He sensed danger from what he was seeing.

The door shut behind him. He turned around and asked, “How long do you plan to stay here?”

She must have planned to stay in this apartment long term to have put so much heart into its decor.

Lu Zhaoyang did not answer him directly when she complained, “I don’t have indoor slippers here like you do. Don’t dirty the floor. You should know what to do, right, President Huo?”

Unfortunately, Huo Yunting was never one to follow the rules!

Lu Zhaoyang suddenly felt herself being pulled toward him. Huo Yunting put his arms around her neck from behind and teased, “If I can’t step on the floor, then you should just carry me.”

“Enough, how can I possibly carry you?!” Lu Zhaoyang whipped her handbag on his hip but did not continue her futile struggle. She said, “Stop fooling around. I’m going to make dinner, isn’t that what you’re here for?”

“You would have saved us a lot of time had you just got to it earlier.” Huo Yunting grinned and let her go.

Lu Zhaoyang turned to glare at him for his ungratefulness.

She tossed her handbag on the sofa and disappeared into the kitchen.

Huo Yunting took off his leather shoes and made a slow tour around the apartment, which ended in her bedroom.

He had taken a liking to the place.

It was probably because there was only one bed in the apartment.

After a while, the smell of food began to fill the air. Huo Yunting entered the kitchen to take a look.

Lu Zhaoyang wore a sky blue ap.r.o.n as she focused intently on cooking. She handled the wok and spatula expertly.

Huo Yunting rarely saw her cooking. He did not pay much attention the last time.

He found her to look quite attractive this way.

He leaned against the door frame and took in the way she cooked with focus and womanly care.

Dish after dish were served out of the wok. Huo Yunting found Lu Zhaoyang to be considerate in preparing more food because of his visit.

“Wash your hands!” Lu Zhaoyang huffed as she poured soup into a large bowl.

“Of course.”

The dining room was right beside the living room. The dining table was transparent and rectangular, much like the one back at his mansion.

Huo Yunting studied the dishes. Despite looking mild and plain, he still found them appetizing.

It also meant that Lu Zhaoyang had been taking care of her diet and avoiding unhealthy food.

“I want alcohol.” Huo Yunting said in an almost demanding fas.h.i.+on.

“Do you think that I will have alcohol here now that I live alone? Drink the soup!” Lu Zhaoyang pointed with her chopsticks at the ribs and lotus root soup on the table.

“Since I am in a good mood today, I’ll take your advice.” Huo Yunting sluggishly took a spoonful of soup and tasted it. It was delicious.

He recalled that Xue Yuming was an excellent cook. Her daughter should be similarly skilled.

Lu Zhaoyang threw a look at him. She was certainly no chef, so he could either take it or leave it!

She munched slowly as she pondered on how she had been having dinner by herself recently.

Now that there were two of them, she felt a little something more.

It felt almost… cozy.

Surely that was an illusion?

There was no way she would have that feeling with Huo Yunting!

She closed her eyes and banished that terrifying thought and ate faster.

After dinner, Lu Zhaoyang cleared the dishes and went to take a shower. She smelled like food after all that cooking.

When she was done, she came out to find that Huo Yunting was… gone.
