“You, you really want to help me?” His eyebrows shot up. What was she planning by now?

Lu Xinyi laughed softly before returning to the wide table. She lightly hopped to her feet and sat on its edge. With a smile, she turned to address him. “Come here.”

Shen Yi obliged and sauntered towards his wife. For him, Lu Xinyi was an anomaly. He couldn’t understand what made him attracted to her. Why did he propose a deal to her when he met her?

He wondered why he had chosen her. Lu Xinyi was fun to be with. She was also feisty, fearless, and determined once she put her mind onto something. Imagine his surprise when she came bursting into his boring life, rejecting all the luxuries he was trying to give her. In fact, she would always contradict him but had never demanded something from him, which she should be doing since she was his wife.

This woman was driving him insane. He was known for having a lack of concern and interest, but lately, he was feeling different. He wanted her to smile, and he wanted to be the reason for those smiles.

“Are you doing this because you’re jealous, wife?” His eyes held amus.e.m.e.nt. His fingers came to brush some hair out of her face.

Lu Xinyi swallowed at the rather intimate gesture. “There’s no need for me to be jealous when you are already mine.”

He paused. Oh? Did she just stake a claim on him? Shen Yi grinned and reveled on his thoughts. Never had a woman dared to claim or fight for him.

Why on earth did she call him hers?!

“No! I mean there’s no reason for me to be jealous, right?” she corrected herself, but she knew it was useless for her to fight the blush that was creeping across her face.

“Enough teasing. Didn’t I say I’ll help you deal with her? Let’s kill two birds with one stone. Miss Duan will stop pestering you, and the rumors about your s.e.xuality will be cleared.” Lu Xinyi pulled on the lapels of his coat and made him stand between her knees. His scent was teasing her senses.

“So what’s the plan?” He was used to being looked at but looks from someone he had feelings for was something he wasn’t used to.

Lu Xinyi sighed.

“My husband is quite popular; hence, he’s got some problems he couldn’t deal with alone,” she said with a vague smile. “I can see why Miss Duan is dedicated to her work.”

“Oh? Would you care to share your theory?”

“She’s obviously quite taken with you.”

“How unfortunate of her.”

Lu Xinyi released her hair from her messy bun and ran her fingers to tame it down. She then removed her coat and start unb.u.t.toning the top b.u.t.tons of her blouse. Shen Yi’s eyes widened when he realized what she was about to do.

“Lu Xinyi! You are such a naughty girl!”

Lu Xinyi leaned towards him and started to remove the unwanted tie on his neck and undo his b.u.t.tons as she explained the plan to him quietly. His eyes widened slightly in her mischief. He shouldn’t be the one to complain when he noticed what lay beneath her blouse. The pale soft skin was something he wasn’t prepared to see.

“Enjoying the view?” Lu Xinyi asked.

“Yes, now that you mention it,” he replied, his voice showing amus.e.m.e.nt at the direction of the conversation had taken. He couldn’t believe that his wife would fake a makeout session just to crush another woman’s hopes. Not that he minded anyway. He slipped off his own coat and tossed it aside carelessly.

Such a devious plan she had, and he had to fight to withhold a grin that threatened to cross his face. At her request, Shen Yi allowed her to wrap her arms around his shoulders. Her fingers found his dark locks. A soft gasp left her lips when he felt his strong arms wrap around her waist and pulled her towards the edge of the table.

Shen Yi lowered his lips to her exposed neck and nuzzled it gently, smirking to himself when she tilted her head on the other side. Tightening his hold on her slender waist, he inhaled her scent before placing a soft kiss on her skin.

“Xinyi. Why pretend when we can do it for real?” he murmured.

“Hmm.. not the right place to do that,” she lowly intoned. “Enough of that, and just do what I just asked you to do.”

“Can I borrow a kiss? I promise I’ll give it back.” Shen Yi lightly teased.

Before she could complain, Lu Xinyi felt the softest of brushes against her mouth. When she felt his lips softly connect with hers, she responded back. She felt him moved his head lower so she would stop reaching up to him. He moved gently against her lips, enjoying the moment and the warmth of her body next to him. Her arms wrapped around his neck to press her lips firmly against his.

Crash.

A short jolt of electricity brought her back to reality as they realized that the fifteen minutes break was over, and the meeting should resume by then. Startled from the cras.h.i.+ng sound, Lu Xinyi abruptly broke the kiss and turned her head to where it came from. Shen Yi paused and followed her gaze and looked at the intruders as though they had interrupted something important.

There at the doorway, Duan Yong and the rest of the executive team were staring at the couple with wide eyes. Lu Xinyi was pleased to see the look of horror on Duan Yong’s face. The dark-haired woman stood rooted on the spot, her eyes glued at the married couple. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what was going on, and she couldn’t believe what she’d seen.
