As they walked further into the cafeteria, almost everyone stood up and delivered a loud salute to Huo Chen upon exchanging gaze. It was rather stressful for Wen He when the formality turned out to be firmer than she imagined.

And Huo Chen was the sole person who could keep her together. She tailed after him quietly, truly like the wife she was, giving brief nods and a plastic smile as she picked a few dishes onto her plate, before sitting down with Huo Chen in one isolated corner.

“You are the commander, why are you dining here? Isn’t there like a special room for people like you?”

The question only got a glare from Huo Chen.

“Alright, alright. I get it, I get what rule you military men play—all are equal and therefore no exception for anybody in the camp, isn’t it?” Wen He grimaced as her chopsticks squirmed in her bowl, “Do you think I’ll be the fair service lady among the servicemen?”

Huo Chen was chewing his food solemnly before placing down his chopsticks, having his two arms rested onto the table to start his lecture, “First, I don’t like ‘special’ place and treatment. Second, you are *not* a service woman, you aren’t exactly fair either.”

“h.e.l.lo! I’m legally a wife of a serviceman. Was that a form of discrimination?” Her voice rang high and definitely caught attention. Wen He somehow even heard soft laughs from the other end of the room. The soldiers did instantly withdraw their sights after that however. Most of them stayed low.

“We are a joke, apparently…” She lowered her eyes in shame.

“It’s okay.” He expected it.

Huo Chen was always that straight-faced man in the military. On a few occasions, he just greeted the wives of his superior briefly before storming out of the office for other tasks. No one would imagine a dead serious man like him would return with a woman after four years.

The laughs came from his good old brothers who were merely curious like playful children to their even-tempered teacher.

“That aside, I must say your cafeteria serves great good,” she complimented as she had another scoop and pondered for a moment.

“Though, the food is nothing compared to what you make.”

“Don’t speak when your mouth’s full.”

“Cold, ruthless and unreasonable!” She gave a glare and mumbled.

“If you are feeling bored, how about you take up a mission for the night tomorrow?”

“Sure!” I was indeed getting dead bored.

After dinner, Huo Chen let the woman have the blanket as he walked to the study room with his coat.

On the second night, inside the dazzling city of the Capital, a gorgeous woman in a long scarlet backless dress showed up in front of a premium clubhouse. Her feet swayed across the pavement in 10 centimeter tall killer heels as her long hair covered a tiny communicator inside her one ear.

“Safety is your top priority, remember. The information can be taken another time if the mission fails,” reminded Huo Chen.

She turned her head to one side only to see the decently-dressed man in his dark suit ambling towards her expressionlessly.

“Understood.” She combed her hair to one side with her fingers as they entered the l.u.s.trous-looking building. Wen He headed upstairs for the cabin immediately while Huo Chen would go for the one opposite hers.

She had always been that lone ranger when it came to a mission. It felt somehow refres.h.i.+ng yet unsettling when she had someone else in her team on a mission. Wen He gave the door a knock, flamboyance filled her gestures as she grooved her hips into the room filled with the choking smell of alcohol and cigarettes.

It was a simple debut for her mission considering how she often infiltrated places being a hostess. Her words went naturally like her suggestive smile.

“Good evening, fellow gentlemen. My name is Xixi and I’ll be your hostess tonight. My sister fell sick and therefore she let me take the job instead,” she sauntered towards them with her cherry lips pouted as she flipped her hair, flaunting her curves while checking out the people.

Illegal trading of weaponry, a capital crime right under the eyes of the Capital’s authority. They sure are bold if you ask me.
