptop. She checked around her quickly before opening her new message.

Her body froze when she read the message.

She forced herself to calm down and forget about what she had just read as she close the browser tab.

All her mood for work was gone as she stared at her computer screen.

Chen’s message was succinct.

“Today.”

They were leaving today!

But what about Huo Yunting?

The phone on her desk rang amidst her agitation. The call was from Huo Yunting’s direct line.

“Come in here.”

He spoke through the phone imperiously.

Lu Zhaoyang ended the call and exhaled deeply before she stood up to make her way to Huo Yunting’s office.

Just as she opened the door to his office, Huo Yunting pulled her in and pressed her against the wall!

“What are you doing?” Lu Zhaoyang felt her back against the cold wall behind her and shuddered.

Huo Yunting noticed it and pulled her into his arms in response. “You are coming home with me right now.”

Lu Zhaoyang immediately felt anxious upon hearing him.

She had just received Chen’s message when Huo Yunting started to behave so strangely.

Could he have noticed?!

Was he bringing her home, stopping her from leaving the house…

Lu Zhaoyang nearly lost her focus as she looked up at him. “It’s working hours now, why are we going home?”

Huo Yunting studied her cautious expression for a long while before smiling again.

“Nothing. I was just teasing you.”

She nearly freaked out because of his silly joke.

“There is a very important city summit at ten thirty that I have to attend.”

Huo Yunting pulled her closer to him at the waist and whispered enticingly by her ear, “You wanna come with me?”

“No!” She replied without hesitation.

Huo Yunting was not bothered by her and continued teasing, “I’ll be bored to death without you. Those old losers will take forever to decide on things. Ms Lu, it’s time to demonstrate your willingness to sacrifice for other people.”

Lu Zhaoyang could feel his body heat through their close contact. She shook her head and said, “It’s safer if I don’t go. What if you suddenly threaten me again at such an important event? I’ll stay back at the office while you attend the summit yourself.”

Huo Yunting loosened his arm around her waist and asked, “Are you sure? I’m not coming back tonight, do you think you can sleep well without me?”

“Don’t worry, I will sleep like a baby!”

After today, he will never be by her side again.

“Alright. Since you’re willing to discuss things peacefully with me, I will let you off this time.”

Huo Yunting put his hands in his pockets and nodded toward the door.

Lu Zhaoyang took his cue and left the office. Her heart was still beating furiously long after she left him.

No wonder Chen picked today. He must have known that Huo Yunting would be away.
