While Huo Yunting waited for Lu Zhaoyang to come closer again, she had already left.

Why is she getting off to work so early? He wondered.

Snippets of last night kept replaying in his mind. He smiled with his lip curling up at the corner.

Things got busy the moment Lu Zhaoyang stepped into the office. The reform of Ge Yu was finally on track, but the president was still nowhere to be found. She thought he had changed but apparently not.

Suddenly, she received an email from Xiang Jinxi.

What? He asked her to accompany him to a business dinner tonight?

Lu Zhaoyang could not help but be baffled. As far as she knew, Xiang Jinxi rarely attended such meeting.

She simply replied, “Alright.”

In the evening, Lu Zhaoyang clocked off on time. She wanted to take a taxi, but Xiang Jinxi had arranged for a chauffer to pick her up.

In front of the hotel lobby, Lu Zhaoyang got off the car. The chauffeur looked back and pointed to a direction. “Mr. Xiang is waiting for you in that silver car.”

“Thank you, I know.” Lu Zhaoyang walked toward the silver Aston.

When Xiang Jinxi saw her coming, he got off, and the two met.

“President.”

“Mhm.” He responded indifferently and proceeded to the hotel entrance.

Lu Zhaoyang followed behind him accordingly.

Once in the hotel, Xiang Jinxi glanced back at her. “Are you wearing just like this?”

Lu Zhaoyang looked down at her suit. “Is there a problem? I am here for business, not selling my body.”

Xiang Jinxi’s cold gaze moved away from her and moved ahead as if he had never asked the question before.

Once they arrived at the destination, it dawned on Lu Zhaoyang that they did not come to dinner, but a business c.o.c.ktail party.

She could have blamed Xiang Jinxi for not giving her the heads up.

She was the only woman at the scene wearing a business suit, and it was embarra.s.sing.

After spotting their target, Lu Zhaoyang took a gla.s.s of wine and walked up with Xiang Jinxi with a smile.

“President He, long time no see.”

“Hey, isn’t she Miss Lu, the secretary?” The middle-aged man whom they addressed as President He smiled and clinked gla.s.ses with her. “Is President Huo also here tonight?”

Lu Zhaoyang took a sip of wine and replied with a smile, “I don’t know. I have resigned and now working for another company.”

Hearing that, President He turned to look at Xiang Jinxi with astonishment.

“Which company is it?”

“President He, this is the president of Ge Yu, my current boss,” Lu Zhaoyang said briefly. “If you have the time, why not we sit down and talk?”

“Of course. Secretary Lu!”

President He glanced at her and then took a sip of the wine as he walked to the VIP area.

Lu Zhaoyang’s mission was basically over up to this point. She found that Xiang Jinxi did talk a lot and concisely when it was necessary although he was a man of few words.

“Secretary Lu, I had not heard about this company before. How did you find it? You really have your own ways!”

President He clinked gla.s.ses with her again while glancing at Xiang Jinxi from the corner of his eye. He felt that this guy exuded an extraordinary air.

He did not seem to be just an executive of a small-medium company.

“I just randomly sent out my resume. If you may, let’s keep in touch, and we may have an opportunity to work together someday.”

After that, Lu Zhaoyang expertly made a toast to him.

President He downed his gla.s.s of wine. “Sure. By the way, allow me to excuse myself; I need to meet other business partners now. You guys, have fun!”
