"Dude, why are you asking? She clearly is, otherwise, she wouldn't have tried to please us.."

Despite the weakness of her body and her blurred vision, she could make out her boyfriend counting the money in his hands. He...does he really love her? Making her do this every day...

After throwing up the contents down the sink, Selia quickly got dressed. A deep sigh escaping her lips. If she wasn't in the middle of a battlefield, she would have slept longer. It's not as though she's unaccustomed to fights. But it had been quite some time since she last fought one. She was surprised when Kiryu-kun brought her. Kiryu-kun... Her cheeks reddened as she recalled something and shook her head. That was an accident and he never mentioned it since. Don't be so foolish early in the morning. Kiryu-kun though isn't like those other guys.

Kiryu-kun is different from him.

Does he really love her?

That question was so very foolish, she was too naive. Wasn't it obvious? He only treated her and saw her as a toy from the very beginning, there was never any feelings of love.

Selia quickly found him, on top of the hill. He seemed to be in deep thought until she called out to him.

"Kiryu-san, you don't let your girlfriend sleep with other girls?"

"Of course not..." He trailed off, "Why are you asking?"

"Nothing.."

Could it be that's the sort of relations.h.i.+p she was in before? It's no wonder she's mentally traumatised. But still, someone who does that... He recalled Rosalia, contrary to her claims of her being in love with him. She never minded him sleeping with other girls. Such an oddball that woman.

"It's more like, for Lila there's never been another guy before. So ..."

"I see. Not even once? I heard a lot of people like her.."

"You heard?"

Selia flushed red, "Oh, I wasn't trying to be sneaky. I just wanted to learn..."

"Well, I understand... Well, that's right. There's a lot of guys that like her. But even then those guys understand her feelings, so they won't push themselves and insist. There's some strange bunch who's simply happy being by her side and seeing her happy.."

Yes, he's referring to the guys in SEVEN STARS. If they wanted to, they could easily threaten him when it comes to Lila, and yet they don't.

"Selichan, could you help us out here?"

"Right away."

Selia looked at him like she wanted to say something but he watched as she quickly left without a word. Lately, he's been thinking...that maybe Selia likes him. He would like that not to be the case but considering how she acts all nervous and jittery around him, it's hard not to a.s.sume that. Kiryu exhaled deeply, and what's with that, no contacting people until we're done with the job? It's not like phones are banned when going on missions. Should he really have given her his phone?

But well, it's fine. This job is almost done anyway. They'd already been here for a few days, fighting away the enemy forces. Kiryu was surprised how easy he was able to chip away at the enemy's strength. Perhaps his mother, Honjo-san and Sujimsan's words aren't without merit.

Perhaps he can truly lead people. His gaze landed on the sky, he hasn't spoken or heard her voice in so long. His pretty Lila, he missed her a lot. The last he heard was what happened to her. He wanted nothing more to fly to her side but then he was informed right after to come here.

Lila ought to be fine now that Senbi is there, and yet he can't help but get a bad feeling that something is wrong here. Why did they attack her so openly? It doesn't make sense...

Right after this mission, they will meet each other again.

He didn't get permission or anything, but he will if he completes this job successfully.

On his birthday. Two more days. He kissed the pendant he wore around his neck.

His thoughts broke off hearing the sound of a large explosion and glanced over to see that the base was covered in a field of smoke.

The place was a battlefield in seconds, and Kiryu found several people surrounding him in seconds. He didn't waste a single moment before conjuring up his flames.

"Iyu-iyu...Waahhhh wahhh."

Hearing a familiar cry, his face colour turned pale. Dammed! He thought it was safe, so he agreed for her to come here. How naive and dangerous. Kiryu quickly followed the source and saw a group of men wearing red cloaks, carrying a small bundle in their arms. Catching a glimpse of the familiar dress, he clenched his fist. Kiryu didn't spare any words and immediately charged to grab the girl. It was surprisingly easy and yet, he understood that the danger hadn't pa.s.sed yet.

Fighting and protecting Hos.h.i.+ko was anything but easy.

Kiryu found his strength depleting quite quickly. It shouldn't have been this easy to eat away his strength, so he must have eaten something. He was way too careless when he came here, he ought to have checked things through properly. He was clearly set up. Now that he thought about it, other than him, Selia and Ritsuko. There's n.o.body else that was familiar in the team and he hadn't heard a word from Hisame-san... As Kiryu slumped against the wall with the little girl in his hands, he exhaled deeply.

Idiot. Idiot. If Lila was here she would definitely call him an idiot, the signs were clearly there from the beginning. He's separated from the other two, but he doesn't have to worry about Ritsuko. As for Selia, while he's worried. He saw Ritsuko in that direction too, she ought to be fine. More importantly, "Hos.h.i.+ko-chan, don't cry so loudly...the bad guys will find us.."

"Iyu--hurt! Blood..."

Throwing bombs one after another, well even if he is fast. At the speed they threw those things, it's natural he would end up getting hurt.

"Ssh. It's alright," he said softly, trying to rea.s.sure her.

There's no way he's letting these guys get the upper hand.

He has a date with adorable Lila in two days time.
