"Get used to it, from now on things will be that way. I don't want to beat around the bush with you anymore. I want to be completely honest and open with you. I no longer want to hide anything," Haruka paused and grabbed his bag. He pulled out a silver-colored envelope and slid it across the table.

Lila looked at the envelope with wide eyes. She knew what it was even before she opened it. 'He knew?' Lila thought she hid it well, but it seems like Haruka already knew about it. The job Soichiro gave her a few months ago, but she had yet to complete it.

"You don't have to worry, Lila. I already knew what you were up to from the very start. I mean, even when you disguised yourself as Kiku Ari. I was already doing some background digging."

"That's too straight forward now; you were researching me?"

"And you weren't?" Haruka questioned. "Look, I'm not trying to fight with you here. I just want you to know. I will always be there for you."

"I know hubby, and I'm trying to understand. But did you have to go this far?" Lila referred to the pictures she saw. While she acted like it didn't bother her, and initially, it didn't. But at night, Lila couldn't stop thinking about it. "Whenever you come home late, I end up worrying. With our schedules, it's difficult to return home early, I know. But staying out till past midnight? Staying out the entire night? Hubby, do you want me to think you're cheating on me?"

That isn't Haruka's intention, and Lila understands. Everything he does is for her. Kiryu is the same. He did many foolish things for her sake too.

Still, "I know your not cheating, and I know I'm just acting paranoid. But Haruka, so many people have said it to me already, not to trust you and not to fall in too deeply. Rumors are misleading, and many people dislike you just because you have everything they don't have. But I…," her sentence fell short when Haruka stood up.

She swallowed her words when she saw the serious look in his eyes. Even though it only took him a few seconds to walk over, Lila felt like it was an eternity.

Soon Haruka was right beside her; he placed his hand on her legs. Earlier, that stupid CEO did the same and yet with Haruka. "Stop, I feel nervous," she mumbled.

Haruka laughed, "I'm not trying to make you nervous; I came here to comfort you."

"You're not going to scold me?"

"There isn't any need. I mean, I think you forgot something wife. All your fears and insecurities, the things you're worried about. I've gone through the same pain too."

"Thank you."

"So uh, you know," Haruka ran his hands through her hair. "I want to kiss you now. But I think I'll be destroying the moment or something. I thought it would make you feel better like earlier."

He's an awkward person. But, he is the one person who won't abandon her. Lila leaned forward and kissed him again like she did earlier. However, unlike before, it was a lot more pa.s.sionate. "Hubby, you always end up fondling me," she mumbled against his lips.

His hands are so quick, when did it get under her s.h.i.+rt?

"Uh, old habits die hard," Haruka pulled his hands away and quickly fixed her clothes up.

"Did I tell you to stop?"

"Well, uhh," his cheeks turned red. "You know, I find you very beautiful. I'm hesitating a bit to touch you today since your prettier than usual."

Is he stupid? Then again, he is more honest than usual today. She likes this honest side of him the most. It reminds her of his behavior when they first met again. On the surface and in the eyes of the public, he acted strong and tough. However, whenever he fought with her and wanted to make up. He would buy her gifts and awkwardly apologize.

Haruka isn't the best person when it comes to expressing his feelings. Like that time where he tried to confess to her.

'So even though, I said all that stuff. I think the best person for you is me, after all. I'd like it if you became my girlfriend..'

He only said it that one time.

At the start, he expressed his feelings for her by using such possessive terms. He was very cruel and acted like a jerk—however, the more time she spent with him. The more Lila realized the meaning behind his actions.

"I like kissing Haruka, so you don't have to worry about hurting me or anything."

"Well yeah, but you know I'm very rough and aggressive so…"

Lila laughed, "You won't hurt me; please rest a.s.sured."

Haruka gently brushed his fingers across her lips. "Do you still feel bad?"

"A little, but I think that's because lately I'm under a lot of stress and people pressure me. You know I don't like going to those public events and gatherings. I don't like talking in large crowds; this may sound contradictory since I'm an idol. But, I feel very uncomfortable whenever I talk to people who I don't know very well. I know it's stupid, but I feel like I'm disturbing and bothering them - especially when they are working. I feel like I don't deserve to speak to them…"

"Alright, I get it," Haruka nodded. "Why don't we do this? I'll go back to being your manager properly and accompanying you to your jobs."

Lila blinked, surprised at his words. "Is that okay? I mean, you're busy with your own work."

"It's fine if I can do something to rea.s.sure you I'd do it," Haruka took out his phone, and she watched him going on his calendar app.

Indeed, it was full. But Lila watched as he casually started canceling some things. Lila looked at him with a worried expression, "Hubby, shouldn't you inform those people first before you cancel anything?"

"Hm? It's alright, some of these I haven't accepted formally. I can bail on them whenever I want."

Still, isn't he doing too much for her sake? Then again, he is her husband. She ought to learn to rely on him more.

"You know, Lila, there is one other thing you need to know," Haruka suddenly said.

"Yes?"

"I think you need to start accepting other people's protection."

At that comment, Lila froze, and she sighed. "I find it unfair that you can see right through me today."

"This doesn't apply for today only. I know it's difficult for you to accept other people's help. After your mother left when you were a child, you started doing everything alone. However, you can start with me, Lila."

"Your acting so confident now, but you're not any better than me," Lila reached over and pinched his cheeks.

Haruka simply leaned his hands into her palms. "I'm not any better. But I know you're there for me, I believe and trust you."

Is he trying to say she ought to do the same? It's not like she doesn't trust him, because she does trust him.
