Tears welled up inside of Tang Mo’er’s eyes, she bit down on her lower lip and tried to suppress her tears. They had to stay strong and brave through these difficult times.

Tang Mo’er lifted her hand, knocking on the door after calming herself down. “An’an, it’s me.”

A tender voice responded, “Little sister-in-law, come in.”

Tang Mo’er entered the ward. “An’an, I’ve brought you some chicken soup that I’ve made, have some while it’s still warm.”

An’an returned to her bed and said, “Little sister-in-law, just leave it there. I’ll have some when I’m hungry.”

An’an had been obedient for the past few months, she heeded the doctor’s advice and had her medicines and injections on time, though she would always vomit everything out after eating.

“Little sister-in-law,” An’an held onto Tang Mo’er’s hand, “Can you let me listen to the sounds that the baby makes?”

“Of course.”

An’an crouched over, leaning closer to Tang Mo’er’s baby b.u.mp and she placed her ear on it. The baby moved a little.

“Oh my, little sister-in-law, the baby is greeting me.” An’an’s eyes were sparkling and she smiled brightly. She was genuinely happy.

Tang Mo’er patted An’an’s head gently, she nodded her head in agreement. “Mm, the baby loves you and can’t wait to hurry up and meet you soon!”

An’an’s eyes crinkled into a sweet smile. “I’ll make sure to wait for the baby’s arrival!”

An’an then hugged Tang Mo’er and shut her eyes. Her little sister-in-law’s body smelled so good and it was so soft and warm. She smelled like a mother, and An’an loved it.

Tang Mo’er’s eyes turned red and watery again, and she couldn’t help but hugged An’an back. “An’an, do you wish to meet… Master Yan?”

An’an’s eyelashes fluttered, she froze for a few seconds before burying her face on Tang Mo’er’s baby b.u.mp. Tears trickled down her cheeks.

They hadn’t seen each other in a very long time.

Or perhaps, they wouldn’t be able to meet each other again.

She was withering away in the hospital, she knew that her time was almost up. It was becoming harder for her to fall asleep at night, she didn’t dare. As she forced her eyes wide open, she waited for the daylight to arrive. Loneliness and the feeling of missing someone had overcome her, but she couldn’t do anything about it, she felt so helpless.

Tang Mo’er stepped out of the hospital ward, she slumped against the bench and covered her mouth. It was really disheartening witnessing An’an in such a state.

She then heard a string of heavy footsteps, someone had arrived.

Tang Mo’er lifted her eyes to look, it was Gu Mohan. He sported his usual look, white s.h.i.+rt with black trousers. A few doctors were following behind him.

Tang Mo’er sniffled, she quickly wiped away the tears on her face.

Gu Mohan had given some orders and the doctors turned around to leave.

Along the corridor, he just looked at her without saying a word. She was already seven months pregnant and her baby b.u.mp was huge, though her limbs were still skinny. Her skin was still smooth and supple, he noticed the tears on her face. She just looked at him with her l.u.s.trous eyes, his heart pulsed.

As he stretched his legs, he walked over and reached out to wipe away the tears on her face with his calloused fingertips. “Why did you cry?”

She was pregnant with his child and still remaining by his side even in An’an’s most difficult times. Gu Mohan’s voice was husky and somewhat tender, he couldn’t hide his affection for her.

Tang Mo’er turned her face, refusing his touch.

His hand was suspended in mid-air. Ever since they’d returned from Miaojiang, their relations.h.i.+p was only going downhill.

“I’m going to go take a look at An’an.” He turned around to enter the hospital ward.

But a soft, yet alluring voice came from behind. “Can… can you allow An’an to meet Lu Yan?”

Gu Mohan stopped walking, he turned around and looked at Tang Mo’er.

Tang Mo’er looked at him with tear-filled eyes. “An’an really misses Lu Yan.”

Gu Mohan pursed his lips. “With An’an’s current condition, she isn’t fit to leave the hospital. Moreover, Lu Yan is still in jail…”

“Yes, I know that An’an is currently not fit enough to leave the hospital. However, has An’an’s condition improved? No.”

Tang Mo’er sobbed and continued. “An’an has only managed to come this far because she has noticed our efforts. She has been really obedient, but do you even notice that she has also been incredibly lonely? She doesn’t want all of this. The doctors have already asked us to prepare for the worst. She was pleading with him.

Tears dewed her lashes and they trembled, she appeared so pitiful as her shoulders shook.

Gu Mohan felt his heart throbbing in pain. He took two steps, pulling her into his embrace as he planted a kiss on her hair. “Mo’er, don’t cry. You’re making my heart hurt when you cry… I’ll promise you, I’ll listen to whatever plans you have in mind…”

An’an put down the mirror in her hand. “Little sister-in-law, I’ve put on some blush, do I look pretty?”

Her face was bereft of color and she didn’t want Lu Yan to see her in such a state. She had to put on some blush to get some color on her face.

She was going to meet Lu Yan.

Tang Mo’er held onto An’an’s cold hands. “An’an, you’re beautiful.”

An’an’s eyes were gleaming, she smiled sweetly and lifted her eyes to look at the man in the driver’s seat. “Brother, thank you.”

Gu Mohan was driving and he was holding on to the steering wheel. His sleeves were rolled up and the luxury watch around his wrist was revealed. He looked at the two women in the backseat using his rear-view mirror and didn’t say a word.

In the jail.

An’an waited patiently. She suddenly heard some steady footsteps. Lu Yan had arrived.

An’an’s heart palpitated, she quickly looked at the man through the gla.s.s panel.

Lu Yan was wearing a black singlet with long pants. Four months had pa.s.sed and he seemed to have gotten bulkier. The muscles all over his body were sculpted and defined, his arms, shoulders, waist were perfectly strong. He was extremely masculine.

He didn’t change much, only is beard grew and he pinned her with a sharp gaze.

Their eyes met and tears immediately welled up inside An’an’s eyes. She hadn’t seen him in a very long time, she really missed him.

Lu Yan leaned forward and she could observe his chiseled features even more closely. Though he hadn’t shaved his beard, he was still suave.

She reached for the phone and started smiling at him, though her eyes were already filled with tears. “Lu Yan, how are you?”
