“Just be careful wherever you go. I got to go now.” Huo Chen also knew he should not be out here for too long.

“I will.”

Despite having said goodbye, they both still stood there.

At last, it was Lu Zhaoyang who first broke the crippling nostalgia. She pushed the door open and walked into the ward without looking back. As she walked, she could hear Huo Chen’s departing footsteps. She pursed her lips and poured a gla.s.s of water before sitting down at the bedside.

Not only Huo Yunting’s face but his lips had lost vigor; they had become pale and dry. Lu Zhaoyang took a sip of water, lowered her head, and slowly forced the water into his mouth. She seemed to feel his tongue was moving. Immediately, she got to her feet and glared at him.

Was it an illusion?

Suspiciously, she took another sip and fed the water to him with her mouth. His tongue moved again, it seemed, as if it was reaching for her tongue. She would have splashed the gla.s.s of water directly on his face if not for he was still unconscious. Huo Yunting behaved like a rascal even when he was unconscious.

“Huo Yunting, you are beyond salvage!”

She sat down in anger and drank the rest of the water.

When Huo Li came in, he found that Lu Zhaoyang looked cheesed off, glaring at Brother Ting who was still bedridden. He would never understand the world of married men and women.

“Sister-in-law, here comes your dinner.” Huo Li put two thermal containers down. “Brother Ting should wake up soon.”

“Oh, he is.”

He was scampish even when drinking water; apparently, he was awake. Did he do this to every woman he met?

As if Huo Yunting had lived up to her expectation, he slowly opened his eyes.

“Lu Zhaoyang.”

Huo Yunting sounded weak. The other two quickly came up to the bedside.

Huo Yunting felt his arm was painful and tight from the st.i.tches of his wound. He could not even lift his hand up. A small soft hand was holding his uninjured hand.

“How are you? Do you feel better? Hungry?” Lu Zhaoyang excitedly held him up. “Huo Li, call the doctor!” Huo Yunting sat up with her help. He only injured his arm, but she reacted as if he had a terminal illness.

Huo Li immediately got out looking for the doctor.

There were now only two of them. Huo Yunting leaned closer to her and his voice was weak.

“I am wounded because of you. How are you going to repay me?”

“That’s why I am taking care of you now. Stop talking, you look terrible now.”

“I am hungry.” He could shut up; he needed to eat now.

He had eaten nothing since noon; same went to Lu Zhaoyang. She put down his hand and went for the thermal food containers. The doctor came. Huo Li and Lu Zhaoyang looked on nervously as the doctor examined Huo Yunting.

But the patient was relaxed all the while as if it was just a small cut.

“Mr. Huo is fine. Be careful with the diet, eat light food, and do not let water come into contact with the wound.”

As soon as the doctor left, Huo Li bowed his head and looked like a scared kid. “Boss, I am here to confess my incompetency. I have not caught the a.s.sa.s.sin.”

Huo Yunting shot him a glance. What a b.u.m, he thought and pointed at the door with his chin. “Get out of my sight. Don’t ruin my appet.i.te.”

“Yes, boss.”

Huo Li left with his tail between his legs. He must get the guy who shot his boss. Lu Zhaoyang sat beside him. “You must not move your hand now. I will feed you.”
