Lin s.h.i.+yu quirked up the corner of her lips in response. “Mo’er, you openly asked for another partner earlier on, I’m afraid someone in the Capital is not going to be able to sit still after hearing about it. He is definitely going to appear and confront you about it.”

“s.h.i.+yu, I’m waiting for him to turn up. As long as he arrives in Karghalik, I’ll be able to execute the last step of my plans. If he doesn’t appear, he’s really not worth my time and I’ll truly give up on him.”

Lin s.h.i.+yu packed up while replying, “Don’t worry about it, Mr Gu will definitely appear. Mo’er, I have to leave first, I need to make a trip to the hospital.”

Outside the VIP ward, Fu Qinglun stood tall outside. He wore an immaculate black suit and from the looks of it, he had just come back from work.

He had divided his time between the company and the hospital ever since the news broke out. Though he didn’t have much of an expression on his face, he was still exuding a dignified aura. He had lost some weight over time and upon close inspection, his eyes were slightly bloodshot.

The door to the ward opened, someone had walked out. It was… Rong’rong.

Rong’rong was Madam Fu’s biological daughter. She was a timeless beauty, emanating an innocent, feminine aura.

Fu Qinglun quickly turned around and snuck a look inside the ward after he heard the door opening.

He was denied access to the ward ever since Madam Fu was admitted. She had suffered a huge blow after learning that the son she had spent 27 years raising was actually adopted.

Madam Fu had led a smooth sailing life with virtually no obstacles. She was a treasured daughter of a wealthy family and was showered with love by her parents before she married into the Fu family. Even after marriage, her husband had doted on her and she had never faced any obstacles in life. The thought of spending the past 27 years in lies and being deceived had defeated her.

Madam Fu didn’t want to see Fu Qinglun, all because she didn’t know how to face him.

Even if Fu Qinglun appeared before her ward every single day without fail, she still wasn’t willing to open the door and allow him in. Fu Qinglun would just stand outside, waiting for her.

Rong’rong looked at Fu Qinglun, her eyes dazzling. She spoke softly, “Brother Qinglun, Mom is almost recovered, the doctor says that she is able to be discharged tomorrow.”

Fu Qinglun’s gaze s.h.i.+fted onto Rong’rong after the door was closed. He answered carelessly, “Okay.”

He then turned around and prepared to leave.

“Brother Qinglun,” Rong’rong quickly stretched out her arm and held onto Fu Qinglun’s hand, “Don’t be dispirited, I’ve already spoken to Mom, she has agreed to ask you back for dinner tomorrow night after her discharge.”

Right after she finished saying that, footsteps could be heard. Fu Qinglun lifted his eyes and a lithe figure appeared in front of his eyes.

It was Lin s.h.i.+yu.

She wore a white chiffon blouse and the straps in front were loosely tied up into a bow. Together with her sequined long skirt and her wavy hair that was tied into a ponytail, she was emanating a cold yet feminine aura.

She wasn’t flashy but her beauty could be easily spotted, one couldn’t take their eyes off her beauty.

Lin s.h.i.+yu slowed down, her gaze landing on Fu Qinglun, and the hand that Rong’rong was holding onto.

Fu Qinglun fixed his gaze on Lin s.h.i.+yu, as though he hadn’t seen her in a very long time.

He remained calm and collected, retracting his hand from Rong’rong and walked in front. He stopped in front of Lin s.h.i.+yu and asked, “Why are you here?”

His voice was slightly hoa.r.s.e.

Lin s.h.i.+yu replied with composure, “I’m here to visit Madam Fu.”

“Mom is feeling better, she’s due for discharge tomorrow. It’s already late now, you should head back.”

Fu Qinglun added on, “I’ll take you home.”

Lin s.h.i.+yu looked in his eyes, he had hidden away all of his distress and no one could tell what he was going through. His shoulders and chest were still firm and strong but she could sense something… were his eyes bloodshot because… he was tired?

After the scandal of his parentage was revealed, an upheaval was caused in Karghalik. Everyone was talking about how lucky he was, for an orphan to become the young master of the Fu family for so many years.

Everyone was waiting to watch the drama, to see if he is able to protect the Fu Corporation, to see if he would be forsaken by the Fu family. But everyone had forgotten, that he was actually innocent too.

He didn’t choose to land himself in such a situation. He had no choice in shouldering the responsibilities of the Fu family. If he were to be given a choice, he probably would have been better off just being an orphan.

Lin s.h.i.+yu looked at him with tenderness in her eyes. She spoke up, “I…”

“Brother Qinglun,” Rong’rong suddenly started speaking, “Brother Qinglun, you can’t leave yet. Mom’s health report is still with the doctor, you need to head over and get it from doctor later.”

He couldn’t leave yet.

Fu Qinglun still had a poker face on, he didn’t turn back to look at Rong’rong, his gaze fixated on the woman in front of him.

Lin s.h.i.+yu glanced at Rong’rong, only to notice that Rong’rong had all of her eyes on Fu Qinglun, her gaze seemingly affectionate.

Lin s.h.i.+yu spoke up. “Young Master Fu, you should stay behind. I’ll be fine taking a cab home.”

She then left.

But she only took a step before a large hand swooped over and grasped her wrist.

Lin s.h.i.+yu stopped walking, she heard a deep voice resound in her ears. He sounded gentle, and at the same time, it was like he was pleading with her. “s.h.i.+’s.h.i.+, I really want to take you home, could you wait for me for a little while?”

Could she wait for him for a little while?

He would handle it quickly and be back in just a little while.

He wanted to take her home.
