“Boss, can we come in for a moment?” Said Yan Se by the door.

“Sure.” He made a turn and sat back to the sofa. Yan Se led Lu Bai into the room with a basket of fresh fruits and a fine slice of Xuxu’s favorite cake.

“Okay but only a bit,” said Lu Zhaoyang shaking her head upon seeing Xuxu’s l.u.s.trous eyes.

“Yay! Yang Yang is the best!” He responded with a crisp applause.

“Has your hand fully healed yet? Don’t move unless you want to stay like this forever,” said his mother with a glare which caused the little boy to withdraw his little hands and waited before the cake patiently.

Yan Se and Lu Bai surrounded Xuxu as they began inquiring about the little boy’s health in kind. Lu Zhaoyang was slicing the cake as the man maintained his pa.s.sionate eyes upon her.

“You must be very busy with work now. I think you should head back.”

Well, if that hint couldn’t convince him to leave, what else could?

“Nah, been free, like a bird,” Huo Yunting shamelessly countered her dismissive spell card.

“There’s no function that you have to attend?” She glanced upon him, “You are simply overdressed if you are just staying here tonight.”

“Yeah, for you!” His voice rang low. She was fortunate to have others in the room or she would have been raided by his claws and fangs.

“Looks good,” said Zhaoyang gleefully.

“Thank you for your little ‘surprise’,” muttered Zhaoyang as she gave Yunting a slice of cake, “Here’s a reward for your handsome suit.”

“I don’t want cakes,” he placed down the plate, “You know what I want. I want you back to my side.”

“Well, take it or leave it.” Lu Zhaoyang then left the man alone and sat next to the little boy on the bed to feed him. When the little boy giggled at his last bit of cake, Lu Bai and Yan Se exchanged looks before leaving.

Bai could feel the moodiness in Huo Yunting through his expression. Lu Zhaoyang, however, was utterly oblivious of the adventure Lu Bai had undergone in the past few days. She only imagined him leaving due to some unforeseen circ.u.mstances, like maybe an important client insisted on seeing him elsewhere.

So, without knowing much about Lu Bai’s script on the next few pages, she let them go. She then pa.s.sed Huo Xu her iPad and launched Plants VS Zombies for him. “Yay!!”

She took the empty plates to the washroom while Huo Yunting quickly followed, not forgetting to shut the door upon entry.

“Yes? You want your cake now?” Asked Zhaoyang as she looked at him through the mirror.

“Not a sweet tooth but I don’t mind your lips.” He was not in the mood for food anyway.

“Tsk.” Lu Zhaoyang replaced the washed dishes onto the rack and swung to dry her hands. When she was going to take the towel at the other side, Huo Yunting wrapped himself upon her to have a taste at his dessert.

“Ah—Hmm…” Zhaoyang tried holding back her breath, wondering if the little boy might overhear their rendezvous. She leaned back as her waist was grabbed his broad arms. There a kiss was laid as his tongue further ventured into her cavity, stole her air and her sanity. Huo Yunting let go of his lips as he rested his forehead against hers in relief.

“Could you tell me why you refused my ring?”

“I don’t know the meaning of your ring. If you imagine Xuxu as your own child, you don’t have to do this. We could stay like this without interfering with your life.”

His hot breath cloaked upon her face. Lu Zhaoyang panted, trying to say more words but it was so draining.
