He Jiayu pondered for a few seconds. Before he could give an answer, Su Xiaomo glared at him. “The first to speak is an imbecile! Don’t talk to me!”

“…” He Jiayu wanted to say something but couldn’t, which made his fair cheeks turn pink.

“Silence! One word and I’ll beat you to a pulp!” Su Xiaomo raised her fist.

That only made He Jiayu’s need to speak more pressing.

Su Xiaomo snorted. “In a word, we’re not on speaking terms!”

Blue veins popped on He Jiayu’s forehead. “But… but you’re already talking to me.”

“I can speak! You can’t!” Su Xiaomo looked like a fierce little animal. He Jiayu sighed the way a bullied wife would. “Sure. Whatever you say.”

“Hey, He Jiayu, are you going to explain to me about that girl last time?” Su Xiaomo raised her chin and asked He Jiayu matter-of-factly.

He Jiayu raised an eyebrow. “What do you want to know?”

After returning to her ward, An Xiaxia enjoyed Sheng Yize’s service as he fed her everything from breakfast to fruit. She then rolled around in bed with satisfaction, patting her plump stomach.

“Sheng Yize… If you’re not around, will I be able to survive on my own?” An Xiaxia said lazily. Sheng Yize replied casually, “In that case, stick around.”

Never leave him. Stay with him forever.

An Xiaxia gave it some thought and nodded. “You have a point…”

Sheng Yize snickered. “Little fool.”

An Xiaxia kicked him for that comment and puffed up her cheeks. “Why do you like a fool then? You have terrible taste!”

“Are you laughing at me or yourself?” Sheng Yize didn’t know how to react to that question. He caught her fair little foot and stuffed it back under the duvet.

There was a knock at the door and the two looked up in unison. Supported by his a.s.sistant, Mr. Song walked in slowly.

An Xiaxia looked away at the sight of him. She couldn’t think of anything nice about this man!

Sheng Yize frowned. “Mr. Song? How can we help you?”

Mr. Song glanced at An Xiaxia with an indecipherable expression. “There’s something I want to talk to Xiaxia about in private. It won’t take long. Yize, could you give us a minute?”

An Xiaxia grabbed Sheng Yize’s hand involuntarily, unwilling to let him go.

Mr. Song swayed at her reaction, which was quite a pitiful sight.

“Three minutes,” Sheng Yize said coldly, then patted An Xiaxia’s hand in a comforting manner.

An Xiaxia pursed her lips and nodded reluctantly.

The a.s.sistant closed the door behind him and the ward became very quiet.

Mr. Song kept his silence for quite a while before saying gingerly, “Xiaxia, I’m sorry…”

“You didn’t do anything to me that you should apologize for, Mr. Song.” An Xiaxia smiled politely.

“You… sigh …” Mr. Song heaved a heavy sigh, then reached into this pocket and took out a check. “Here, take this…”
