Is she that heartless of a person? It's all so confusing. But, these two will believe in her no matter what happens. Lyn extended her hand out, and Kazuya grabbed hold of it. He smiled softly, "What's wrong, Lyn?"

"Nothing," she glanced down. He reacted so fast, how come? Did he notice that she was distracted?

Lyn shook her head; right now, she ought to focus on recovering.

___

A few hours later

Kazuya glanced over and spotted that Lyn was panting heavily. They shouldn't stay here for too long; it'll be just a matter of time before he destroys all those traps. The fact that he had been able to hijack the security here was already a miracle enough. Despite it being a run-down area, the buildings quite high cla.s.s, and Kazuya figured that the second they arrived in the area, the enemy already detected them. It would certainly be good having the other two in times like this. Even if it's them two, doing a rescue job of this scale is impossible.

The reason why they are in this situation now is because of what they overheard a few minutes back.

...

Earlier

Kazuya nodded.

"Actually just a few minutes ago there was report signaling that a certain building was put on automatic lockdown. It's an area where people don't go to, so we weren't sure if anyone was there. But eye witness reports stated that there are indeed workers in that building and that they saw magic."

"In other words, the workers are being held, hostage?"

"That's right. I said a few minutes ago because that's when we received the report. But..." he averted his gaze hesitantly, "HK received the report first so..."

...

Present

So, that's what lead to this situation. But even then, Kazuya was baffled at how quickly Lyn reacted to this.

"If you are not feeling well, you can rest your head on my shoulder for a while."

Lyn laughed softly, "Aah, that's kind of you... Then I suppose I'll take that offer."

Feeling Lyn's head on his shoulder, he relaxed his position. Light, even now, after so many years, she is still filled with light.

Lyn gave off the impression of a feather. A feather swaying in the wind. The wind, huh...? Perhaps back then, it had already been decided without anybody realizing it.

"Say, can I ask you something?"

"What is it?"

"This might be rather presumptuous of me to say at this stage. But why me?" Kazuya mumbled. Why him of all people>

Aside from Rhys, it seems like she's always had plenty of other suitors. It felt like that to him.

"Honestly, when I first met you, I was afraid. I mean, our first meeting was a bit strange. Why did this random guy kiss me?

It was because I didn't know his nature that I was slightly afraid. And as a bonus he had a bad att.i.tude, was a flirt and had a bad mouth. But, it didn't take me much time before I fell in love with him."

"Is that so?"

Lyn nodded and laughed lightly, "Truly, it was something I noticed a long time ago and yet when Pupillam told me he found clues to that person's whereabouts. I knew that I had to push those thoughts to the back of my mind. For me to truly be able to love someone, I wanted to sort everything out with those who came before first. And when I did, my thoughts did trace back to you, Kazuya. When I thought about it again after spending time apart from you, I ended up with all sorts of thoughts. But in the end, I got this sort of feeling.

'I don't know why he is so familiar to me, or why it feels like I am getting to know him more as though I remember who he is. How every smile, every whisper, brings me closer to the impossible conclusion that even before we met, I have known him before. That I loved him before, a long time ago, in a different time and place.'" Lyn's gaze softens, "Even now I still think that way, that I met him you a long time ago and that these feelings don't just appear out of the blue."

Kazuya felt very embarra.s.sed to hear about the girl's feelings for him. He thought if it was during this situation, then he wouldn't get embarra.s.sed. But it seems like Lyn has a way with words.

Lyn laughed, "Um, did that make you nervous?"

"You're messing with me. I give up."

"But I'm serious about this, Kazuya."

He knows that too, Kazuya understands how serious Lyn is about him. To the point, he's become afraid.

".. . That man is wearing a cloak. But... do you know who it is?" Kazuya brought up. It felt like during the battle; they exchanged more lengthy exchanges of conversation. Something you wouldn't do to someone you didn't know.

"Yes, from an organization called Shadow. He is the center."

Although he expected a response, he wasn't expecting this kind.

"That's.."

Lyn sighed, "I didn't think he would be working with these kinds of people. But it can't be helped; the world is not a kind place."Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

That's certainly true.

His thoughts broke off, hearing a deep explosion sound. Kazuya jolted and turned in the direction.

"There you are. Princess Lyn, why are you running away? Could it be your afraid of me."

"Please like I'd flatter someone who won't show their face. Although I do quite like mysterious men."

"I see, I see. That's why your with that man."

The girl stood up, "Lyn, you really shouldn't.."

Lyn shook her head, "No." she took a step forward and brushed their foreheads lightly against each others. "I'm really grateful. Even if he didn't ask you, Kazuya, you would have protected me."

At that, this comment Kazuya's eyes widened.

"Thank you. But it's the Queen's job to protect everyone. When I get back, there are some things we need to talk about."

With those words said, she turned away from him and charged straight for the cloaked man. She knew she knows everything. That shouldn't surprise him, and yet, even though she has that knowledge, she still treated him like normal. To him, even now, she is …

___

Her eyes widened in alarm when she heard Kazuya screech in pain.

"Kazuya?" Lyn called out. She told him to hide, so she could barely see him.

Yet all she could hear was a wincing voice. He is in pain. Lyn shoots her head angrily in Morris direction, "You! What did you do?"

"Haaaaaaaaa! It looks like it's my win, after all, Princess. What did I do? Of course, I poisoned him."

Her gaze dimmed at those words. This guy she was going to let him off since he's just a p.a.w.n. But, he went ahead and did something like this.

"Ahh, ahh. I've had enough I was intending on holding back since you're a newbie. But your actions don't resemble a newbie. Trying to poison Kazuya and holding people hostages. Your offenses have certainly piled up," Lyn spoke these words sarcastically as her gaze dimmed.

"What on earth are you babbling on about?"

"Ne sir, I think you've forgotten something. Do you not know what makes the True Queen candidates strong? It's because even without powers, they have enough strength to plunge the world into destruction." Lyn dispelled her powers.

To deal with trash like this, there is no need to use magic.

"Stay back! I'm warning you."

Is Morris afraid? Can he sense it? But, even if he can. It's already far too late.

"Take this is my warning to you. I hate talkative men and although mysterious guys attract me. You've fallen too low even to be distinguished as nothing but trash in my eyes. But km maybe we can get a long.. Did you know? I'm not human either; I've long cast it aside."

If she has to become a monster to protect those dear to her, then so be it. Kazuya, his fears, and hers are the same. But, unlike him, she has decided already. She will use this power to its full extent, even if she becomes a monster.

The guy startled wrapped the area in a grey fog, yet Lyn lifted her hand and sliced the fog in half. Her gaze was deadly. This time around, she would not hold herself back. Why would she? This man dares hurt Kazuya. Anybody who hurts Kazuya will pay the price.
