Lu Zhaoyang got up to get herself a few sips of warm water before plunging herself into the pool of doc.u.ments again.

It was already dusk when snow fell again. Cl.u.s.ters of crystalized beauties rode the freezing wind and knocked at the window continuously. Just when Lu Zhaoyang was fully indulged in the ambience of the office, the landline rang again. She nearly choked at the warm water she was drinking. “Who the heck will call at this point of time?” She wondered.

“What?” She became bewildered the moment she saw the caller ID, it was from the president’s office.

“He’s still here?” She picked up the call in utter curiosity, as she remembered the weather forecast calling for heavy snow that day. He should have returned home for shelter.

“h.e.l.lo, president, yes?”

“My office, now.”

“If it’s regarding the progress of the latest project, I have not looked into the proposal completely.”

I mean it’s almost as thick as the Bible, I might be shouting for G.o.d if I have to finish it today!

“I said, *now*.” The call was then hung up.

The heck is wrong with him again?

She could not tell what the president wanted from her again. She just took the proposal with her on the way to the office.

There was already n.o.body else in the company. She decided to just barge into the office without knocking at the door.

The president was resting on his throne as he stared at his woman walking towards him through his expressive eyes.

“President—Regarding the proposal…”

“Get over here.” Huo Yunting curved his index finger a few times.

“What do you want? Just say it. I can hear you just fine here.” She stood still right before his desk.

“Great. Now you won’t obey my orders even as my employee.” He let off a long breath, “Well, it’s your special day today, I’ll spare you.” He then withdrew a rather well-crafted wooden case from the drawer and pushed it towards her.

Out of complete confusion she surveyed the wooden case with extreme caution as if dealing with Pandora’s catastrophic box.

Is this a Jack-in-the-box prank?

She wondered.

“It’s a present from me. Open it and see if you like it.”

“No thanks. Your kindness is appreciated. If you want to give me something, could you do it AFTER I finished my work?”

She hated having OT even on her birthday and she had already worked 2 hours over her usual schedule.

The president got up, took the box and walked to her, “Now you don’t even want your present. You better think this through.”

He opened the box, revealing a precious accessory.

“Uh…” Lu Zhaoyang froze upon the sight. It was a bracelet, made out of polished jade, as the superiority of the craftsmans.h.i.+p could be very much seen. It simply looked extravagant and expensive. “This is too precious. I can’t take it.”

She was never accustomed to wearing s.h.i.+ny jewelry all over her body anyway.

“No? What present do you want then? A news flash to your mother regarding your actual marital status with extra emphasis on the name of your legal husband?” He then picked out the bracelet and threw the wooden case onto the table.

“Do you think blackmailing is the right way to go? Don’t you feel suffocated by what you did?” She felt like punching his handsome face.

She actually lifted her right fist, only to be held by Huo Yunting to put on the bracelet.

He smiled, “It looks lovely. It fits your skin tone so well like me and you.”

Lu Zhaoyang rolled her eyes.

It’s just a piece of jewelry, don’t get all mushy about us.

“You know I don’t like accessories.”

“Start liking them then. It’s a mark to indicate my owners.h.i.+p.”

It was not an ordinary bracelet. It was pa.s.sed down by his grandmother, one meant for his wife. His wife was Lu Zhaoyang, therefore she clearly had all the rights to wear it.
