A biting pain surged across her body and she almost fell to the ground. Before she could even lash out, the gunman holding the pistol behind her head, released the safety without any hesitation.

The pain on her knee had her slightly limping and Yang Yi looked on impatiently at her.

Wen He turned back and casted an angry glare. However, what she saw was only a hand-gripped pistol that had been lifted high and slammed down towards her neck.

At that moment, she was filled with unwillingness and helplessness with also a tinge of resignation.

She smiled bitterly and closed her eyes.

Yet, the antic.i.p.ated pain never arrived, and just as it was about to happen….

A gunshot rang out suddenly.

Wen He reflexively squinted and saw a bullet pa.s.sing just right in front of her nose, before scratching the hand with the pistol beside her.

A b.l.o.o.d.y gash was left on the soldier’s hand and stopped him dead in his tracks before the bullet struck against the wall. It left a deep mark in the wall.

Not only did that shot shocked Wen He, even the gunman, who was Yang Yi’s adjutant, too was shocked as the biting pain from the wound stung him.

His hand shuddered and the pistol immediately fell onto the ground. He took a few steps back as his face turned pale.

All of this, happened within an instant.

“Who goes there?”

Yang Yi’s expression changed and turned around to see Huo Chen walking in slowly.

He walked from the tunnel against the light. His figure was tall and imposing. His beret covered his handsome features, leaving everyone guessing his gaze as they could only see the usual coldness of his face.

And in his hand was a small pistol and it was still smoking.

“Huo Chen!”

Yang Yi roared in rage, “You dare do this under my nose, are you itching to get court-martialed as well?”

“This is just a small lesson.”

Huo Chen looked at Yang Yi, before glancing coldly at his adjutant. As he saw him clutching his head with a fearful expression, his gaze sharpened.

“No matter what, Wen He is my wife. As long as she had not been found guilty, neither of you have any right to touch her!”

“Huo Chen…”

Wen He recovered from the shock and her eyes watered as she heard that. Without any thoughts she immediately pounced towards him like a wounded critter into his arms.

“Why are you only here now!”

Her cuffed hands started beating against his chest as if trying to let out all her frustrations of the past few days out at once as her hoa.r.s.e voice rumbled. “You did not even come to see me for so many days. You heartless a.s.shole!”

Huo Chen held her hands and planted his gaze onto her bright face.

It had only been a week but yet she was visibly pallid.

There were traces of fatigue on her pet.i.te, natural face. Her eyes were red and she looked like a poor bunny staring at him.

He did not know how, or why, but Huo Chen softened a little and his cold hard face softened a little. He held her finger tips as an almost imperceptible warm was hidden in his voice.
