Gu Xijiu remained quiet. All she could think of right now is that she was truly lucky to have met him. "What do you need in return?" She asked after heaving a sigh of relief.

His quick response made Gu Xijiu feel rather surreal.

Di Fuyi looked at her intensely and said, "I only have one condition. In order to make this look as convincing as possible, you are required to do exactly as I say."

"Okay," Gu Xijiu answered without any hesitation.

Di Fuyi was a great actor, so he would definitely be able to play the role of her husband and convince Fan Qians.h.i.+ to give her up once and for all. The dowries were initially meant for Yin Jiusi were still on the table, but he was already out of the picture. Di Fuyi took a look at those gifts and kept them away hastily. "I will keep these for myself," he said.

Gu Xijiu did not expect that he would be so obsessed with the gifts. "What about my betrothal gifts from you?" She quickly added.

Di Fuyi blinked at her in confusion. "I do not have many things. In fact, I can only offer myself to you. Also, I will be moving into the Tianyin Valley to live with you. So are the gifts really necessary?"

Gu Xijiu did not know how to argue with him. Honestly, she did not really care about the gifts. It was only a show, after all. All he needed to do was to put on a good show.

Then, they talked about the details of their planned relations.h.i.+p and immediately reached an agreement. The wedding would be held a month later, but before that, Gu Xijiu would agree to spend some time with him in the Devil Kingdom.

Di Fuyi told her that nothing would remain a secret forever, so it would be best if they were the only two who knew about their current situation. No one else should be informed. Otherwise, any spilled news would become clues for Fan Qians.h.i.+ to find out the truth.

Gu Xijiu was still worried. "But Yin Jiusi... He already knows about it."

DI Fuyi gently squeezed her hand and said, "Don't worry. Yin Jiusi thinks that you were only going after him for a fake wedding because we argued, and you needed to vent your anger. He will never find out that our wedding is all made-up."

Gu Xijiu finally heaved a long sigh of relief. She realized why Yin Jiusi left so hastily. At first, she thought that Yin Jiusi was so intimidated by Di Fuyi. It turned out that he was actually feeling awkward.

She wanted to take a sip of tea but realized that her hand was still in his hand. She could feel his warmth on her skin and felt rather uncomfortable. It felt as though there was a steady stream of heat slowly entering her veins. 

With a tug, she tried to free her hand, but could not. She wanted to try to pull away harder this time but was distracted by someone coughing at the door. Yin Jiusi was back.

Yin Jiusi was a man of sufficient intelligence and understanding. "May I serve the food now?" He had to ask for their permission first.

"Surely, you may. Please come in and eat with us," Gu Xijiu offered. Also, she felt the need to remind Di Fuyi again, "You should let go of my hand," she said while giving another pull.

"Baby, we need to display our affection publicly. "

Di Fuyi only gave her a tight smile, without any intention of letting her hand go.

Gu Xijiu said nothing more.

The moment Yin Jiusi entered the room, he felt terribly uncomfortable by the sight of the couple being overly attached to one another. Di Fuyi was sitting closely next to Gu Xijiu, whilst holding her hand. It was as if they were glued together. 

Yin Jiusi had to move his eyes away from them just to feel less awkward. He still had some doubts about their complicated relations.h.i.+p before he entered the room, but most of his suspicions disappeared when he saw the couple's current interactions.

The man was once her fiancé, though just for a while. But it was not real. There was no way for him to find the courage to make any contact or even hold her hand. He needed to be mentally prepared before even moving slightly closer to her.
