Gu Juexi’s eyes darkened. He turned back around and picked up his phone as if it was no big deal.

Ye Yuwei pressed her lips together, letting go of the door and walking over.

Gu Juexi narrowed his eyes and twirled his phone aimlessly.

Ye Yuwei sat down beside him. “The old Mr. Gu has pa.s.sed away; the will is in effect now. I don’t think Gu Tianmu will come for you anymore.”

“Before this, I thought Gu Tianmu didn’t like my mum. I thought he didn’t come home because of work,” Gu Juexi explained. “At the very least, he shouldn’t betray my mum.”

Ye Yuwei placed her hand on Gu Juexi’s hand silently, unsure of what to say to comfort him.

Ye Yuwei’s grip on Gu Juexi’s hand tightened.

“You’re saying that just for the sake of money they would—” Kill her son. “But Xicheng is their biological grandson.”

“Oh right, Auntie Mao said you had something to tell me.” Auntie Mao mentioned Gu Juexi didn’t tell her about it because he didn’t go back last night; perhaps it had something to do with Gu Tianmu.

Gu Juexi leaned back against the sofa and ma.s.saged his temples, looking exhausted.
