The king of the mermaids swayed his sleeve and the pearl immediately presented itself to Gu Xijiu. She looked heavenly under the s.h.i.+mmering light from the pearl.

Gu Xijiu took another step back and said gently, "I know the extent of my performance. I did well, but not as good as Lan Fei. The pearl should belong to him."

Gu Xijiu was an expert in singing, so she knew how things were.

Her performance stood out because of her different style of singing. However, Lan Fei was still a little better than her based on their vocals. She did not want to take something she did not deserve.

The audience applauded. This time, the audience looked at Gu Xijiu with respect because they knew that she could sing well and was a very righteous lady.

Lan Yaoguang looked at Gu Xijiu with eyes full of confusion. "Miss Gu…" Just when he was about to say something, Gu Xijiu interrupted him, "Your Majesty, since the matter has been resolved, may I leave now?"

"Certainly! I will never restrict you."

Gu Xijiu smiled lightly. "Great. Your Majesty, I have indeed a favor to ask."

"Miss Gu, please."

"I would like you to send some men to send me out later."

Lan Yaoguang did not know how to respond. He took a quick glance at Di Fuyi and saw his intense eyes on Gu Xijiu. She did not even look at him once during the conversation. 

Lan Yaoguang cleared his throat. "What is the rush? You rarely visit, so I should host a banquet in honor of you. Moreover, the Mermaid Kingdom is different than the land. There is plenty of good food and entertainment. You should spend more time here for me to host you."

Gu Xijiu shook her head. "I would like to thank you for your great hospitality, but I have some other matters to attend to. I shall not stay too long." She did not want to talk anymore, "Your Majesty, I shall meet your men at the palace gate in about half an hour. Excuse me!" She turned and disappeared by teleporting away.

Lan Yaoguang was astounded, and so was the crowd. He turned to look at Di Fuyi. In his eyes, he had every sympathy for him. "Brother Huang…"

Di Fuyi responded, "Do as she said!" He rose and disappeared along with her.

Gu Xijiu teleported to the street that was selling the herbs that she desired. She obtained the herbs and secured them in her storage bag.

The men on the street were mostly doctors or chemists. They were not fond of the hustle and bustle, so they were unaware of her popularity on the other side of the street.

Mermen were generally good looking. Attractive men and women were easily found at every corner of the street, so Gu Xijiu was not concerned about revealing her true face. 

She earned quite an amount of money earlier so she still had some money left after purchasing her desired herbs. Hence, she decided to walk around to see if there was anything more that she liked.

The things from the Mermen Kingdom could rarely be found on the land and they were unusually delicate. So, Gu Xijiu planned to buy some souvenirs for her friends as well.

That was when she realized she did not have enough money. The amount of money that she had could not even afford her a crystal bracelet.

It seemed like only daily supplies were affordable. Gu Xijiu touched her own pocket, only to realize that she had less than a thousand pearls left. She put down the bracelet that was worth two thousand pearls and turned away from it but just as she was about to leave, she b.u.mped into a man.
