Lu Zhaoyang had a big appet.i.te and wolfed down half a bowl of congee.

She suddenly heard the door opening, followed by approaching footsteps and the sound of a baby. Lu Zhaoyang was elated. “Is it the baby?”

“Yes.”

Huo Chen stepped aside, watching as the nurse carried the baby in front of Lu Zhaoyang. Behind the nurse stood a rather old-looking doctor.

The nurse knew that Lu Zhaoyang could not see. So, she carefully placed the child in Lu Zhaoyang’s arm in a correct posture.

Lu Zhaoyang groped slowly, and finally her hand came into contact with the baby’s chubby cheek. She suddenly had a lump in her throat and broke out in tears. She and Huo Yunting finally had a baby.

The old doctor suddenly stepped forward and said politely, “h.e.l.lo, lady, how do you feel now? I am going to remove the gauze from your eye if it is convenient for you now.”

“Now?” Lu Zhaoyang wondered. Did she not just come out of the operation theater?

Knowing her confusion, the old doctor explained, “Perhaps because of physical exhaustion and the postpartum surgery, you have been sleeping for a week. Now, let me have a simple check on you.” The doctor looked at Huo Chen, signaling him to wait outside.

Huo Chen nodded and left the ward gentlemanly, hoping that things would be alright.

Lu Zhaoyang did not expect that she had been sleeping so for long. Knowing that the doctor was approaching, she behaved cooperatively.

The curtains were closed to block out the sunlight before the doctor removed the gauze and cleaned up any medication residue around her eye. After that, the doctor left.

Huo Chen could already hear Lu Zhaoyang’s voice as soon as he stepped back in. “I think I can see.”

Huo Chen held his breath and rushed in, only to see the one-eyed Lu Zhaoyang, who could barely open her left eye.

“That’s great!” Lu Zhaoyang had a broad smile across her face. She could now see a faint light in her left eye.

The nurse, carrying the baby in her arms at the side, said with a smile, “Miss Lu, congratulations! You will get better!”

Lu Zhaoyang was happy to regain her vision, albeit partially. She still could not see her baby clearly, but she believed that the day of restoring her full eyesight was not far away.

The nurse looked at the time and said, “Your baby is sleeping so soundly. Let me take care of him. Miss Lu, please get some rest.” The nurse left.

Lu Zhaoyang had just spent a short time with her son before they separated gain. She wished it could be longer, but she understood her situation. But thinking that they could be together once she was discharged from the hospital, she felt more relieved.

The sound of the door closing jolted Huo Chen out of his thoughts. His eyes affixed on her left eye. “Yang Yang, how do you feel now?”

“I can faintly see some light. Chen, it is no longer dark!” Lu Zhaoyang turned to face him excitedly. “It has been a week, has the baby changed?”

“Yeah, he has changed. He is a lot fairer now. It seems he has inherited your gene. His cheeks are so chubby and cute.” Huo Chen, who always had a smile on the face, sat back on the edge of the bed.

Lu Zhaoyang leaned on the headboard; face filled with happiness as she asked with enthusiasm, “Did you just say that he inherited my genes. Does he look like me?”

“Yeah.” Huo Chen refilled another bowl of congee. “Eat some more, and get well faster so that you can go home sooner.”

Lu Zhaoyang wanted to refuse it, but she thought for the best, realizing that she was no longer alone. She needed to take care of herself so that she could take care of her son.
