Zane sighed deeply, "I do not understand why you tried to play hero. At least if it was Haruka, I wouldn't beat him up."

Kiryu knew that - and yet, he reacted by instinct when he saw that Zane harmed Lila. Feeling a lump in his throat, Kiryu coughed it out only to see blood. '...so it's that bad?' He's lecturing Lila about being careless but what about him. It's a good thing though that Haruka didn't react before him. If Haruka came out here with Zane, Lila would have followed.

"Heh, isn't it obvious why?"

"How foolish. That girl, will never return to you. Haruka's mission succeeded."

Is this guy stupid or something? Lila and Haruka are genuinely in love with one another. "No," Kiryu managed to say. His entire body felt weak and ached all over, however -- "You've lost."

It was just two words, words Zane could have ignored. Yet, it was just his luck. These words provoked him. Zane who ignored him ever since he was slammed against the wall, walked over. His footsteps felt very heavy, and Kiryu felt the air change. When he looked up, he saw above Zane, the skies turned grey. Is it because of this man?

Kiryu knew how dangerous Zane was, from the very start he knew. Long before Zane appeared before Lila, long before he started dating her or Haruka appeared. Kiryu knew who the man was. However, unfortunately for him he didn't have the means to do anything about it. For the last few years his family focused on searching for Lila's mother.

While Lila's safety was important, Kiryu didn't want them to divide their resources. Finding Sumire-san was important. If Sumire-san came back, Lila would be safe. That's why Kiryu didn't mention anything to anyone. He secretly monitored Zane's movements.

Zane stood right in front of him, and soon his hands were at his neck. "Indeed, it seems like you no longer have any intention to live. I left you alone because you meant nothing to Lila anymore. However, it seems like you want to die."

It didn't happen like Zane expected it, Kyoko-san and Huan-san appeared right that moment. But unfortunately after a few minutes of fighting. It became painfully clear that these two couldn't do anything about him either.

"It's futile, none of you can beat me."

"They can't beat you? Then, what about me?" a familiar voice said.

Kiryu's eyes widened when he saw a woman with curly brown hair and amethyst coloured eyes. Ah...

"Mother!" Huan and Kyoko exclaimed.

Sumire smiled softly but then her gaze turned menacing. "I believe we had a deal no? At least a compromise for the mean time. Are you breaking it already?"

Zane seemed troubled, and sighed. He dropped the blade in his hands, and raised his hands like he was surrendering. "Indeed, if it's you, I would lose. But, you of all people should know better than to intervene with fights. Miss Queen of darkness."

"I wouldn't have to involve myself, if you didn't play sneaky tricks. Leave Kiryu-kun and my daughter alone until the deal is off."

Deal? What deal did they make? He didn't hear anything from his parents. Even though he was now considered Hyou4's leader. His mother often held back information from him.

Zane didn't say another word, and quickly walked of in the other direction. The moment Zane vanished, the skies returned to normal. Sumire-san walked over and pinched both Huan and Kyoko's cheeks.

"What did I tell you two?!!" The woman was still smiling, but her words were deadly.

"Ouch Mother...that hurts."

"I knew it, look you've dragged me down with you," Kyoko exclaimed.

"But, honestly... I thought Haruka would be here. I miscalculated."

Ah, so that's why they came here. If Haruka came out here instead with Zane, there would be no fight. But Kyoko-san and Huan-san could attack him freely.

Sumire sighed, "You're lucky he didn't come here. Lilchan would be in danger. You two know how Zane keeps following Lila everyday..."

At that comment Kiryu weakly got up, "Zane keeps following Lila? Since when?"

A troubled look appeared on Sumire's face. She clearly didn't intend to say that.

"Please tell me, I have to protect her."

"Kiryu-kun, look at yourself. You still want to protect Lilchan?"

"I have to."

"Alright, tell her that yourself."

Huh? At that comment Kiryu turned and spotted Lila not too far away. Uh...wait...didn't Haruka say he would take her on a date? She's even dressed up. Lila suddenly rushed over and clung to him tightly, tears in her eyes. Oh dear, this is why he didn't want her to know.

"Lila, quit crying...."

"Wahhh, wahhh..."

Geez -- Kiryu debated about it for a few minutes before he bent down and kissed her. It was a brief kiss, but enough to make the girl stop crying. She looked at him speechless and completely red.

"Wh-what are you thinking!" Lila exclaimed.

"I believe I just kissed you."

Her lips taste so sweet... He would do it again, but it's awkward with her family watching.

"I rushed out of my date, because I was worried about you and yet here you are thinking of stupid things."

She rushed out? Haruka will get mad at her later. Still, "I don't think it's stupid. I've told you before that I'll kiss you whenever I get the chance."

"Sh--shameless! When did you become so shameless.."

"What are you talking about Lila? I've always been like this."

Lila hits him, "Stupid, jerk! I was really worried about you. When you left with Zane, I wanted to follow you. But I couldn't, I can't do that to Haruka. Rus.h.i.+ng to your side like that would hurt him more than anything."

Yeah, he knows that better than anyone. He brushes his hands across her eyelids, "You've always looked prettier when you cry."

"Jerk, listen to me already... Stop doing these reckless things."

"You never lectured me before Lila."

"Because back then we were together. I was right by your side!" Lila exclaimed. The girl's words surprised him, and his eyes widened. "I was with you then so it was okay even if you were reckless. We could handle any problem that came our way together. But, things aren't like that anymore Kiryu. Your alone right now. I can't ...help you like before."

It pained Kiryu whenever he saw Lila cry before, whenever she sheds tears. No matter what it is, it would hurt him too. "I'm sorry Lila, I'm really sorry."

"You don't have to apologize dummy, it's my fault too."

But it never was her fault, it was always him. His fault for acting like such an idiot.
