Gu Xijiu froze. The image of Shen Nianmo flashed before her mind, causing her brain to falter. She replied sternly, "He is not a Mighty Immortal… Also, the reason I looked for him was strictly professional and for a mission; he is not my significant other."

"I see. Since you've found him, does that mean your mission is complete?"

Gu Xijiu shook her head. "Looking for him is only one part of the mission… I have not completed it yet…"

Yun Yanli was astounded. "It's still not complete yet? What else do you need to do?"

Gu Xijiu ma.s.saged her temples. "Bring him up to shape…" This task was as difficult as the previous one; that brat was quite hard to deal with.

Yun Yanli stammered before regaining himself. "Bring him up to shape? So that means he's still a child?"

Before Gu Xijiu was going to say anything, she seemed to notice something and turned to look behind.

Shen Nianmo was standing at a short distance away from her. He was wearing a vulpine mask that carried an indecipherable expression while revealing the jet-black pupils of his eyes. When did this brat come in? How did he do so without making a single sound? Was he that skilled? 

"Nian… Fuyi, when did you come here?" Gu Xijiu did not want to separate him from his original ident.i.ty as she wanted to keep the warm relations between them to ease up the long training process.

Shen Nianmo's eyes first swept over her, and then to Yun Yanli. He replied lightly, "I just arrived." In reality, he had come in the instance Gu Xijiu freed Yun Yanli from his chains, so he had heard the whole latter half of their conversation. Shen Nianmo leaned on a boulder and did not approach them.

Yun Yanli shot him a glance. "And you are?"

Gu Xijiu's head ached. The two people in front of her are supposed to be enemies, logically speaking.

Yun Yanli's father had acted against Shen Nianmo before, while Shen Nianmo's mother is indirectly responsible for the sudden absence of the former emperor and the downfall of the Yun family. 

It was a huge relief that both of them have not embroiled in a conflict yet. For Yun Yanli' case, it was easy to explain. He was now wounded and only possessed half of his normal external abilities; he was also a gentle and magnanimous person, so he would not s.h.i.+ft the blame of the matter to Shen Nianmo.

But it was harder to say for Shen Nianmo; his temperament was marked by eccentricity. Once he knows Yun Yanli's ident.i.ty, he might just kill him right there and put matters to a close. Therefore, she tried to answered Yun Yanli's question in an obscure fas.h.i.+on. "He is my junior, Fuyi."

Yun Yanli raised his eyebrow. "Is it Prince Fuyi?"

He turned to Gu Xijiu again. "The young palace master had mentioned Prince Fuyi to me recently… Xijiu, I didn't know that you had a junior here. You've found a master, then? Whose disciple are you? It's hard to think of anyone who is worthy of being your master…"

"So you've heard of my name…" Shen Nianmo chuckled. His voice was gentle and graceful. After exchanging greetings with Yun Yanli politely, he walked up front and held Gu Xijiu's hand. "I never thought that she would be my junior as well… She had put a lot effort… for me! Alright, Xijiu, our master is still waiting for our medicine, so let's get going soon."

Gu Xijiu had never thought that he would hold her hand. She tried to break free from his grip but to no avail.

Yun Yanli was dumbfounded. "Juniors to each other? Which one of you is elder?"

"Ask again in a year!" Shen Nianmo finally let go of his grasp. "Xijiu, I can't believe that you've met an old friend here who really needs help. Have you thought of how to rescue him?"
