Chapter 1406: Captured!

“Xiao Leng, if you’re wise, you would get out of the way. Otherwise, we would kill you; and doing so would be as easy as killing an ant. Xiao Hong himself had a taste of my power back then! I am coming for Jiang Yi today, understand?”

A ghostly voice which sounded a lot like wailing echoed. Xiao Leng’s heart stopped. This thing was a Poison Spirit for sure. It even fought with Xiao Hong before? It seemed that this spirit had some strange magical powers as well, which caused Xiao Leng to instinctively want to run away. Even Jiang Yi felt like he would perish without a doubt.

Soul spirit attack?

Xiao Leng’s eyes cleared up once again. He was a principled man. He promised Xiao Hong that he would protect Jiang Yi. That meant that even if he had to die, he would die before he allowed Jiang Yi to die as well. Otherwise, he would have run away when they met that group of G.o.d bandits earlier.

He struck the ground in front of him with his battle sword, causing a bright blade light to cut through the ground. The crack traveled quickly towards the G.o.d King who was charging towards them. If he could kill this G.o.d King, he would be able to focus all his powers on the Poison Spirit. This would hold him back and give Jiang Yi time to escape.

Tsk! Tsk!

There was no doubt about Xiao Leng’s battle abilities. The G.o.d King could not even defend himself. The blade light struck him and cut his body into two, burning him so that his blood turned to smoke as well. Xiao Leng shouted at Jiang Yi, “Jiang Yi, run away! I will hold him off!”

Jiang Yi could control yellow sand worms. As long as he burrowed tens of kilometers underground, he would find countless worms. That meant that he would be able to find a chance of survival there as well. Xiao Leng knew that he was no match for the Poison Spirit, but he still charged towards him without any hesitation. He was trying to stop the Poison Spirit from getting Jiang Yi.

“Old Xiao!”

Jiang Yi saw the determined look in Xiao Leng’s eyes and felt strangely touched. At that moment, he no longer doubted Xiao Leng. He already treated this ugly, perverted, old man as his own family from a long time ago. Jiang Yi saw the man as his own elder.

“Run—”

He did not charge towards death like Xiao Leng did foolishly. Instead, he activated his Power of Heaven and Earth and channeled it into the ground. Xiao Leng wanted to exchange his own life for a chance for Jiang Yi to escape. Jiang Yi could not waste it. Otherwise, he would be letting Xiao Leng down.

“Naive!”

The Poison Spirit above laughed mirthlessly. His body flashed white as he turned into countless Poison Spirits at once. What’s more, each Poison Spirit looked exactly the same as the next. Each one had an iron drill in its hand, and each one was digging pa.s.sages for itself in the ground. All of them were charging towards Xiao Leng, ready to kill him.

“Nice job!”

Xiao Leng used his divine senses to sweep the area and felt utterly hopeless. In the fact of the Poison Spirit’s attack, he accepted defeat. This cloning technique was flawless. Each Poison Spirit felt like the original. He had no idea which one to go after. All he could do was stand there and create as many blade lights as he could with his sword.

Hundreds of Poison Spirits’ irons struck at the same time. Then, hundreds of beams of dark light shot out. All of them were directed at Xiao Leng’s chest. He suddenly felt like he was being crushed by several huge mountains. His body dropped like a meteorite, cras.h.i.+ng into Jiang Yi, who was still charging downwards. Jiang Yi fell over from the impact as well.

They are not at all the same!

Jiang Yi’s heart stopped. Xiao Leng’s battle powers were obviously a far cry from the Poison Spirit’s. He did not even bother to run away. Instead, he pulled out his Chaos Essence Pearl. The pearl lit up and absorbed the unconscious, barely-alive Xiao Leng inside. At the same time, he absorbed the Heaven-Swallowing Beast into the pearl as well. At last, he turned to face the Poison Spirit, which was flying towards him, calmly.

Tsk! Tsk!

A figure flew quickly towards him. A pure, white hand grabbed Jiang Yi’s neck, causing energy to flow into his body and seal his dantian. The hundreds of figures behind the Poison Spirit disappeared. It looked at Jiang Yi with a warm smile and said, “City Lord Jiang, not bad. He who understands the times is a wise man.”

The little beast had been absorbed into the Chaos Essence Pearl by Jiang Yi. The yellow sand worms were no longer under his control, and none of them moved again. The wall of worms above them collapsed. The Poison Spirit easily brought Jiang Yi out of and above the debris.

The four people above did not die. However, two of them were injured. If Jiang Yi had kept the little beast in the pearl a little later, perhaps the two of them would be dead. One of them saw the Poison Spirit bring Jiang Yi out of the mess and immediately felt enraged. In a flash, he lifted a single leg, ready to strike it down on Jiang Yi. It was obvious that he wanted to take revenge by torturing him.

The Poison Spirit moved out of the way immediately and led Jiang Yi to avoid the blow. The man struck the ground instead and caused a deep pit to appear. He then turned and charged towards Jiang Yi, shouting, “Poison Spirit, what are you doing? Who do you think you are? If not for the clan and Young Mistress, you would amount to even less than a dog!”

Buzz!

The Poison Spirit’s body glowed white as he turned into a very ordinary, weak-looking, middle-aged man. In a cool voice, he said, “Third Young Master, have you forgotten what Young Mistress said? If you kill this brat, where would you get the Primitive Spiritual Treasure? We have paid such a huge price this time. If we don’t get the Primitive Spiritual Treasure and Young Mistress flies into a rage, you can bear the consequences yourself.”

“Hur-Hur!”

The man called Third Young Master laughed mirthlessly. He sat down on the ground cross-legged, retrieved two servings of recuperation medicine and then replied coolly, “Then, why don’t you start? Oh, right… ask this brat about his mystical ability to control yellow sand worms. We have to report it to the family clan. It will be to all of our credit!”

Young Mistress? Primitive Spiritual Treasure?

Jiang Yi remained silent all this time, observing them speak. At that moment, he suddenly spoke up in a mocking tone, “You’re talking about Young Mistress Xuanyuan, right? Is it Xuanyuan Shanshan or Xuanyuan Lingyan?”

Not many people knew that he had a Primitive Spiritual Treasure with him. In Earth Emanations Domain, only Xuanyuan Shanshan knew this. Since they were referring to this person as ‘Young Mistress’, and her clan could activate even a Poison Spirit and four Demon-Killing Battle G.o.ds, this person must be either one of the two.

“Keke!”

The Poison Spirit smiled slightly and lifted up his thumb. “Brat, you are very intelligent indeed. You could spot the flaws so quickly earlier. I’m very curious: how did you know that I’m not Qin Rong?”

Jiang Yi could not care less about anything else. He shrugged his shoulders and said, “When the first wave of G.o.d bandits attacked us earlier, you were close by…”

“Oh!”

The Poison Spirit looked like a huge realization had just dawned on him. Jiang Yi asked, “When you saw me for the first time, why didn’t you take action? Wouldn’t it have been much easier for you to catch me then?”

“We did not want to expose ourselves, actually.”

A look of frustration appeared on the Poison Spirit’s face. “The most highly-skilled killer would remain forever hidden. Any risky act would be life-threatening to him. I thought that a couple of groups of G.o.d bandits would be sufficient to kill you. I never expected that you would be able to control yellow sand worms. I must say, brat, you really are a heavenly prodigy. I’m guessing you only learned how to control yellow sand worms when you entered the Spiraling Clouds Mountainous Region, right?”

Jiang Yi did not answer the Poison Spirit this time. Most questions in his head had been answered, and he was too lazy to talk more nonsense with the Poison Spirit. In a cold voice, he said, “Alright, do what you have to do. I’ve already sold the Primitive Spiritual Treasure to Jiutian Ze. Even if I tried to teach you how to control yellow sand worms, you would not be able to learn. I am of a special race. If you are not of the same race as me, you would not be able to control the yellow sand worms. Poison Spirit, I respect your character—make it quick.”

Jiang Yi knew that he had no hope of getting out alive now that he had landed in the hands of someone like that. When he was keeping silent earlier, he was calling out to the mysterious elder for a long time inside the Fire Dragon Sword in his Fire Spirit Pearl. However, there was no response. Not a single person in this world would be able to save him. He did not even ask Xiao Leng or Zhang Hai to try and help him. A killer like that would not be soft-hearted. There was no point in wasting his saliva. As for… the Heaven-Swallowing Beast, Jiang Yi could not think too much. The little beast’s future was up to its own destiny.

“Hur-Hur!”

The Third Young Master, who was midway through recuperating, suddenly opened his eyes. His eyes were filled with rage and his tone was cold as he shouted, “Poison Spirit, if you cannot bear to do it, let me do it. I promise that I will make his life worse than death. He will say whatever we need him to!”
