Cameras flashed as the hired photographers scrambled to get the best pictures of all prominent personalities arriving at the event. The energy outside the Sun Estate was high, with so many people talking and posing for pictures.

The joyous event was also filled with rumors and gossips about the family. The event wasn’t the only reason why people attended, but they’re also here to watch any interesting shows later.

“Do you know that today, Chairman Sun will name his next heir? Although he still has two daughters alive, it seems like he’ll pa.s.s the baton to Sun Feiyan now.”

“Sun Weijun was supposed to inherit everything, but he encountered a misfortune. It’s only natural for his daughter to inherit his part.”

On and on, the voices shouted on him to answer their questions. Shen Yi ignored them all as he helped his wife stepped out of the car, mindful of the long skirt of her dress. The photographers and reporters went even more frenzied when they saw Shen Yi helping a familiar woman out of the limousine they arrived in.

President Shen had never been seen photographed with a woman before, except with the paparazzi pictures that went online with the same woman beside him. He was wearing a black suit with a deep-red dress s.h.i.+rt while the woman, who everyone recognized as Lu Xinyi, the newest top-notcher of Silver Leaf Academy, was wearing a glittering red sequin gown. Her long hair was styled in loose curls and pinned on the right side of her head.

“Oh my G.o.d! Isn’t that Miss Lu of Silver Leaf Academy? Are they really dating?”

“What do you think? Do they really have to admit it verbally? d.a.m.n, I’ve never seen President Shen willingly touch a woman’s hand in public.”

Lu Xinyi blinked as the camera flashed in her face, but she revealed nothing but calmness. She had barely seen the suns.h.i.+ne for the past few days after Sun Qiushan’s funeral, and this commotion was a little too much for her.

Shen Yi noticed Lu Xinyi was uncomfortable with all the attention. Holding her close, he led her inside the venue and was about to ignore all the requests for a pose when Lu Xinyi stopped him. Her eyes begged him to cooperate a little. They had a purpose why they attended this event anyway.

The couple posed for the pictures as the photographer went nuts and took several shots of them. Shen Yi stood impa.s.sively as he placed a hand on his wife’s waist while Lu Xinyi let a mischievous smile appeared on her face. Her eyes sparkled, reflecting the flash of the cameras.

As the cameras continued to flash, some reporters took this opportunity to throw questions at Lu Xinyi.

“Miss Lu, can you please answer this question? Are the two of you dating now?”

“Miss Lu, please answer!”

Lu Xinyi wrapped her arm to push herself closer to her husband. She regarded the reporter with a smirk.

“I finished the quest and beat the demon king. What can I say, he’s mine now.”

That simple answer was enough to blow everyone’s mind. Seeing that Lu Xinyi was more open to questions than the man standing beside her, the reporters continued to ask.

“Miss Lu, are we expecting a wedding anytime soon?”

“Can Miss Lu share with us how she met President Shen?”

“Miss Lu, are you here to support President Shen to amend the rift between the Shen and Sun families?”

Lu Xinyi ignored and skipped the other questions except for the last one.

“I have no idea where you get the idea, but I’m not here to fix someone’s relations.h.i.+p. I’m here to support the Sun family. President Shen is just kind enough to agree to become my partner tonight.”

“Miss Lu, are you returning to the Sun family now? Are you really a young miss from the Sun family?”

Lu Xinyi nodded. Her face remained calm and with a smile, but she inwardly snorted at this question. If she wasn’t a young miss from this backstabbing family, she would’ve danced around and thrown a party to celebrate.

“Miss Lu, is it true that Sun Feiyan would become Chairman Sun’s successor? He’s been grooming her all these years? Will you or your other cousins object if she’s to become the successor?”

“Indeed, I’m the third miss of the Sun family. It’s normal to show my support to whoever my grandfather deemed as his successor. I’m not aware of my cousins’ relations.h.i.+p with Feiyan so I cannot answer on behalf of them.”

Lu Xinyi inwardly grimaced. For her and Sun Qiushan being related to the Sun family was their greatest misfortune in life.

“As for the question if I’ll return… it depends if my aunts allow me to do so. I’m not sure if they’ll allow it since their relations.h.i.+p with my mother wasn’t good to begin with,” she answered back.

In truth, if she could, she would deny all her connections from this family who caused her and her mother a lot of heartaches.

The reporters tried to get more information, but Lu Xinyi had decided that they had enough.

“It has been nice talking to all of you, but we’d like to go inside to give way to other guests,” Lu Xinyi said before whisking her husband away from the crowd and the cameras.

When they were safely out of everyone’s earshot, Lu Xinyi glanced on Shen Yi’s face and saw him grinning like an idiot. Shen Yi was thrilled that he could finally parade and show off his wife in public, and that brought him immense satisfaction.

“What’s so funny?” she raised a brow on him.

“Nothing,” he replied, but Lu Xinyi knew better. She shook her head and continued walking beside him, eager to see the family she wanted to crush.
