He asked, “So you’re Qin Haodong, the old man Li’s grandson?”

Qin Haodong did not answer his question. Instead, he looked up and asked, “So you’re the director of the Public Security Bureau of this county, and Bai Wenjie’s brother-in-law?”

Fu Haikun grinned coldly and said, “Looks like you’ve known enough. n.o.body can mess up with me and get away with it in Wufeng County. Now be smart and answer my questions. I can cut your prison term shorter if I feel happy.”

Qin Haodong smiled and kept saying, “You really shouldn’t have provoked me. You should really keep your brother-in-law in control after the incident, and that’s probably the only way that can make you stay in your director position a few years longer. Now that you’ve brought me here, your career has come to an end.”

s.h.i.+ Kuohai was the head of the Public Security Department, and he did have heard about the dark side of the gra.s.sroot units. He was so afraid that Qin Haodong would suffer in the Public Security Bureau of the county that he drove here as fast as he could.

As soon as he arrived the crime squad of the Public Security Bureau, he brought some men to the interrogation room. Then the door was opened and he walked in.

Everyone inside was dumbfounded when he walked in especially Zhang Meng. His eyes almost popped out which was understandable because the scene now was so out of everyone’s imagination.

Qin Haodong was sitting on the chair behind the desk, with his feet on the desk. He was sipping his tea. Before him sat the director of the County Public Security Bureau, Fu Haikun, who was sitting on the big iron chair and talking with snot and tears.

w.a.n.g Rubing immediately rushed over and pulled Qin Haodong’s arm. She asked with concern, “Are you OK, brother?”

“Do I look like I’m not OK?” Qin Haodong said and stood up. He put the tea cup on the desk and turned back to speak to s.h.i.+ Kuohai, “Head s.h.i.+, you’re a little bit late than I expected.”

“I’m sorry Doctor Qin, we thought you were at the police station, so I went there first and that has taken us a while.”

After s.h.i.+ Kuohai said that, he introduced Li Changzhi and others to Qin Haodong one by one.

After the greetings, Qin Haodong said to Li Changzhi, “Secretary Li, you’re here just in time. Director Fu had realized the mistakes after my instruction, now he’s looking for someone to confess to, and turn himself in.”

He turned back to Fu Haikun and said, “Secretary Li is here, now tell him all the dirty things you’ve committed!”

Fu Haikun fell on his knees immediately, which shocked everyone. He tried to hold Li Changzhi’s legs and started confessing, “I’m sorry, Secretary Li. I’ll too guilty to be a real man! I’ve made mistakes and I need to confess. I want to turn myself in…”

Later he confessed all he had done for all these years, including the three mistress he kept, the money his brother-in-law, Bai Wenjie earned for him, the bribe he took from the developer Hong Tianbao, and the protection he provided for these people.

After all, everyone was shocked after they heard that, especially Zhang Meng, who was nearly dumbfounded. He had taken part in many of the crimes Fu Haikun just mentioned. Now that Fu Haikun was falling, so was he.

Li Changzhi’s face was gloomy. It was hard to imagine that Fu Haikun had committed so many crimes as the director of the County Public Security Bureau.

He turned around and said to Yu Shujiang, “Secretary Yu, I’ll a.s.sign the work to the County Committee for Discipline Inspection. You have to investigated strictly according to law. Investigate hard and report the result to me, no matter who’s involved in this case.”

“Aye!” Yu Shujiang answered. He had Fu Haikun and Zhang Meng taken away by his fellows, and sent other policeman to arrested Hong Tianbao, the real estate developer involved in this case.

Hong Tianbao was preparing festive dishes and wines at home, because he was so happy about the relocation agreement with Li Qingshan which he signed with 50,000 yuan. However, the police came and took him away before he could have a sip of the wine.

Under the supervision of Li Changzhi, the staff of the County Committee for Discipline Inspection worked efficiently. The case was acuatlly easy because the two main members, Fu Haikun and Bai Wenjie, confessed all they had done. They answered all the questions so active that the investigators of the case were surprised. They had not seen so frank criminals throughout their career.

The two people clamed all they had done, and told where the evidence and the account books are. They were perfect examples for confession because they even explained their motives and details of the crime when the staff were unable to understand.

It was no use if they denied because the evidence was valid. They four were put in jail immediately and waited for the court trial.

Qin Haodong, s.h.i.+ Kuohai and Li Changzhi were sitting together in the VIP room of Ri Li Xiang Hotel.

Li Changzhi checked on Qin Haodong. Other people might be too humble and nervous when sitting next to the secretary of the Committee for Discipline Inspection and the head of the Public Security Bureau. However, the young man sitting before him looked quite relaxed, and weren’t scared of their high positions at all. They were impressed by the young man’s boldness.

“Doctor Qin, I have something to ask you, may I?”

“Just tell me what it is, Secretary Li.” Qin Haodong said lightly.

“I just received a call from our staff, saying that all Fu Haikun has confessed are truth, and there are valid evidences for it. Their oral confession matched with each other’s. I want to ask how you made them confess?”

That was indeed a mystery to Li Changzhi. He had been working in the Committee for Discipline Inspection for decades and he knew clearly that those corruptors would never confess unless they find themselves hopeless. However, Fu Haikun had completely subverted his experience because he had confession all his crimes and all of them were true.

He didn’t know the exact reason but he was sure that had something to do with the young man sitting before him. Therefore, he tried to ask.

Qin Haodong smiled and said, “Actually it’s simple. I told him about how to be a man. He realized his fault, crying and yelling, saying that he wanted to turn himself in.”

Of course, Li Changzhi would not believe that. There would be no corruption in Huaxia if anti-corruption was that easy, but the fact was so valid that he could barely find any excuse to argue.

s.h.i.+ Kuohai said, “Li, I’ve already told you that Doctor Qin is a master. Masters acted in ways that ordinary people like us can never see through. Now the case is almost over, let’s drop it and talk about your disease.”

He turned back and said to Qin Haodong. “Doctor Qin, there has been someting wrong with Li’s legs for years. All those famous doctors’ hands are tied when they saw this. Now please help take care of it.”
