Chapter 2147: Whittle

As all the ghosts enter the quern, they begin to shake wildly, putting immense pressure on my core. It had taken it at its limit, and its all because of the aid of silver leaf. If not for it, I would not be able to take so many ghosts without destroying my core.

Still, my core is not out of danger yet, it could only remain powered for forty seconds at most, and after that, it will turn off, forcing my core to bear the spatial pressure that all hundred ghosts could release, and my core is incapable of doing that.

My core still has the chance; it just has to refine ghosts enough that their spatial pressure would be within what it could bear, and it only has forty seconds for that.

Regretfully, I could not do anything about it as the refining speed of the quern depends on the strength of the core, and in these two months, my core has gotten quite stronger. There is a chance that quern might whittle the power of the ghosts enough that my core would be able to bear the pressure without breaking apart.

"Human, enjoying my ghosts. This is just a beginning; soon, you will experience the pain like never before," said the Parrotman laughingly.

I acted like I did not listen to it and continued to show the symptoms of what one would have when they attacked by devouring curse wraiths. 

I have no other option than to act; if it knew its ghosts were affecting me or I was destroying them, it would attack me, and I don't know whether I would be able to defend against it or not.

Though it will find out eventually, it would be angry to be deceived by me and would launch an attack that will have a high chance of killing me. I am willing to take the chance, as it would give me a minute or more time, and many things could happen in a minute.

Above me, the Grimm Grandmaster and the General are fighting like there is no tommorow. The sky had brightened up by their attacks, and the sounds of their fight were the only sound that could be heard across the battlefield.

They are fighting intensely, and each of their attacks is intended to take life in the quickest way possible.

The General had shown a fearful strength that within a minute of the battle, he had forced the Grimm Grandmaster on defense, and now it, it showering attack after another on the Grimm Grandmaster, not giving it even a single chance for any offensive.

It is still not enough; even in this way, there is no guarantee that he will be able to help me. While the Grimm Grandmaster is on defense, it had completely occupied General attention, and General would defeat it, even kill it before he could come to help me.

The reality is quite grim for me, but there is nothing I can do other than use everything, every power, every artifact, every resource I have to survive.

Second pa.s.sed by, and the quern inside me continued spinning, whittling away the power of ghosts with each spin while sending down the disks further. The quern is doing great, but it is still slow for me.

I wish it could whittle away the power of the ghosts faster, but it is out of my hands. I could wait and watch and act.

I am spasming while my body is turning yellow, just like the sanguine halo that is covering me. This happens when one is attacked by the devouring curse wraith, and the book seemed to the right about the signs as the Grimm Monster watching me suffer from great relish.

It is like I am a very interesting movie which it is was relis.h.i.+ng to watch. I am not surprised seeing that the Grimms are sick that way.

Soon forty seconds pa.s.sed by, and s.h.i.+ne disappeared from the silver leaf, and it gently glided toward the ground. I did not focus on it; my focus was on the quern, which started to shake heavily like never before.

It is shaking in such a way that I felt like all of its plates would slide off each other. It might very well happen, and after that, the ghosts that are not fully refined would come out and attack my soul is which is wide open for them.

The soul is very protected; it has the natural defenses as well as the artificial ones that I had created.

The only place it does not have the defenses is my core; it is the center through which my body, soul, and energy have connected and formed this core. Through which these ghosts could attack the most core part of my soul and deal the strongest blow.

One second pa.s.sed and then another before another, one by one second pa.s.sed by, and intense shaking of the quern continued, but as I observed carefully, I noticed the shaking was lessening very slowly, and seeing, I could finally take a sigh of relief.

While I am still in very much danger, I should be fine as long as I did not create any pressure on my core, like bringing inside the Grimm Monster, which would definitely crack my core apart in a moment.

Another half a minute pa.s.sed by, and shaking had slowed down visibly, making me feel even better. Though that moment lasted only for a second as the next second, I found myself being a target of extremly power, killing intent, and rage.

"Human, you are quite a great actor, able to fool even me, a Grandmaster!" Said the Parrotman through gritted teeth and blazing eyes.

"You will be pay price for it," It shouted, and its aura exploded; it was so powerful that it had brough a noticeable change in the s.p.a.ce around it.

At the same time, the crystal on its staff stone with power so great that even with such defensive measures and burning my essence, I would turn asunder by it.
