As for her mother; they had a telephone conversation a long time ago, but Xue Yuming hung up on her just after a while for fear of having anything to do with Lu Zhaoyang. Her att.i.tude had been cold, to say the least.

So, Lu Zhaoyang did not manage to tell her mother about the child. She decided not to disturb her mother and her life again.

The little guy fell asleep in ten minutes after having his milk. Lu Zhaoyang placed him back in the crib and stared at him quietly.

She could now see with her left eye, but she wanted more, hoping her right eyesight would recover so that she could witness the growth of her son with both eyes.

But after three years settling down in Was.h.i.+ngton, Lu Zhaoyang still did not receive any news about the cornea from the hospital.

“Yang Yang!”

While cooking in the kitchen, Lu Zhaoyang heard the kiddish voice calling her. She put down the kitchen knife, turned around and saw little Huo Xu running in with a blushed face.

The kid had grape-like eyes that were large, brilliant, without a single trace of cloudiness. Just like Huo Yunting, it was a pair of bewitching eyes.

Huo Xu had a small but high nose, which he inherited from Lu Zhaoyang. His mouth was luminous, and his cheeks chubby like buns, making people wanting to take a bite.

“Xuxu, walk slowly.”

“Yang Yang, the flower is for you.”

Only slight over at the height of Lu Zhaoyang’s knees, Huo Xu gave the red rose in his hand to her.

“Wis.h.i.+ng our Yang Yang as pretty as ever.”

Lu Zhaoyang chortled, took the flower and bent down to kiss his face. “Thank you, my little gentleman. I will keep the flower. You can play for awhile. Food will be ready in a minute.”

“Okay!” Little Huo Xu strode to the door; it was Huo Chen who taught him this.

Huo Xue looked at the door expectantly. Not long after, Huo Chen pushed the door open and walked in with a little bag in his hand.

Little Huo Xu immediately gave him a very non-standard Z Country military salute. “Daddy, flowers have been delivered to Yang Yang!”

Lu Zhaoyang had acquiesced to Huo Chen teaching Huo Xu to call him daddy so that Huo Xu could live in a complete family like other children. And he called Huo Chen daddy ever since.

“Mission accomplished. Well done!” Huo Chen patted him on the head.

“Thank you, sir!” Huo Chen’s compliment put a broad smile across the little guy’s face.

Huo Chen put down his bag and glanced in the direction of the kitchen.

“You can go to help if you want. I can watch anime myself!” The three-year-old little man took the remote control, turned on the TV, and sat on the couch.

Huo Chen smiled and went into the kitchen.

“I can handle this!” Lu Zhaoyang put the rose in the gla.s.s vase in the kitchen. There were already nine, all given by her son. Looking at the growing number of flowers, she beamed with happiness.

Just then, Huo Chen broke the news. “I got a call from the hospital today. A young man, who has just died, has donated his cornea. It seems to be suitable for your situation. We will go to the hospital to check it out after sending Xuxu to school tomorrow.”

“Okay.” Lu Zhaoyang continued to cut the vegetables with her head lowered. “Go and play with Xuxu. It is greasy in here!”
