"No, he's not on her level."

He never knew his friend was so arrogant. Does he think only he can marry her?

"Um...yeah...she only thirteen, I don't think she has a level yet..." Braeden muttered.

Choosing to ignore Ailwin for the time being, he turned his head away; unfortunately, his eyes met Saavi's from across the room.

Fuzzy memories rose from both their minds from the night before.

The last thing they both could remember was of him falling over himself.

Braeden's quickly turned his face away.

*Pttf*

Hearing Saavi's m.u.f.fled laughter from across the room made his face hit the floor....again.

"Lord Mano...Lord Tasar, I'm sorry to interrupt, but we really need to get going." Ailwin saw Braeden's mortified expression and decided to save whatever is left of his friend's dignity.

"Right..right...let us see you and the Shadow Wolves off." Tasar walked everyone to the front gate where Prince Ailwin's men were waiting for him.

"Lord Tasar, thank you for your hospitality and the warm welcome." Ailwin bowed to Tasar then turned his attention to Lord Mano and Mikaela.

"Lord Mano, may I speak to Miss Amara privately for a moment?"

Nodding his head, Mano allowed Ailwin to pull Mika over to the side. Taking his time to gather his thoughts, Ailwin nervously looked at Mika as she waited for him to speak.

"Mikaela...I won't apologize for last night..."

I didn't ask you to. Mika raised an eyebrow at the man standing before her.

"...I am a prince..."

Good for you.

"...there are going to be times where you are not going to like what I do or say...but as my future wife, these are things you need to get used to. Understand?" Ailwin finished with the words Braeden told him to say.

Ailwin waited to hear Mika's response, but all he got was a cold stare.

Why isn't she saying anything? I did explain myself clearly...don't tell me she is still mad? Ailwin was about to continue talking when Mika spoke.

"Ailwin, you must have me confused with someone else..." Rolling her eyes, Mika turned away from Ailwin's bemused stare.

"You may be a prince, however, if you believe I should get used to your actions then as my future husband, you should get used to my foot being up your a.s.s...And with that said I wish you a safe journey..." Bowing her head, Mika turned and walked back to her father.

Watching her small back walk away, Ailwin cursed Braeden for his help.

Why did he even listening to that drunkard, this will be the first and last time I ever ask for relations.h.i.+p advice from Braeden!

Holding his head, Ailwin didn't know why he thought his friend, who has never dating a female for more than a month, would have the answers.

Following behind Mika, Ailwin was thinking of ways to get back the pleasant atmosphere the two had before.

Touching his pocket, Ailwin pulled out a white jade necklace his mother received from his father when she was still alive. In fact, it was the only gift he had ever given her.

When he was a child, he used to treasure it, thinking it represented the love his parents shared. It was only until much later when his mother was on her bed, alone and dying that he woke up from the illusion.

The single reason he still cherishes and carries it around with him is to remember his mother.

Coming to a decision, Ailwin managed to catch up with Mika before she joined her father at the Udava's main gate.

"Hold on, wait..."

"What is it now Ailwin...?" Her patience was running thin.

"Here." Ailwin placed the necklace around Mika's neck and tighten the clasp before stepping back for her to see.

"What is this?" Mika examines the white jade pendant.

"It was my mother's, but I'm giving it to you as a concession...please take care of it well..."

Mika looked at his rueful face and then down at the necklace.

d.a.m.n! He played the dead mother card!

Remembering that she still might need him, and he is her fiancee; Mika decided to let bygones be bygones.

"En. I'll treasure it well." Ailwin breathed out a sigh of relief, it seems she decided to forgive him.

Walking her back to Lord Mano, Ailwin and his people bid ado to everyone as they headed towards the Shadow Wolves camp.

"Ailwin, after we reach the campsite should we get ready to leave immediately...?" Braeden asked, happy to be away from Mika and her laughing maid.

"En. We've given my siblings enough time to frame me..."

Thinking of the message he received earlier this morning, Ailwin moved his army swiftly out of the Steppe and back to Kaia.

"Mikaela! it's time for us to go as well..." Mano called out when he saw his daughter was still standing there watching Prince Ailwin leave.

She must have become enamored with Prince Ailwin during their time together. Mano thought, happy that his youngest daughter will be marrying someone she loves.

Unfortunately, for Lord Mano, his daughter was actually cursing her oversight on not asking Ailwin for a complete set of jewelry with matching earrings and a bracelet.
