He only felt as though he had been taken back eight years in time, when the whole matter happened. It was the same fury he was feeling now.

Except that now he saw the pain in Qiao Lian’s eyes.

It was like he had been drenched by a bucket of icy water, giving him a good wake-up call.

In that frightful moment, he realized what he had just done. He hurried down the bed and walked over to Qiao Lian, reaching out to help her up from the floor. “Xiao Qiao, I—”
