Important-Seeming NPCs

Administrator Kallan

The administrator of Hilderlocke, a slightly obese middle-aged man. Nie Yan buys a large plot of land, suitable for a large auction house, in Hilderlocke from him near the Southern part of the city-the part which would become bustling in the future. After Nie Yan praised his city a bit, he began to tell tales, including stories that hinted of useful quests or locations. When Nie Yan follows his advice to "Master Blacksmith" Krusch's place, he finds a scam there and exposes it, bringing Krusch to Kallan for judgement. Blacksmith Kade

A blacksmith in Calore who offers a hidden quest that allows for higher-priced sale of Bat Teeth. Nie Yan bought Bat Teeth from players for a copper per stack (20 per stack) and sold to Kade at 2 coppers a stack. He collects bat teeth because of an intensifying situation at Hilton Stronghold. He is confirmed to be an Advanced Blacksmith when Nie Yan thinks of him to craft the Dullahan Cavalry Crossbow and Splitting Edge. Bordello

A Level 160 Elite as well as a Thief, he was a famous NPC in the past timeline who carried the Sub-Legendary G.o.do's Dagger of Fleeing. After killing over a hundred Calore city guards, he received the t.i.tle of Killing Demon Bordello, which makes Nie Yan wonder if they needed a killcount above 100 to get the Killer's Demonic Medallion. Chief Administrator Telus

The elderly Administrator of Calore, he carries a dignified, imposing aura and wears a military uniform to work. He is in charge of selling unowned plots of land to players. Nie Yan buys 12 plots of valuable land from him extremely early in the game, before prices grow sky-high. Ch110 (First Mention), Ch111 (Real Estate Purchase)

Commander Nisode

A leader in the Holy Crusaders. He shoots a Tyrant Impaling Arrow that does 87829 damage to the Guardian of Order at the Chapter of Courage. Ch34-Ch35 (GoO Conflict)

Einpat the Tree Caretaker

An NPC in Treant forest that no one had managed to get a quest out of, or even the name of, before Nie Yan's Specialist run. A powerful flute was stolen from him, which proves instrumental to defeating the Treant King on Specialist difficulty. Ch50, Ch57 (Treant Forest Run)

Guardian(s) of Order

Giant-Dragon crossbreeds that were rejected from society for being freaks of nature. They were eventually baptized by G.o.d and entrusted with protecting the various chapters of the Book of Order. They are very powerful. Ch33 (Chapter of Courage)

Impostor of Krusch the Master Blacksmith

A man pretending to be the mysterious Master Blacksmith, displaying a selection of "magical" equipment in the northern district of Hilderlocke every Monday and Wednesday. Administrator Kallan mentions him to Nie Yan. When Nie Yan goes over to take a look, however, he finds that the "Krusch" there is a scammer running a lottery with no winning ticket. After dragging him back to Kallan, they find out that he is an impostor, Ch126 (First Mention), Ch127-Ch129 (Scam Reveal)

Insei Rais the Cripple

A 57-year-old cripple who charges 50 silver / month and has an unknown skill when hiring. His 37 trust stat makes him completely trustworthy to employers. From the previous timeline when he worked for the Golden Age Potion Shop, Nie Yan knew that his hidden skill is Diplomacy, which buffs smooth interactions with NPCs and leaves good impressions on them. Nie Yan hires him to run the Starry Night Potion Shop, which he does admirably. Ch114-Ch115 (First Encounter), Ch123 (Check-in at SNPS)

Jebiah the Great

He is a scepter-wielding Holy Mage and the protector of the Viridian Empire. His statue features prominently in Calore City as the Commander-in-Chief of the Holy Crusaders. Ch3 (1st Mention), Ch33 (Holy Crusaders)

Kavrote

A commander in Hilton Stronghold. Nie Yan was instructed to bring the 2 dark elves' heads to him and warn him of the Drow Tribe counterattack. Later, Nie Yan completed that quest and received hefty rewards from Kavrote Ch52 (Quest Received), Ch57 (Quest Turned In)

Physician Blevins

A mysterious old man who asks deep questions before giving a quest to trade Fine Silk (3 coppers) for Silk Cloth (2 coppers) on an island in Lake Rando. This trade results in players losing money in exchange for an Intermediate Combat Medic skill after 30 Fine Silk trades. After collecting enough fine silk from Nie Yan, he gave extremely good quest rewards and then returned to Hilton Stronghold. Sir Dulla

Once a legendary knight of the Viridian Empire in the war to banish the dark elves. He braved many battles and slew countless foes before he eventually grew weary of the senseless slaughter and he spared the lives of two young female dark elves during a later campaign. Later on, it was discovered that the blood of dragons coursed through his veins, so he was executed by the Temple of Light. After taking his head, the bishop had then ordered to have it hung over the city gates. However, his headless body and dead steed resurrected and disappeared from the temple grounds. This began the legend of the Headless Horseman, with many reported sightings of his silhouette roaming the land. He shows up at his shrine with a system prompt if Nie Yan beleived in his innocence before stabbing Nie Yan and sending him back to the Viridian Empire. Ch167 (First Encounter)

Ten Holy Paladins

During the Dark Era, they founded the Holy Monastery as Glennin Province's biggest stronghold of resistance against the dragons. However, they disappeared without trace after the Dark Era ended, and Holy Monastery fell from glory without them. Their history after disappearing is said to be astonis.h.i.+ng, and Nie Yan discovers a quest line about it. Kavana's corpse is seen when Nie Yan retreives the Chapter of Justice from Light Monastery, where he learns about Dragon Girl Venita as well as gets a Medal of the Ten Holy Paladins. Tinkerer Mulberry

An intermediate Tinkerer in Tasoyi Village who runs Tinkerer Mulberry Sandford's Shop. His items are unmatched amongst Intermediate Tinkerer NPCs, but his creations are exorbitantly expensive. Of Nie Yan's power-levelling gear, he sells Smoke Powder, Intermediate Flash Powder, and Basic Magic Bombs. Ch134 (First Purchase via Tang Yao), Ch143 (First Encounter)

In-Game Groupings

3 parties:

Righteous Faction - Legend has it that the collector of all volumes of the Book of Order will become Supreme Pontiff and control all the Holy Shrines.

Viridian Empire - Nation ruled by humans and governed by an Elder Parliament.

Calore City (Capital) - A floating city that lay suspended over the Calore Prairies.

Kemento City - Previously the biggest hub of the gem trade due to nearby maps.

Temple Guards - The guardian legion of the Temple of Light, this army of 50k protects the Temple of Light and upholds the Viridian empire's religion.

Holy Crusaders - An army of over 500k troops led by Jebiah the Great. Their task Is to protect the entire Viridian Empire.

Satreen Empire - Alliance between dwarves, beastmen, and elves

Evil Faction - Legend has it that the collector of all volumes of the Book of Chaos will become Ruler of Darkness and be arch-nemesis of the Supreme Pontiff.

Ruled by a tyrant who reigned over both the devils and undead

Neutral Faction

Third party that remains out of the conflicts between light and dark. Ruled by the irenic giant tribe.

Angel Corp

The previous timeline's top-ranked guild in the Righteous Faction. They were based in the Satreen Empire, so they had a different set of leaderboards from the Viridian Empire guilds. Angyi Tians.h.i.+, their president, was the previous holder of the Chapter of Justice. Ch29 (First Mention), Ch135 (2nd Mention)

a.s.skickers United

Nie Yan's guild, which he established to defend himself from Victorious Return as well as set up a foundation for his father's future businesses in Conviction. They meet strong resistance at first from Victorious Return but Nie Yan and Tang Yao's momentum fail to stop them.. Ch140 (Beginnings)

Azure Falling Sky

One of the nation's top 10 gaming organizations. Their star player is a Paladin called Clear Sky. In the previous timeline, they had one of the Seven Archbishops. Ch107 (Cameo), Ch186 (Archbishop Mention)

Battle Crazed Alliance [BCA]

One of the top gaming organizations in Conviction, and one of the initial five formidable powers in the previous timeline's Viridian Empire. They are led by Kill Love and had major presences in other games. During their peak in the previous timeline, they had 6 players who were top 30 in their respective cla.s.ses, and controlled 5/6 of the strongholds in Hilderlocke and 2 more in Moonlight City. When Cao Xu's guilds began trying to take over the continent, they managed to successfully resist a.s.saults from the combined forces of Victorious Return and Bloodl.u.s.t Blades despite being outnumbered more than 6:1. In the end, the guild weakened due to Cao Xu's influence when 20 key figures left and almost half of their players ditched the guild. However, under Kill Love's command, the guild held on to their last stronghold so strongly that Victorious Return and Bloodl.u.s.t Blades had no choice but to give up. Ch126 (First Mention)

Dark Hero

Bird Leaves No Eggs' former guild. They kicked him out because his Alchemy skills were too poor. They are a tight-knit group who had established a presence in previous games. They also had one of the Seven Archbishops before losing him to Sapphire Shrine. Ch67 (First Encounter), Ch114 (Mention wrt Bird), Ch186 (Archbishop Mention)

Dark Ma.s.sacre

The guild led by Swift Slash. They sent several thousand players to compete for the loot dropped by a Guardian of Order that appeared when Nie Yan got the Chapter of Courage. Ch33-Ch37 (GoO Conflict)

Holy Empire

The guild led by Sleepy Fox. In the previous timeline, they were one of the initial five formidable powers in the Viridian Empire. Other members include Stone. They sent several thousand players to compete for the loot dropped by a Guardian of Order that appeared when Nie Yan got the Chapter of Courage. They invited Nie Yan to run Agmota Muddy Wetlands with them. Later, Nie Yan sold Black Phenol to them during Sosil Valley day 1 in exchange for some semi-common skill books. They become one of SNPS's supplier guilds in a partners.h.i.+p brokered by Nie Yan. They also rescued Nie Yan from the Blackflame Forest Ambush in exchange for a special order of Cure Charm potions required to clear the Succubus Den. They then gathered at BFF in response to Victorious Return's ama.s.sed army. Mercenary Guild

One of the biggest ent.i.ties in the southern district of Calore. Later, when the downtown region of Calore moves eastward, it becomes the only thing that still attracts players in the area. Ch11 (First Mention)

Radiant Sacred Flame [RSF]

In the previous timeline, they were one of the initial five formidable powers in the Viridian Empire. The guild that cornered Tang Yao in Levin Hills, where Nie Yan got the Chapter of Courage. When Conviction first introduced the guild system in the past life, they were ranked in the top 60s. Even with the pa.s.sage of time, they never decayed below rank 100. In this life, they issued a kill order for 5 silvers on Nie Yan after he killed Dian Cang. Nie Yan worsened their relations.h.i.+p by killing many members during the Levin Hills event. They were one of the 5 major guilds under Cao Xu. When Nie Yan and Tang Yao first begin to hunt Scaled Frogs, they hold the 5th position on the Level leaderboard. Sapphire Shrine

A powerful mage-focused faction led by Fa Lan. In the past timeline, they had raised 3 Magisters, when even 1 Magister was a major influence on any battle. They come to back up Holy Empire when in conflict against Victorious Return and to deter RSF from interfering. They had one of the Seven Archbishops in the previous timeline. Splendid Temple

The guild led by Splendid Star. They sent several thousand players to compete for the loot dropped by a Guardian of Order that appeared when Nie Yan got the Chapter of Courage. Union of a.s.sa.s.sins

A profit-driven neutral party created by Nie Yan whose only goal is to connect clients with agents and receive a share of the transaction. With a high enough price, a client could even invite extremely famous players to dungeon with them, perform an a.s.sa.s.sination, or more. Ch168-Ch169 (Beginnings)

Victorious Return

A guild with enmity towards Nie Yan. In the previous timeline, they were one of the initial five formidable powers in the Viridian Empire. Its members act rampantly and arrogantly, and it often clears training areas of other players just for the sake of it. On Nie Yan's first encounter with them, forced other players to leave Lake Rando and Fishmen Village before attacking it. In the previous timeline, their Representative Thief, Quiet Life, held the Chapter of Freedom retrieved from the Tomb of Abraham the Necromancer. They were one of the 5 major guilds under Cao Xu. Three of their elites try to ambush and killsteal Nie Yan as he fights a Zombie King for the guild bounty. When Nie Yan and Tang Yao first begin to hunt Scaled Frogs, they hold the 1st, 3rd, and 6th positions on the Level leaderboard. They put a ma.s.sive bounty on Nie Yan's head for 50 silver after he killed four of their elite players. They lay a 300-man trap in Blackflame Forest to try to kill Nie Yan, but Holy Empire intervenes. They then send their main forces to intimidate Holy Empire, but he doesn't back down and Sapphire Shrine comes to deter RSF from helping Victorious Return. After retreating, they resort to killing average a.s.skickers United players to demoralize the guild. Later, their attempt to kill a Warlock ends up with Nie Yan stealing away the loot and even killing a bunch of players sent to hunt for him. They set up an attack where Unhindered joins Victorious Return and then kills a.s.skickers United's main team in an ambush. War G.o.d Tribe

The organization founded by Nie Yan's father in the previous timeline to try and stabilize his company against the downturns of high-risk, high-reward deals. It quickly rose to power and was even able to rival Victorious Return, but quickly suffered under attacks from them. Because of their weak foundation from starting out too late-they owned only a single auction house-they were unable to maintain themselves under Victorious Return's a.s.saults. Ch136 (First Mention)

Withered Leaf

The gaming organization owned by Tuoba Time's family's Tuoba Financial Group and headed in-game by Aqua Smoke Stub. They join a.s.skickers United for a set period of time as part of a deal to obtain a Prince role in the Union of a.s.sa.s.sins. Ch181 (First Mention), Ch182-Ch183 (UoA Prince Deal)

Angyi Tians.h.i.+

The president of the top-ranked Angel Corp and previous holder of the Chapter of Justice. As a Demon Hunter from the Elf Race, he once defeated over 100 enemies by summoning 16 Righteous Knights. Ch29 (First Mention)

Aqua Smoke Stub

The leader of Withered Leaf in Conviction. He asks to talk to Nie Yan via Tuoba Time, but gets refused. He messages Nie Yan and strikes a deal where Withered Leaf joins a.s.skickers United for a month, giving AU their acc.u.mulated Honor and allowing some talents to tag along with Withered Leaf experts. In exchange, Aqua Smoke Stub receives a Prince role in the Union of a.s.sa.s.sins. Ch182-Ch183 (First Encounter)

Bai Kaishui (Plain Boiled Water)

A good-tempered Fighter in Yao Yao's team. He speaks up for Nie Yan after Chen Bo's continual doubt. With his kind and just disposition, he acts as PR for the team. He invites Dusk to run Treant Forest under Nie Yan's leaders.h.i.+p. Trying to be carried through Specialist Blackflame Forest with Yao Yao's team, they get caught in a trap by Victorious Return. Ch42-Ch57 (Treant Forest), Ch148-Ch156 (BFF Trap)

Bird Leaves No Eggs

Known as the Alchemy King in his past life, he had been a member of the enemy guild Victorious Return. In this life, however, Nie Yan managed to recruit him first right after he was kicked out of the Dark Hero guild for being bad at alchemy and thus wasting materials. He has a rare skill that boosts potion effects 2% of the time he crafts them. His real-life situation wasn't much better than his impoverished in-game situation. When uses up his provided materials with a 70% net loss, Nie Yan guides him a bit using advice from the previous timeline, watches him concoct a few potions, and gives him an ultimatum to improve his alchemy or leave. However, Nie Yan also offers him a manager position at the Starry Night Potion Shop. Soon after the Blackflame Forest affair, he is told by Nie Yan to scout for Tinkerers to expand their businesses. With Nie Yan's tips, he scouted out almost everyone who had reached the Master rank of their profession in the previous timeline. Black Heaven

The previous holder of the Chapter of Harmony. Nie Yan suspects that this Holy Priest is allied with Black h.e.l.l due to their similar names and the connection to the Chapter of Harmony. He and Black h.e.l.l immediately consider Nie Yan an enemy and consider how to forcefully take the chapters from him. Ch186 (First Mention)

Black h.e.l.l

A Shadow Priest who gets the Chapter of Harmony in this life, but Nie Yan had never heard of him in the past timeline. He and Nie Yan are updated hourly of the others' position. He and Black Heaven immediately consider Nie Yan an enemy and consider how to forcefully take the chapters from him. Ch185-Ch187 (First Mention)

Blowhard Summer Bug

Often called just "Summer Bug," he is an Arcane Mage in a.s.skickers United's main team who became a Magister in the previous timeline. He is there when Nie Yan returns with the h.e.l.lfire skill book that ends up going to Undying Scoundrel. He chooses not to compete for the skill book because he already has two AoE skills. He volunteers for the fight against Unhindered and Victorious in Kiln Fire Woods. Ch189 (First Encounter), Ch194-Ch201 (KFW Conflict)

Blue Yarn Thread

A member of a.s.skickers United's main team with the potential to become a Guardian Paladin in the future. He is there when Nie Yan returns with the h.e.l.lfire skill book that ends up going to Undying Scoundrel. He volunteers for the fight against Unhindered and Victorious in Kiln Fire Woods. Broad Blade

The leader of a Victorious Return team that tried to killsteal an AU team in Peaceful Dream Valley. They fail because of Paladin of the Elegy's quick thinking, and instead get ma.s.sacred by over a hundred AU reinforcements. Ch170-Ch172 (PDV Conflict)

Candy

A Thief in Dark Eternal Sin's team. She used to be an infamous a.s.sa.s.sin/Thief in the Dark Empire guild of other games. Nie Yan used them to escape a Sub-Elite Serpentine Lizard, and afterwards stole it from them. Ch71-Ch76 (First Encounter)

Chen Bo

A Thief in Yao Yao's team who antagonizes Nie Yan because of jealousy over girls. His name is a h.o.m.ophone for Morning Wood. He is a slightly wealthy beauty-chaser with his eyes on both Yu Lan and Yao Yao. However, both despise him so his possessiveness comes to naught in the end. Later, he challenges Tang Yao to try and get him kicked from Yu Lan's team, but ends up getting one-shot by Flame Explosion before leaving the team himself. Enraged, he joins Victorious Return by getting another member of Yu Lan's team to sell out Nie Yan's location as well as make the first attack.

Clear Sky

A tall man in his mid-twenties, Clear Sky is the captain and star player of Azure Falling Sky's elite team. He is first mentioned complaining about the shortage of Black Phenol (which was caused by Nie Yan's monopoly, unbeknownst to him). Ch107 (Cameo)

Cold Maple

A Holy Mage in Holy Empire who was in the Nie-Yan carried run of Agmota Muddy Wetlands. He wields the high-level Templar Magic, which he uses when Holy Empire rescues Nie Yan from the Blackflame Forest Trap. Ch94-Ch102 (AMW), Ch151-Ch156 (BFF Rescue)

Dark Eternal Sin

A berserker who was a leader in previous games of a guild known as Dark Empire. In Conviction, however, he chose not to form a guild but rather just a team with his close friends. Nie Yan used them to escape a Sub-Elite Serpentine Lizard, and afterwards stole it from them. Ch71-Ch76 (First Encounter)

Dian Cang (Blue Drop)

An elementalist with a fairly high status in Radiant Sacred Flame. He attacked and killed most of Tang Yao's group in Levin Hills, turning his name red. Despite having a high awareness stat and being ready for Nie Yan's sneak attack, he died and dropped his entire Fire Chaser set. Ch20 (1st Encounter)

Dusk (Huang Hun)

An Arcane Mage from Holy Empire. He runs Treant Forest with Nie Yan at the invitation of Bai Kaishui. He recorded the run and sent it to Sleepy Fox. He ran Agmota Muddy Wetlands when Sleepy Fox invited Nie Yan to lead Holy Empire through the dungeon. Joining Yao Yao's team through Specialist Blackflame Forest to contact Nie Yan on behalf of Holy Empire, they get caught in a trap by Victorious Return. Ch148-Ch156 (BFF Trap) Ch44-Ch57 (Treant Forest), Ch57-Ch58 (TF Video), Ch90-Ch102 (AMW)

Emperor Killer

The guild leader of Holy Judgement and the previous holder of the Chapter of Wisdom. As a Holy Mage, he killed over 300 liches in the Invasion of the Undead with the Forbidden Magic Resplendent Brilliance. Ch29 (First Mention)

Fa Lan (Blue Mage)

The leader of Sapphire Shrine, who became a Great Mage in the past timeline. He comes to back up Holy Empire, deter RSF's interference, and bring news of RSF and VR's alliance during the Blackflame Forest standoff. He is invited to be a founding Prince of the Union of a.s.sa.s.sins. Ch156 (BFF Standoff), Ch169 (UoA Founding)

Feiyun Liushui (Humble Charm of Flowing Water)

Just called Feiyun, she is a stuck-up b.i.t.c.h cla.s.smate of Yao Yao's. She plays an elementalist, and thinks Nie Yan is nothing much and antagonizes him on their first meeting despite being introduced by Yao Yao. She gets jealous and acts irritably after Yao Yao accepts a Gold-tier Staff of Moonlight Wors.h.i.+p from him. Ch102-Ch104 (1st Encounter)

Flying Stone

Simply called "Stone" by his friends, he is a member of Holy Empire. He was the Silencing Paladin who gifted Nie Yan a Stealth skill book in exchange for the coordinates of a good farming location early in the game. Later, he bought a walkthrough on Fallen Shaman Camp. He pointed Nie Yan out to Sleepy Fox at the Guardian of Order conflict. He was also at the Agmota Muddy Wetlands run. G.o.dslayer of Yore

In the previous life, he had a blaze of glory when he and his friends ma.s.sacred several hundred members of Victorious Return, but soon after they were never heard of again. In this life, he sold a Swift Retreat skill book to Nie Yan and agreed that Nie Yan could look for them if he needed to form a team. When Victorious Return puts a bounty on Nie Yan's head, he reaches out to Nie Yan to offer support. Despite not being on the leaderboards because of being a solo player, he was extremely skilled and could even rank in the top 10 for PvP skill. After learning about Nie Yan after the deaths of three elites, he threatens Nie Yan with a bounty in order to try and get him to join Victorious Return. Later, through Chen Bo, he gets a contact in Yu Lan's team and lays an ambush for Nie Yan at Blackflame Forest. After Holy Empire's interference, he personally leads VR's main force to deal with Holy Empire, but retreats in the face of Sapphire Shrine's interference. Later, he sends thieves to try and interfere with Tang Yao's leveling as he tries to reclaim his place, but they don't think to look in a Level 30 zone. They saw Nie Yan hang from a cliff and crossbow Gato the Lion King, a boss far above his level, to death by using the Silk Spinner Ring in conjunction with the Featherfall ability. As a Berserker, he had beheaded over 200 players in a guild war after rus.h.i.+ng into enemy ranks on his own. At Stone's recommendation, he invited Nie Yan to run Agmota Muddy Wetlands during the Guardian of Order conflict. After watching Nie Yan clear a dungeon, he realized the importance of a Thief and the skill of Nie Yan. He gave control of his team to Nie Yan for the Agmota run. Nie Yan sold him some Black Phenol when Sosil Valley first opened in exchange for some semi-common skill books. Later, he joins Nie Yan in helping Yao Yao's team clear Treant Forest. Afterwards, Chen Bo comes to find trouble with him, but Tang Yao kills him and then tells Nie Yan about it. He asks to join Nie Yan in power-levelling after Nie Yan calls Yao Yao's team slow. He finds a rare Arcane Fairy Crystal while levelling, which allows him to summon an Arcane Fairy helper. Nie Yan has him use his Arcane Fairy to farm high-level Skeleton Soldiers safely. A few days later, when he hits Level 10, Nie Yan invites him to go one a quest to hunt Scaled Frogs together. After Heaven Breaker's threat, Nie Yan asks Tang Yao about making a guild together. Using the experience from Scaled Frogs, he quickly catches up to Heaven Breaker on the leaderboards. The leader of Yao Yao's dungeoning team. She is usually amiable, but when severely irritated she will show a fiery temper-once killing a player down 5 levels for teasing her. She let Nie Yan lead her team through Treant Forest after judging him to have the bearings of an expert. Yu Long

This Paladin was the second-in-command in all of Victorious Return. He was originally the leader of the Dragon Drive gaming organization. However, after some financial investments, Heaven Breaker eventually brought them under his banner, and Yu Long himself benefited by gaining a 20% share of Victorious Return. It was precisely because of the elite members of Dragon Drive propping up the entire guild that Victorious Return was able to reach the apex. Even Heaven Breaker treated Yu Long with an air of politeness. Guo Huai

A Holy Mage who was cla.s.smates with Nie Yan in real life. His father owns a supermarket chain, and he had always wanted to start a guild with his friends. Unfortunately, he had never had enough in-game rallying power or potential. When he meets with Tang Yao and Nie Yan at the middle school cla.s.s reunion, he voices these dreams and tells Tang Yao to start a guild. They then set in motion plans to start a guild with their connections and Nie Yan's in-game resources. In the past life, he was pressured into drinking orange juice and getting an allergic reaction by Chu Zhenfei, but got revenge later by hiring musclemen to beat him up. However, she looked down on him and humiliated him because he was poor and weak. In this life, she similarly looked down on him until he broke a chain of records in her gym. Lin Yan

Probably unrelated to Lin Jia, he is Nie Yan's father's friend from the army. He loaned a large sum of money to Nie Yan's father and didn't even ask for interest. After loaning such a sum out, his monetary situation became uncertain, but he still refused to sink as low as to badger Nie Yan for his father's debts. He and his family are given shares in the company after Nie Yan's parents return, and they even move into Nie Yan's family's new villa. Ch104-Ch106 (1st Encounter), Ch184 (2nd Mention)

Nie Yan's parents

They left him with a bit of money, and took off without a word of goodbye immediately afterward. Nie Yan found out afterwards that they had left to begin a dangerous polonium smuggling operation, which succeeded and resulted in his father starting a successful smelting company and then expanding. Unfortunately, they were targeted by Cao Xu and betrayed by their relatives, so they lost control of the business. His father committed suicide by overdose, and his mother took ill and died due to grief. In this timeline, Nie Yan pays off their debts before they return. They return to a Nie Yan that's much more mature and had even paid off their debts. As they prepare to move out, their relatives come to hara.s.s them again. Eventually, they worked with Cao Xu to backstab Nie Yan's father and push him out of control over the company. In this life, they came knocking at Nie Yan's door one night trying to get him to bader his parents for the money. They include his uncles and aunts, especially his Uncle Luo Ming + Wife. After they come bother him yet another time, he decides borrow money from Tang Yao to pay them back, closing his parents' debt despite these loan sharks' doubt as to where he got the money. Tang Yao

Nie Yan's best friend from childhood. His father is the CEO of Linzhou Airline, making his family rich and influential. He remained loyal to Nie Yan despite Cao Xu's suppression in the last life. He invites Nie Yan to go with him to the cla.s.s reunion and hang out with some friends who also play Conviction. Wei Kai

The leader of the neighborhood bullies, who often bullied Nie Yan. He was exiled after invading another criminal organization and causing a large disturbance in the previous life.
