He paused to take a breath, and then continued. “I think the truth is not as simple. After all, this has never happened before. I suggest we search the entire secretary department! The doc.u.ment came from here. Even if we found nothing at Secretary Lu’s desk, the other secretaries are all suspects!”

The rest of the secretaries were all surprised to hear this. What did he mean they had something to do with this?

They did not even touch that doc.u.ment!

“Director Liu, what do you mean by that? We didn’t even touch the doc.u.ment. Only Secretary Lu handled it. We can vouch for each other that no one went to Secretary Lu’s desk yesterday!”

Xiao Yu was unhappy to hear that all their desks would be searched.

There were too many personal things at her desk, such as nail polish and lipstick.

The HR people were here, and even Huo Yunting was present. If they saw what she had, she would be fired for sure!

“Yes, we didn’t, we can vouch for each other!” Yu Man’er joined in the protest, with panic showing in her eyes.

Lu Zhaoyang thought the whole drama planned by Huo Yunting was childish. He could have just presented the evidence, but no, he wanted to play mind games.

Who could withstand the pressure coming from his unreadable smile?

She could not.

Huo Yunting leaned against Lu Zhaoyang’s desk now. He tilted his head and threw a quick look at her. “They all have eyewitnesses. What about you?”

Lu Zhaoyang watched the almost imperceptible smile on his face and put her cup down with more force than necessary.

“I don’t. I’m the most suspicious. President, you can decide that I’m responsible, and I will resign immediately. How about that?”

“You heard her, Mr President, she did it!”

Xiao Yu cried nervously. There would be no need to search their desks now, and she would be safe!

No one voiced their agreement with her, however. In fact, they were secretly thinking that Xiao Yu was an idiot to blame Lu Zhaoyang, the president’s sister. What was she thinking?!

Huo Yunting maintained his posture, but his smile grew a little.

This was different from the script they agreed on earlier. She was still trying to find a way to escape from him.

Huo Yunting abandoned whatever foreplay he had in mind. His eyes turned cold without warning, and Lu Zhaoyang suppressed a shudder as she noticed the change in him.

He straightened up and walked out of the secretary department as he said, “I leave this to you, Huo Li.”

“The pleasure is mine!”

Huo Li waved at Huo Yunting’s retreating figure, and then looked at the people left in the office. “I am not as soft as the president. The truth is, I already have evidence. Confess now if you know what’s good for you, and all will be forgiven. Or else… I have both the time and the patience to make things difficult for you!”

Huo Li’s eyes swept quickly past Lu Zhaoyang. She had angered Brother Ting again just now. Sigh, all the best to you, missy!

Xiao Yu quickly pointed at Lu Zhaoyang. “Special a.s.sistant Huo, what are you standing there for? It must be her, she confessed already. Besides, she was the only one who handled the doc.u.ments!”

Huo Li looked at her, and Xiao Yu immediately shut up. It did not matter anyway. She was innocent.

Lu Zhaoyang decided to ignore the drama and sat down at her desk. She continued doing her job, occasionally tapping on the keyboard.
