"Lyn," Kazuya whispered. Lyn felt his breath tickling her ear, and she s.h.i.+vered. Her cheeks were turning redder and redder by the minute. Kazuya was so close to her that she could smell him. His Cologne, 'he smells good,' Lyn thought. A pleasant smell, she wants to smell more. Unconsciously she got closer and closer to him.

It left her in a haze; he kept whispering her name in her ear, and Lyn knew she was in a complete trance now. Kazuya must have noticed since he lightly drew away, but carefully enter winded a strand of her hair with his fingers.

"Thank you, Lyn, I love you," he murmured. Kazuya broke the distance between them and kissed her lips. There was a sweet feeling before Kazuya pulled away. A huge grin on his face.

Lyn remained frozen; cheeks flushed red.

...

Following morning

After that, he just took her back to Allen's place and left. A deep sigh pa.s.sed her lips, 'is it hopeless between her and Kazuya after all?' Lyn thought. Back when they were in the Mist Kingdom, things were good between them. They did not have this kind of problem at all.

Her thoughts broke off upon spotting, where she was. The lakesh.o.r.e? Lyn spotted maroon hair not too far from her location. Kazuya... What's he looking at? She noticed a father and son pair trying to get their paper boats to float, Kazuya suddenly blew gently in the boat's direction.

"Aah look Dad the wind is blowing."

"That's great we should get going now."

Her gaze softened upon realizing, so that's it. No wonder he has such a solemn-looking expression on his face. She stepped on a branch causing Kazuya to turn around; he stood up immediately upon seeing her, "I couldn't read your aura. The wounds dulled my senses," Kazuya explained.

Lyn deeply sighed, he's such an idiot at times. But, she understands why he is behaving this way. Yesterday she didn't talk to him about Prince Zenith.

"Wait."

"What is it?"

Lyn took out the leaves from her bag, "Mentor said to give this to you. It seems it's good for your body."

Kazuya brushes his fingers against hers, and yet unlike yesterday, it felt so much colder. When she had heard what to happened to him, she wanted to drop meeting and rush to his side. But the others prevented her from doing so and said that Kazuya wouldn't want that. "Shouldn't you get going soon?"

Lyn heard that Kazuya was supposed to go on a short business trip.

"Yeah, but I still have time."

So cold, it really isn't like him, and yet Lyn recalled how they parted, how she ran into his arms. Even though Kazuya smiled at her softly and said, it was okay. Even though he said those words, she noted how pained he looked. "Then, if you have time, why don't you spend some time with me?"

Ah stupid. She doesn't want to say those words.

Kazuya said nothing and walked off in the direction of the boats. Lyn followed after him. Now that she thought about it, once as a child, during the flower-viewing season, her father asked her to ride with him. The two of them awkwardly exchanged words with each other. It was one of the fondest memories for her. But what did they talk about? She can't recall. Her thoughts broke when she saw Kazuya start the boat. Lyn quickly plops herself down. Stealthy and he didn't notice until he started the boat.

"Lyn, don't come along. I want to be alone right now. Or is it something else?" Kazuya sighed, "Did f.u.kami or Rhys ask you to come here?"

Whenever Kazuya is like this, he really acts like a child. "Kazuya, you don't want me to become Queen, right? And I said that to you too," Kazuya nodded. Lyn took a deep breath, "After I said that I sort of regretted it. My family situation is bad; I seldom have any fond memories with my family. Well, when compared with your circ.u.mstances, it's not a big issue. However, I've always felt like n.o.body wanted me."

A time where she felt like the darkness would truly swallow her whole. Lyn continues, "I didn't know what I was living for." No matter what activities she engaged in that place, everything became meaningless before long, "Even now that's still the case. That may be why I came back to this place to find a purpose to my life. How about you Kazuya, you said it was because of me that things have changed? But do you still want to go through with what you told me before?"

When they first met, Kazuya told her right away, 'There is somebody I must kill,' thinking back to it, that was the first time Lyn saw him like that.

Kazuya shook his head, "I won't change my mind; I will kill that man."

Silence loomed on them for a few minutes, and Lyn's gaze darted down, as she thought about his words.

'Revenge..'

When he came back and discussed everything with her, Lyn felt as though she ought to have been more surprised. Yet not only was she not surprised Lyn agreed to his proposal, about remaining distance when there in the grounds of the alliance..

Kazuya even stopped coming over. Perhaps a part of her had already known that. Because once in a while, he would get such a cold and distant look in his eyes. That's why a part of her was already prepared for it, to one day encounter the Kazuya with such a dark gaze. It's something she understands all too well, revenge and hatred.

" life is brief.

Lyn thought that he wouldn't pay any attention to it but to her surprise that wasn't the case.

"Is that a western from abroad? It's a pretty song."

"Ah, it's called The Gondola song," she paused, "Actually, it's a song from the east."

"Oh? Did you learn it from your father?"

Lyn nodded, "He used to sing it a lot. Being with you now reminded me of," Lyn paused when she realized what she just said. Her cheeks red, " Y--your wrong! It doesn't have a deeper meaning !"

"Deep meaning?" Kazuya looked at her surprised and Lyn immediately understood. He doesn't know what she is talking about. A relieved sigh pa.s.sed her lips, " Keeping singing, please."

Oh.. This must be, the first time she's seen such a calm looking expression on his face since then. He really is quite foolish. Lyn took a deep breath before she started to sing again.

is never to come again."

If..if her singing really can bring hope to people.

If she really can use her voice to make people feel at ease, it would be nice. Along the way, she really has found herself liking to sing.

"...fades.."

When Lyn finished, she saw that Kazuya wore a bright smile on his face.

"Your singing made the song a lot better."

Lyn's eyes widened as he said this softly with a smile on his face. Ah, he's feeling better. Thank goodness. Lyn felt Kazuya inch closer, her heart beating and a blush creeping on her face as she attempted to avert her gaze. Yet that didn't stop him from moving closer, closer, and then his arms were wrapped around her. Aah, it's Kazuya's scent. His warmth.

"Mmm. This really feels better."

"Wh--" Lyn said startled. Just earlier he was acting like a frozen robot. How come he is normal now?

"You agree, don't you?" Kazuya murmurs in her hair.

Lyn could feel it, her heart pounding loudly for this person. It isn't painful, nor is it suffocating. It's a feeling that can genuinely send her at ease. On a day like this, she wants to be with him. "Kazuya um..."

"Yes?"
