She always thought Mu Xian was the cool type who would never marry someone he did not love. Besides, everyone could see how well he treated Ye Zhiyu.

Su Cheng, who was sitting on the other end of the sofa, sighed loudly. “I tried to talk him out of it, but he just ignored me and sat there and drank and drank.”

When he noticed Lu Zhaoyang, he immediately perked up.

“Oh h.e.l.lo there, Yang Yang, you’re practically sparkling today! If any one of them backed out of the marriage later, we should just use this venue anyway. Waste not, want not!”

Su Cheng waggled his eyebrows c.o.c.kily. When he saw the gift she was carrying, he was immediately intrigued. “What’s that in your arms?”

“A gift for… the newlyweds.”

Lu Zhaoyang spoke guiltily and taken by surprise when Su Cheng s.n.a.t.c.hed it away from her.

“Oh, you’re so thoughtful, Yang Yang. On the contrary, crude people like us only ever thought of giving money as presents.” Su Cheng showed off the present to Mu Xian. “If you’re not interested, I will open this for you!”

Su Cheng was born to be curious.

“That is for Mu Xian, you can’t open it!”

Lu Zhaoyang panicked. Mu Xian was obviously against the marriage. If he saw her present, it would be like adding salt to his wound!

Su Cheng saw how desperate she was to take the present back, so he held onto it even tighter. “There’s no way you are taking this back. What can this possibly be? Now I really need to see it!”

“Give it back to me, Su Cheng!” Lu Zhaoyang held on tightly to the present. “Let go!”

Mu Xian sat where he was, unmoved by the petty argument in the room.

Huo Yunting simply watched the two of them fight over the present. He wanted to know what was inside too.

She stumbled backward by sheer force of momentum.

Huo Yunting was quick to catch her by reaching an arm around her back.

“I see that you lost both the present and your balance.”

“Then why didn’t you help me? I thought my belongings are yours too!”

She steadied herself with his support but soon noticed that Su Cheng had already unwrapped the gift.

Huo Yunting, however, was distracted by what she just said and instantly lost interest in the gift.

Her belongings… are his too?
