Qi Yanxi smiled wryly. “I can’t even check up on my niece and nephew now?”

“Heh.” Sheng Yize chuckled.

They both knew too well that it was just an excuse.

An Xiaxia’s long eyelashes s.h.i.+vered and she woke up. Rubbing her eyes, she said in a sleepy voice, “Hm… Qi Yanxi?”

“It’s me,” replied Qi Yanxi.

Come to think of it, they had neither met nor talked to each other for quite some time.

She hadn’t forgotten about the last time when Mu Li had pushed her down the stairs, but Mu Li was still Qi Yanxi’s wife and An Xiaxia didn’t want things to get too awkward.

Qi Yanxi’s face turned very grim at that question, and it was a while before he asked, “You don’t know… about what happened to her?”

“Huh? What happened?” An Xiaxia was all the more confused.

“You didn’t tell her?” Qi Yanxi turned to Sheng Yize, looking bewildered.

Sheng Yize said indifferently, “I don’t see the point of telling her unimportant things.”

“Tell me what?”

Qi Yanxi heard her question and smiled. “It’s nothing. She’s… fine.”

To Mu Li, death was probably a relief.

An Xiaxia had no idea what was going on and could only smile awkwardly. “I see…”

Qi Yanxi looked up at Sheng Yize. “Blacky Sheng, can I have a moment alone with Xiaxia?”

Sheng Yize raised an eyebrow and a fierce look flickered in his eyes.

He admitted that he had never been magnanimous when it came to his relations.h.i.+p, but he wouldn’t be so petty as to stop his wife from having a conversation with another guy. He snorted and said like a tsundere, “Go ahead.”

“Don’t eavesdrop!” Qi Yanxi glared at him.

“Don’t worry.” Sheng Yize gave him an inane smile. “Little Flower, behave yourself now and I’ll show you some mercy when I kick your a.s.s later.”

“Screw you!” Qi Yanxi growled. “Stop calling me that disgusting name!”

Sheng Yize ignored him and left the room.

An Xiaxia chuckled when she recalled the interaction between the two men before. “What do you want to talk to me about?”

Qi Yanxi stopped grinning and looked preoccupied.

After a prolonged silence, he said, “I think I’ve made some mistakes.”

He felt terribly sorry for what he had done to Mu Li, but there was no making up for it now.

He had no idea that he had fallen in love with the wrong girl.

Come to think of it, when he had been taken with Li Fanxing, how bitter and despairing must Mu Li, his real savior, have felt?

“Fix your mistakes, then. Everything will be fine, as long as you don’t make the same mistakes again,” An Xiaxia consoled him. A pair of big hands suddenly landed on her head, which made her jump. She made a little choking sound, then kept very still.

Qi Yanxi rubbed her head and enjoyed the touch under his fingers.

An Xiaxia said diffidently, “I haven’t washed my hair in two days…”

“Pffft…” Qi Yanxi burst into laughter. “It’s a good thing then that I’m not a clean freak.”
