“s.h.i.+t! Li Canxing, are you nuts?” Infuriated, Su Xiaomo cursed loudly. However, she was concerned with An Xiaxia’s safety and crouched down right away. She then extended her hand towards her friend. “Xiaxia, take my hand.”

An Xiaxia tried her best to stand still and reached out for Su Xiaomo.

However, the rocks under her feet were covered in moss and were extremely slippery. Her fingertips brushed Su Xiaomo’s and she fell down again.

After a recent autumn rain, the creek was filled to the brim. It might look shallow from above, but one would realize how deep it was after falling in.

Su Xiaomo couldn’t swim and was terrified.

“Xiaxia! Xiaxia!” she called out, but An Xiaxia kept sinking and was thrown into a panic as she struggled.

Jian Xin’er snickered. “So stupid. She can just crawl out.”

Ding Yiyi was also gloating over An Xiaxia’s little misfortune.

Li Canxing watched this calmly. She had calculated that push she gave Su Xiaomo.

By doing that, she wouldn’t be blamed even if An Xiaxia was injured.

As for how badly injured An Xiaxia would be, well, that woman had it coming.

She smiled and readily watched An Xiaxia struggle in the water.

Su Xiaomo almost burst into tears as she yelled, “Do any of you know how to swim? Give her a hand! She’s been afraid of water her whole life! She’ll drown if we do nothing!”

“Tch, don’t exaggerate! She can just come out herself. The water is not that deep…” said Jian Xin’er with a smile. However, the expression on her face froze in the next instant.

Because of the rus.h.i.+ng water, An Xiaxia was a distance away from them already and the water was slowly going over her head.

Gosh… how deep was this creek?

The look on Li Canxing’s face changed as well and she cried out, “s.h.i.+t! This water is so deep! Go get someone!”

Cold-blooded as she was, she only wanted to teach An Xiaxia a lesson, not kill her!

Sheng Yize was hurrying toward them at this moment and quickened his steps at the noise.

Seeing An Xiaxia getting swept away by the water, everything went dark in front of his eyes as dizziness fell over him.

An Xiaxia had finally managed to stick her little head out of the water, but sank right back under. Before she had time to cough, she was back at the bottom of the water.

Water, water everywhere. It was pouring into her body through her nose and her mouth. She could barely breathe and her limbs were weak. In a half-conscious state, An Xiaxia thought she was probably going to die.

Tears were streaming down Su Xiaomo’s cheeks. “Sheng Yize! I now know what you are! You coward! You would turn away from a dying person!”

Jian Xin’er snapped. “That’s enough, Su Xiaomo! It’s so dangerous and having Captain Yize going in won’t change anything! This is moral abduction ¹ ! Just because he can swim doesn’t mean it’s his duty to do it!”

“Enough! Just call someone!” Li Canxing frowned. Even her hand reaching for her phone was shaking.

If anything happened to An Xiaxia… she would become a murderer…

While everyone was going out of their minds, Sheng Yize suddenly leapt into the rus.h.i.+ng water!

The four on the bank froze in astonishment.

Su Xiaomo was flabbergasted while Jian Xin’er screamed.

“Make the call! Are they going to die…” said Ding Yiyi, puckering up her chubby face.

Then, everyone fell silent.

No one dared speak and it was so quiet that all they could hear were the sound of the rus.h.i.+ng water and their breathing, which was getting quicker and quicker.

When An Xiaxia sank again, she couldn’t help but open her mouth to breathe. However, instead of oxygen, she only drank in a mouthful of water.

Her limbs were getting heavier and her head felt muddled.

All of a sudden, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her up toward the surface.

An Xiaxia grabbed onto the person as if she had found a life-saving straw. She wrapped herself tightly around one arm, dragging the person down with her.

Sheng Yize lost his balance and was pulled down deeper by An Xiaxia.

“Idiot!” He cursed quietly in his head, and dove in. Seeing An Xiaxia struggle painfully, he steadied her by holding onto the back of her head, aimed at her lips, and landed his mouth precisely on hers.

An Xiaxia opened her eyes at this unusual sensation.

Despite the turbid water in her eyes, An Xiaxia still recognized Sheng Yize’s unbelievably handsome face.

She looked at Sheng Yize, utterly baffled. However, instinct guided her to suck in the oxygen from his mouth and gradually, she stopped waving her limbs around.

Sheng Yize went rigid for a moment before holding An Xiaxia’s waist and slowly bringing them up to the surface to take a breath.

Once she hit fresh air again, An Xiaxia almost coughed her lungs out. She wrapped her arms and legs around Sheng Yize like an octopus.

Sheng Yize looked away, the skin behind his ears turning pink at the thought of the softness he felt between his lips just then.

An Xiaxia held onto him by his neck with much effort and asked, “Why aren’t we going back to the bank? Cough …”

Sheng Yize explained in his usual indifferent tone, “The current is too rapid. I can swim back on my own, but with you here, it’s a little difficult.”

An Xiaxia pursed her lips. “Don’t leave me here…”

Sheng Yize rolled his eyes at her: you little fool .

He would have already left her behind if he wanted to, not to mention he had risked his life jumping into the creek to save her!
