Lu Zhaoyang followed his steps immediately, “How I wish it was money that I owed you instead—A few millions sound way easier to repay than emotional debts…” She sighed, “Like literally—I have no idea what you’re thinking and what you want now.”

“Well if repaying debts is as easy as you’d imagine, people like your mother would have taken over the world,” he said s.a.d.i.s.tically.

Zhaoyang grabbed her collar as she grimaced, “And now you won’t be happy with whatever I do.” She got into his Rolls-Royce and sat tight. The car zoomed away right after she fastened her seatbelt.

BANG!

You did not see it wrong. It was in fact a gunshot coming from the hall.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Zhaoyang got up and turned to have a look.

The car slowed down as the driver stepped on the brake carefully. Being one of Huo Yunting’s drivers sure gave him the courage to stay calm during gun scenes like this or he might have crashed and lifted the car on a severe halt out of shock.

“Huo Yunting, is everything fine?”

President Xiang was still inside and Zhaoyang felt gooseb.u.mps all over her body thinking so.

Okay, I need to call 911 and I need to check out the situation…

She pulled the handle and was going to leave the car. Huo Yunting dragged her back in and s.n.a.t.c.hed her phone away, “Yes, you and I are fine. So DON’T GO AND BECOME SOMEBODY ELSE’S BULLSEYES! Continue driving!”

The car continued moving.

“I’m just worried if there would be casualties,” she swung away the gripping hand that ached her wrist. Right when she was ma.s.saging her poor wrist, Huo Yunting leaned towards her as the tip of their noses contacted, “You are just worried if your new boss has casualties, you like him?”

“ABSOLUTELY NOT!” She almost instantly replied, “Well, of course I wouldn’t want my employer to get into anything.”

“Hmm, okay, I won’t stop you. Go there yourself if you want to,” said Huo Yunting as he laid back, snorted and unb.u.t.toned the topmost b.u.t.tons on his s.h.i.+rt, “Stop the car!” The car stopped, Huo Yunting looked through the window on the other side, as if letting fate just happened without his supervision.

Lu Zhaoyang remained seated, believing that she might have overthought things.

I mean there were so many guests at the hall and I probably knew none of them except the president. I can’t be Mother Theresa and save everybody.

Speaking of the president, he’s been an extremely low-profiled person. It’s also his first visit to Rong City tonight, he shouldn’t be the target…

“Well, continue driving. I’m not going anymore.”

“Let’s go home.”

And Lu Zhaoyang regretted not taking his every word seriously, because…

Zhaoyang’s eyes went wide as her mouth the moment she saw the road sign.

They drove hours and arrived by Huo Yunting’s mansion by midnight. Huo Yunting slammed the door shut and walked straight into the house, “I have things to do. You sleep alone.”

“Okay.”

The man went to the reading room and left Lu Zhaoyang in the bedroom.

She took a shower and changed into the oversized pajamas Huo Yunting wore. She picked the iPad from her bag, sat on the bed and tapped a few times on Skype, “Hi!” Yan Se smiled gleefully.

That was not the most disturbing thing to Lu Zhaoyang as she was fully distracted by the background where all sorts of snacks and fruits scattered over the place. There were fruit peels on the table, empty packs on the sofa, bits of potato chips on the carpet and of course a few pieces of chocolate into Yan Se’s mouth. She chewed as she put more food into her mouth and looked at Lu Zhaoyang innocently like a hamster.

“Are you sure you have no rats in the house?” Said Lu Zhaoyang with a helpless snort.

“Don’t worry. I have cleaners here every single day. So, what’s the sitch? It’s midnight you know.”

“I just wanted to ask yo…” And she heard the door creaking, during which she immediately put the iPad underneath her blanket.

It was Huo Yunting who went to the bathroom directly. He seemed to be having a shower? It looked safe to Zhaoyang as she pulled the iPad out again.

“Sorry about what happened just now—Yo—”

“I know, I know. Say no more, say no more.”
