"With you? The whole night?" Xi Cheng asked.

While saying this, he put the pressure on those words. His intention was to provoke Song Meilin, but she ignored it as if she didn't hear it. It was not like Song Meilin was in favor of her daughter spending a night outside of the home with the man but she knew what Xi Cheng was trying to do.

Nix.x.xie felt like she was caught between them not knowing what to do, but she trusted Jiang Yang about how he would reply to her step-brother.

Hearing Xi Cheng's next question, Jiang Yang nodded. "Hmm! In the same hotel suite and in the same bed. I can only give you this much details as rest things are our personal matter." 4

What Jiang Yang said, changed the look in Xi Cheng's eyes, but he tried to hide it by pulling out a fake smile on his face as if it didn't affect him. "I know you two are together but I was just worried about my sister."

"I can understand a brother's worry towards his sister but rest a.s.sured, I will take care of her."

Though these two were talking calmly and smiling lightly, one could feel the coldness around. Both were trying to mock each other politely.

"My sister being together with a man the whole night, won't let me rest a.s.sured."

"You can continue worrying about her. I will continue taking care of her." Saying, Jiang Yang looked at Song Meilin and said, "I will take a leave now, Mrs. Xi. "

Song Meilin didn't stop him and nodded. She preferred to let him go instead of letting the tension between two men go on the higher side.

Getting off the sofa, Jiang Yang went to Nix.x.xie, kissed her on the forehead and said, "See you soon." Nix.x.xie just nodded and let him go.

When Jiang Yang left, Xi Cheng said, "Stepmother, aren't you worried for your daughter?"

"You are n.o.body for me to answer you," Song Meilin replied coldly. 1

"I know but how can you let her be like this? It makes me feel worried about her." Xi Cheng insisted.

"You are in no place to worry about her. You just worry about yourself as you have to prepare yourself to handle things carefully which can slip from your hands anytime," Song Meilin replied coldly not even sparing him a single glance and left to go upstairs. Nix.x.xie followed her mother to her room, leaving Xi Cheng with bitterness in his mind.

Song Meilin went to her room and sat on the couch. Nix.x.xie entered inside and stood there thinking how to start just then Song Meilin called her. "Why are you standing there?"

Hearing Nix.x.xie stepped towards the couch and sat at the other end of it. "Mother, are you upset with me?"

"Why should I be?" Song Meilin asked, looking at her daughter.

"As I was out for a night," Nix.x.xie replied hesitantly.

"So?" Song Meiling asked calmly as if she didn't get what her daughter was trying to say.

"Mother..I..." Nix.x.xie could not say it so Song Meilin asked, "Are you trying to explain the things as you are regretting them now?"

"No!"

"Then?"

"I don't know what to say?" Nix.x.xie replied.

"You don't have to explain anything to me as I think I have raised you well to make you differentiate between the things that are good or bad for you."

Nix.x.xie nodded and Song Meilin continued. "You are an adult now. Whatever decisions you take are solely yours and you would be the one to be responsible for it so don't come to me with these things if it's not something serious and for me to worry about. Learn to take your decisions on your own whatever it may be and if something goes wrong, learn to face their consequences too as I won't be with you forever." 1

Song Meilin's reply was straightforward and cold. She knew what Nix.x.xie was thinking about but for her only being her mother who can just pamper her daughter was not enough. For her, it was a time when her daughter should learn to take decisions by herself and to face difficulties ahead on her own.

The last line from her mother shook Nix.x.xie and she looked at her mother with worry. She knew why her mother was saying it. Till now her mother did everything she could to protect her but now it was her time to do things for her mother so she just nodded. "I understood Mother but I want you to be with me always."

Hearing it, Song Meilin softened and said, "If there is something you can't deal with, I am always here to help you."

"Thank You mother," Nix.x.xie replied.

In Ming Mansion…

Ming Rusheng woke up, feeling his head hurting badly. Looking around in the room, he realized how he ended up in his home and he also remembered what happened between him and Jiang Yuyan. Regretting it, he exclaimed, "s.h.i.+t. Did I confess to her just before her wedding day? F*ck!" Saying he sat up in bed.

Though his head was hurting badly, he didn't care and jumped out of bed to go to the bathroom. There was only one thing in his mind and that was to get out of the Ming Mansion as soon as possible. As he got ready and went downstairs, he straight stepped towards the door of Ming Mansion to go out but just then elder Ming called him.

"Where are you going?"

Ming Rusheng halted in his tracks and turned to look at his grandpa. "Grandpa, I have something to do so I need to go out."

"Isn't it Sunday today?" elder Ming asked.

"Yes, it is but….."

"Then why are you in a hurry to go out? Come and have breakfast together." Saying elder Ming turned to go to the dining room where everyone was already present and Ming Rusheng followed him unwillingly.

When they reached the dining room, Jiang Yuyan was not there and Ming Rusheng gave out a sigh of relief. As he sat there, elder Ming asked Mo Ruolan, "Where is Yuyan?"
