Dream Star 292 Like A Canvas

It surprised Yori that Soichiro was actually letting her eat lunch on time. But of course she had to eat in the office too. Yori exhaled deeply, is this man serious? He won't even let her eat in the cafeteria. Does he seriously think she's some sort of spy and plan to sway his employees to hurt Lila? Is he stupid? Doesn't he know of the deep connection and bond between her's and Lila's family?

He definitely knows about it. This man knew everything about Lila after all, he most likely has a file on everything even the most trifle details. So why on earth is he acting so cautious and wary whenever she mentions getting to know her co workers?

She can't figure this man out. This must be the first time she's met somebody like this. Yori liked to believe that she was good at reading people's personality. Whether it was instinct or had anything to do with her powers. Yori had always been a good judge of another person's character.

From the moment she met Teras.h.i.+ma Lila, Yori understood there was nothing bad about the girl. She was pure, innocent, and delicate - at the same time she was strong, brave and held a different sort of charisma that attracted anybody to her .

On the other hand this man? She can't figure him out at all. Just when Yori finally figured something out about him, it doesn't take long before something new popped up. If she were to summarize his description, then she would compare him to a canvas. He's like a canvas, before any paint is put on it. It's empty and alone. Yori knew if Lila didn't come here, this man would once again live an isolated and lonely life. Since she came to work here, Yori noticed how the employees and this man's own people avoided him like the plague.

"Are you not going to eat?" Soichiro's sharp voice interfered with her deep thoughts. Yori, looked down at her meal and noticed it was left untouched.

"I was thinking about something."

"Hn."

"Tell me something, why did you ask Lila to come to you? Did you really doubt her capability of doing this mission herself?"

Soichiro shook his head, "It's not that I doubt her, in fact it's the opposite. I believe her, but do you honestly think in her condition that she can handle things alone?"

"Then why did you send her on those missions?"

"Isn't it obvious why?"

Yori frowned, "It isn't, but do you actually have an explanation for it?"

"I do, those missions I sent her. I set them all up, so she was never in actual danger."

Eh? Ehhh? Yori looked at him in utter disbelief. She examined his expression to see if he was lying but it wasn't like that at all. So all those missions they received reports on were false.

"Under Austin Kiryu's instructions."

If she wasn't shocked before then Yori was very shocked now. Kiryu asked for Soichiro to do this?

"He didn't know about the isolation part of course," Yori rolled her eyes at that comment. Of course not, there's no way Kiryu would agree to something like that, "But if it's everything else, all the decisions go through Kiryu first."

Yori thought she had seen the extent of PDA, public display of affection before but this was something else altogether.

"Kiryu's been watching over her this whole time," Yori muttered.

"Of course he has. I hate to admit it, but that guy is very good to her. n.o.body else would treat Lila as well as he does."

"Then why did you show that to Karas.h.i.+ma?" she was reffering to the doc.u.ments regarding Lila's condition.

"Because in the end, it's still her choice isn't it? I want her to decide who the person she loves is."

Yori said nothing to that and looked at him up and down. Is this still the same person who has been slave driving her since she joined?

"By the way I have to ask and confirm, since I wasn't sure about it before. But wasn't Lila in love with Ichinose Oujiro?"

"Your the only person in know who would ask that so bluntly."

Soichiro sweat dropped, "Your really cold today Yori."

In love with Oujiro huh? Indeed Sumire really was. Yoti noticed it, how her gaze always seemed to be wandering. It wasn't because of Kiryu then, whenever she gets that s.p.a.ced out look on her face she's thinking about Oujiro, "She was."

"I see, guess that explains things. I noticed their interactions were strange."

"Clarification really isn't in your dictionary is it?" Yori trailed off, "But I do understand what you mean."

Even though it was completely obvious before. Somehow along the way it seemed like Lila wanted to forget it; and that's why she had doubts about the girls relations.h.i.+p with Kiryu at first. It really did seem like she was happy with him and yet there was something wrong there.

"If you want to imply something shouldn't you just say it up front?"

Soichiro responded with a chuckle which lead to her sighing.

Truly Lila has gathered yet another troublesome group around you. Another guy, that's not surprising anymore.

"She really does attract such strange guys," Yori commented.

"Indeed. And you Yori, do you have no intention of getting attached to anyone?"

Yori raised her eyebrows at this comment, isn't he being too straight forward with his questions today? Normally he brushes it aside with a joke whenever things get too serious. Is it because he knew that she will answer everything now? Either way it can't be helped huh, "If you get too involved with someone, you're apt to lose any sense of good judgement. I learned that lesson myself all too well. Personal experience is a ruthless teacher," Yori said, she sighed at the last part.

That's right, growing attachments with someone may bring you happiness. But at the same time you gain something, you loose something in the process. Whenever it came to that person your sense of rationality goes down the drain. "Simply put, there was a time when I grew attached to someone, and I made a bad decision. I was forced to learn a very powerful lesson."

The promise from that time. She will never forget it.

"Hmm I see. I figured that there was a deeper meaning to you being such a mysterious beauty.. But now it makes complete sense. Why you isolated yourself once you joined the delinquent world. Simply put something happened in the past that made you have a bad experience. That's why you insist on following those two around everywhere correct?"

Yori nodded, she still couldn't disclose everything. But this was the first time she ever spoke about this with anybody.

Soichiro sighed, "I see. I see… Hmm it's a shame that you didn't tell me about it before."

At that comment Yori, somehow his reaction is strange. Though she noticed that he's been acting different since earlier.
.. Could it be, that he's actually bothered by the fact that she didn't tell him before? He did pull such a frustrated expression regarding the matter. It bothered him huh.

"Me isolating myself like that was strictly for the purpose of investigation although it's true I had no intention of making friends then. Kiryu is just too persistent and Lila is a unique person."

"That's certainly true," Soichiro trailed off.

It's strange that she even has to explain herself.

"Anyhow, don't make too much of a big deal about all this. In the first place I'm not the type of person who would would talk about this stuff with anybody. I haven't even told Lila about any of this, so it has nothing to do with you," Yori trailed off. It has nothing do with trust. She won't show it to anyone ever again, when she saw his still dark gaze she continues, "Oly someone I could call family would be worthy," only somebody she trusts with her whole heart. Only somebody she has given her whole heart room.

But for a person like her,

"Maybe I should sign up for that," Soichiro joked.

The one with the fiance and the one who loves Lila is saying that. Yori sighed, there must be something wfng with her today.

When Yori returned to the room from photocopying doc.u.ments in her hands, she noticed that Soichiro wasn't alone. Opposite him stood a man with long jet black hair, and piercing grey eyes. Soichiro sat behind his desk, while the man stood. Yori frowned, she immediately sensed something was amiss. The aura around the man wasn't normal, she sensed it - darkness. Maybe it would be bad if she interrupted.

"Ah yes, since she is here. It would be better if the young Nase heiress here's about it too."

Yori flinched, how did he know she was there? It was a habit of hers to conceal her presence when it came to her meeting new people.

"Yori, since your here anyway just enter."

Here is another thing that Yori has noticed about the man named Soichiro. He doesn't hesitate to use her first name. While she understand that he mainly lived abroad his whole life. Isn't he acting too familiar?
